I'm looking to find a great PC controller which I can select as the official controller for the RGR games. What makes it official? Well basically all the game's that support controller will have their default controls set to it and also when I open up a store, I will sell the Official Controller for the RGR.

Requirements:
-Dual analog
-Precise D-Pad

Some I'm interested in:
Logitech Rumblepad 2 Vibration Feedback Gamepad ($25)
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Rumblepad-Vibration-Feedback-Gamepad/dp/B0002XJBG4/ref=sr_1_84?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1269656560&sr=1-84

Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 with Vibration Feedback ($31.49)

USB 2.0 Gamepad for PC ($13)
http://www.amazon.com/USB-2-0-Gamepad-PC-supports-Vista/dp/B002NQ4820/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1269657017&sr=8-3

USB Double Shock2 Game Controller

I got an XBOX 360 controller that works great but if you don't want labels and such on it then I wouldn't get that. The logitechs are pretty nice too though.

I own the Logitech controller. Both of them seem pretty much identical in appearance, however, one has force feedback, the other is wireless. The one I have has neither force feedback, nor is it wireless, but it is EXACTLY the same as it appears in the force feedback controller. From personal experience, I find it to be an adequate controller. I use it for PSX emulation and some PC ports of console games that can't be played properly with the keyboard. It's nice, but the analog sticks are not 'precise'. They seem to be either on or off. You can tilt them slowly, but it does not work well. I have heard others condemn this controller over and over again, it seems that over time the analog sticks degrade and become unusable.

It is not an amazing controller, but it is adequate. It is still much more convenient than playing with the keyboard.

What I would seriously suggest is buying USB adapters for your old N64/PSX/PS2/Gamecube etc. controller. The controllers are made for consoles and hence are durable and precise, and work just as intended, and are quite probably very cheap if you were to go out and buy one (Assuming you don't have one laying around your house).

As a matter of fact, there's a very interesting driver floating around on the internet for free to turn your PS3 controller into a USB joystick. If anyone expresses interest and for some reason can't find it themselves from googling, I'll kick it up for you.

If for some reason you HAVE to buy a joypad specifically for PC, I'd recommend the two that aren't Logitech, just because they seem less... imitat-ey, and I'm somewhat unconvinced on recommending Logitech's stuff.

Yeah like Twerty said, the actual console controllers are the best. Like I said I use an XBOX 360 controller and it works like a charm. It's plug and play so you don't have to download or install anything as long as it's the wired one. I'm not sure if it's the same for the wireless one. I think you need a plug-in for the wireless one which is prolly how you get the PS3 controllers to work also. I like them because there universal, comfortable, and familiar.

But I can't take the official controller of each console and make that the official controller and expect people to buy all those controllers, by choosing only 1 controller as an official controller, the user saves hundreds of dollars.

Now that I've been selling stuff on ebay lately, I may look into this more. I've been really liking the Xbox 360 controller, unfortunately just a little high in price.

bigNATE : I agree, it's a great controller and very affordable, I just wish it had a better D-Pad. Although I can't really complain because there's not many controllers out there that have a good precise D-Pad, only ones I can think of are controllers that have the same D-Pad as the Playstation (like I said before, the Playstation controllers have the best D-Pads ever made).

I dunno, I think the D-Pad on the Logi Dual is pretty good, though admittedly I dont use it as often, I normally use my old thrustmaster firestorm for snes/nes games out of habit.

DarkHyren : That wouldn't work with an N64 game (not enough buttons and no analog), the controller has to be able to work for all the RGR games.

Oh I know that, I was just saying that it has a good D-Pad.
As I said, I use it for nes/snes games, well them and genesis/gameboy too.
I wouldnt use it for N64 games lol, I use my Logi Dual for any games that should use an analog stick.
But I suppose though if they didnt change their D-Pad sensitivity too much, this one might work-

I just bought this one two weeks ago.

I think it's the same as the USB 2.0 one you have listed, just from a different company. If it's the same thing, I would recommend it because it's basically perfect, and it works for everything that I've tried.

hypermonkey : Nice, I actually really like that (not from experience but based on the image). It has the dual analog and it has the awesome D-Pad that Playstation controllers have

I have 3 questions about that controller:

1. How easy was it to set up and start using? Was it plug in and play?

2. How precise do the buttons feel and how precise is the D-Pad? (that's always my biggest concern, the d-pad).

3. Is it comfortable to use for a long time?
