I'm a big baseball nerd, and for some reason, the Hall of Fame is something I've always been interested in. Researching Hall of Famers, arguing about who should and who should not be in the Hall of Fame, etc. I recently started working on a project where I go through every notable player in baseball history and make the case for why they do or do not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. And that got me wondering...

If Vizzed had a Hall of Fame, who would be in it? Now I know there is a Tour de Vizzed Hall of Fame and a VCS Hall of Fame, but those only list past winners of those competitions. There is no Hall of Fame like baseball and other sports have, where the most notable people are honored for their accomplishments. If Vizzed did have a Hall of Fame like that, what would the requirements be for induction? Would it just be everyone who has Elite status or higher? Or would it be more (or less) selective than that?

Interested to hear everyone's thoughts about what their criteria would be, and who they would have in their Vizzed Hall of Fame. Maybe we could even come up with an induction process and make this an official thing if we get enough people on board?

My thoughts:

-Anyone who has Trusted Member status (or higher) and has been on Vizzed for at least 5 years is eligible to appear on a ballot.

-Every 6 months an election takes place in Vizzed Lodge. Anyone who has Elite rank or higher is permitted to vote. The voting period lasts two weeks.

-Voters should consider all aspects of a user's contribution to the site, including posting, CP, staff work, mod experience, etc., as well as the user's general character and presence within the community.

-A member must receive 75% or more of the vote to be inducted.

-A member will stay on the ballot for the following election if he or she receives at least one vote, but does not reach the 75% threshold. Any members that receive 0 votes will be removed from the ballot.

-Voters are allowed to vote for up to 5 members or 20% of the members on the ballot, whichever is higher. So if there are 100 members on the ballot, voters can vote for 20 members. If there are 50 members on the ballot, voters can vote for up to 10 members. If there are 10 members on the ballot, voters can vote for up to 5 members. If there are 7 members on the ballot, voters can still vote for up to 5 members. If there are 5 members on the ballot, voters can vote for all 5 members if they wish.

-New members are added to the ballot when they meet the above criteria. Any members that have been removed from the ballot for failing to earn a vote can reappear on the ballot 2 years later if they wish to be reconsidered.

As for my personal opinions about who I would and would not vote for, well, I'll keep that to myself for the time being.

I think that the people that would be in it would be the top 10 People that got the most words in the year, so if there was one now, whoever types the most words would get in the Hall of Fame.

That is some of the people that would be in it, but if there was, but if there would be way more than that.

Dauntez: Basing it purely off of quantity and not quality kind of defeats the purpose. We already have metrics to determine who types the most words, and every year there is a Vizzed Award for the top three in words that year. The Hall of Fame should be more holistic than that. Typing a lot of words should be something to consider for sure, but what about staff work? What about post quality? What about people that contribute to the RGR, but rarely post? There is much more to a person, and to their place in the Vizzed community, than word count. Having a Hall of Fame based primarily on words typed is the equivalent of saying that the best books are whichever ones are the longest. Not really the case; the content of those words matters much more.

Well maybe it could be who did the most work? Like I'm saying who did the most work on adding things like Games, Video Game Characters, Screenshots (Not so sure about that one, only for characters maybe?)

If your saying that this is something very hard to get, I would make it more narrowed down, like stuff that is important and helps the site a ton. Like adding good Bio's for characters, and then the Staff Members can make those Bio's the official bio's but even that might be too easy.

All I'm saying is it would have to be something hard to do.

This seems like a very similar concept to MLB Hall of Famers if I recall, except you can be nominated not voted for and then never be put up again?

for me personally, there are a few obvious candidates.

Triune- The dude did a lot of work simply put, and he was a very active and important member of the community for a number of years, I don't need to say more.

legacyme3- Anyone that can be inactive on the site for 3 years and still be the top poster of words (besides David) deserves a mention, but honestly it was more due to the community forum stuff he used to run that generated a lot of activity and fun that I respect more. Granted, he wasn't liked by everyone, but regardless, he left an impact for sure.

singelli- probably one of the most liked members ever. Was active a lot when they were around. I personally never truly formed a friendship with her to be honest, but I can respect the fact she was widely liked.

If Vizzed had an actual hall of fame. I think the criteria could be contributed to the site in a positive way such as being an elite member, a trusted member, or a staff member. I also think finishing in the top 10 in Tours would be a qualification. Moreover, the person could add quality content such as game reviews, articles, biographies and etc. Oh yeah, the person must hot have been banned no more than 3 times and be in good standing. Just my opinion of course.

Who could be some candidates.

David- He is the founder and owner he started this awesome site. So he would have to be in as without him we would not be on this site.

Palen- Has done a lot of work on this site. I believe they have severed in multiple rolls

Zandelex I think is how you spell their name. But for the same reason as Palen basically.

Triune-important member who has multiple contributions.

SonnicMcmuffin- he has done a lot of work on this site and served in staff roles.

Tgags- Def would belong in the hall of fame, excellent posts, severed in several rolls, and continues to do so.

There are several others who deserve to be in a Vizzed hall of fame.

The way I see it, there are only three members who absolutely must be in a Vizzed Hall of Fame, regardless of your criteria for induction: Davideo7, tRIUNE, and geeogree. After that, I think there is an argument to be made on both sides for about 100 or so other users. Personally, my Hall of Fame would probably have about 50ish people in it. Singelli, EX Palen, Jordanv78, legacyme3, Eirinn, Furret, pacman1755, merf, claytune, Light Knight, and Randy53215 would probably be my top priorities as a voter.
