Any time between now and Thursday there will be some down time, possibly up to 12 hours. No data will be loss.

Vizzed is migrating to a more powerful server which will be literally over twice as powerful. The reason for this migration is that the Vizzed traffic is expected to increase rapidly during the next few months and since the CPU usage is already getting near 90% during peak hours, now is the best time to do the migration.

I'm hoping the transfer will only take for hours but every migration in the past has had some problems so I'm saying that there's a possibility of the site being down for up to 12 hours. When I know for sure of the time, I'll post it here. I've already ordered the server, just waiting for Godaddy to set it up and at that time will direct the domain name to the new server and transfer all the files and the database (which is definitely the worst part).

Besides a huge increase in site performance, the new server will also have RAID 1. Basically this is hardware that mirrors all the files of the site to a 2nd hard drive which dramatically decreases the possibility of files being corrupted or lost on the server (there have been a few rare cases where user save files have been missing, this would prevent that from happening).

I got an idea I think might be needed. There should be a big bar across the top of page specifically for important updates the day its happening cause people usually complain or post threads of what happened, site isn't working, my games are gone etc... This would not be a permanent bar just something temporary for important server issues or something that will affect everyone.

Thats a very good idea, and I recently made a Music Forum so if anybody wants to join up on there, I can keep them posted for vizzed. Don't expect the new server to fix the games The server will only improve the sites performance at high traffic rates the new server will be able to handle 2x as much strain as this current one

im not really sure if this has anything to do with the update or this topic and i don't really know whether the update is already finish but i noticed that i need to update my plugin again

anyways i just noticed one thing about my saved data for chrono trigger, last time i saved the game is where the two final boss would be

When I went to register the new server, the disk space was 150 GB (current is 120 GB) but in between that time, Godaddy upgraded their offer to 300 GB and I barely qualify for their upgraded offer which means the new server's disk space will be over twice as big which means we'll be able to store many more files and so there's a bigger possibility of adding bigger systems in the future (but of course they would cost a ton of Viz since they'd still use up a lot of bandwidth which costs a lot of money).

That's definitely good news. Would that make it possible to make a MMO with that thingy that was talked about?

That will definitely draw more people into the site, more games. Sounds very awesome David! How's everything going with that? I can't wait to see what will Vizzed will look like a year from now!

Yes, I agree with JusTReal, that's a great idea. That way, instead of people freaking out and wondering why they can't play games (the people who don't even go on the boards), they could just see the important announcement and know why. If the site is down completely, maybe just an alternative page shows up that says when it's done and will be back.

What I mean is something like this http://avatar.starried.net/hiatus/, so that people could see the site is still there, just undergoing a switch (if that's possible, idk if even having one page up would be an option during a server switch)

The Vizzed MMO that was talked about that involves those stats we get when we post & wear stuff from the item shop. I was wondering if that would be possible.

Just in case anyone was interested, I was able to log in and stay logged in throughout the whole migration, and I watched as more and more people weren't on. At it's lowest that I saw, 26 people were online.

That is probably a DNS issue, some people can see site while others can't its happened a lot in past Vizzed wasn't only thing that that would not load, nothing on the net loaded under a minute for me for 2-3 hours
