Nobody likes PS3 games anymore but how likely is it that they follow thd route of the older games and become collectibles and valuable? And how long would it take to achieve that?

I was at Gamestop today, one that's closing. They cleared out most of their stock, including all their generic cases so they put up hundreds of complete games in their original cases. I thought to myself these are cool to simply have but also wondered if there would ever be demand for them again.

What do you guys think? Also XB360 games.


And in case you were wondering, I grabbed Uncharted 3, Assassins Creed 2, and Final Fantasy 13 for a combined $2.25. They were all in their original cases with their manuals and everything.

zanderlex : I think it's gonna become a sort of PS2 collecting situation. Most of the games will be absolute dirt cheap for the most part. There will probably be some games that go up in price but I can see them being the more rare games. I've been collecting PS2 games for that reason. Very cheap.

As for Xbox 360, I've started collecting some games for the console too. Very cheap as well.

Who knows, maybe some time down the road things will change but I don't think anybody is quite at the point of being nostalgic for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

MoblinGardens : I remember there was this game for the PS1 called Intelligent Qube. I enjoyed playing it but there was a point where I went to trade it in to get more games and Gamestop was like we'll give you $40 for it and this was nearly 2 decades ago when the PS1 games were still being played every day. I couldn't believe it and now it looks like copies of that game with all the stuff intact sells for like $60-80.

The PS3 produced a lot of copies of most of its games from the looks of it. I'm sort of hoping the price doesn't go up, I hate how Nintendo games are always premium, even decades later. I also doubt they'll rise much with the fact that many are available for a very small amount of money via PS Now.

I suppose it doesn't affect me too massively if they become premium though, I'd probably just get a hacked system.

pennylessz : You could say the same thing about NES and SNES games being available with Switch Online but getting the physical versions would cost a fortune for many of them.

Not to mention many of the old Game Boy games that cost $10 in the eshop are selling for $18-30 on Ebay.

Personally I can't really see that happening much because if I wanted a PS3 game most of the time a lot of them are on sale or are cheaper on the PS3 anyways and I just can't really imagine them being collectables myself but that is just me personally if it does happen though that would be kind of interesting but I would still never partake in it myself.
