Since a lot of users liked the Vizzed GO april fools prank and wanted me to keep it, I've decided to keep it. But I'd like to get some feedback.
1. What aspects of the feature do you like? 2. What would you like to see added to the feature? 3. How often should it happen? Not everything can be considered. Things that are simple will be considered more than things that would take many hours to do. Here's a few feature ideas I had thought of. User Types Each user would have 1 or 2 "types". The type would be based on the 2 categories that the user has the most CP in. A type could be something like "game video" which would include every single action involving game videos. Or it could be even more broad to be specific to sections of the website like "Video Game Music Room" or "Vizzed Board". A user's type could determine how easy they are for you to catch based on your type. Page Claiming This adds more of a "board game" element, one similar to Monopoly or Risk. The idea would be that you could "claim" a page by deploying some of your "Vizzémon" cards. Claiming a page could do a number of things (open to ideas). For example, maybe it could mean you would have the power to alter the look of the page in some way. Or that your name would be on the page somewhere showing that you've "claimed" the page. Or maybe you get a point for every page view that your claimed page gets, which would add more competition. The power of your "army" would depend on the sum of their level and the only way someone could take it down and claim the page themself would be to deploy the user cards with a greater sum. Once yours are knocked out, then you get them back to be able to deploy somewhere else. Strategy comes in with having to make decisions like "which page could I hold longer?" or "is it worth deploying this many cards to keep this page or should I spread out my army to more pages?". Items Users have suggested many items already. Some could include: -Increase Catch Duration -Increase Catch Odds -Claim Additional Page Simultaneously Most of these items would be a 1 time use. I'm enjoying this feature also. The announcement bar (the area that shows recent catches) makes the site feel alive and interactive, which is something I like and want to utilize in some other ways. It also gives users a reason to check in with the site throughout the day, even if it's just to deploy an hour trap, leave, come back in an hour to deploy another one. It's also making the users have to explore the site more, which is fun. 1. What aspects of the feature do you like? 2. What would you like to see added to the feature? 3. How often should it happen? So does this mean my type can't be "Rainbow Apocalypse"?
Glad to see that the feature is to stay, it's like those discord bot games except actually incorporated into the site. Anything that encourages more users to investigate the site in its entirety is also welcome. Now when can I wield tgags like a spear? About how often should it happen, I already suggested every six months in the other thread. We could make it happen more often than that to include different perks depending on the season, for example modifying the concept of the 7 Days of Vizzed Christmas in a competition held in December.
About what I like, it surely is the unpredictability. Any page with the new coding can be a trap, and since you don't know if a page is trapped until you land on it, maybe it's too late for you to notice before you're caught. Also, the fact it's not shown who owns a trap in which page once you've deployed a trap of your own somewhere means you can't feel safe anywhere if you're on the hunt. I'd like to suggest introducing trap levels. If a user lays too many traps on a single page they can increase their trap's level, meaning they can take over an existing trap of lower level. We could also do it the other way around so their level is instead reduced, that way users will have to spread their traps more. Or we could make it so laying traps too often makes them reduce their level, or simply reduce their effectivity if it's easier that way. Maybe we could introduce defensive items as well. A "shield" to not be trapped would be too overpowered, maybe we could make it a shield so you would be safe from traps laid by users you've caught but they haven't yet caught you at any level. If the above idea of trap levels goes through, a shield to protect vulnerable traps could also be introduced. About what I like, it surely is the unpredictability. Is there a post that explains Vizzed GO more in depth so I can learn about it? I honestly have no idea what's going on lol. Anything that makes the site more interactive and appealing is a great idea to me. |

I would like to see a trading freature. Allow us to trade by allowing us to catch the same user multiple times, but limited to once a day. |

About the page claiming.
Perhaps you could let us upload our own little banner shaped picture to be displayed when we claim a page? Just my idea. I love creating layouts, having a banner would be fun too. Also, it seems users who don't post use this. I wouldn't make the intervals between runs too long, since it's a feature people enjoy, and we need users to stick around. I'd suggest improving it just a little everytime you start it up again though, that way people have a reason to keep playing. I thought up 2 more suggestions:
1. You can't place a trap on the same page twice in a 24 hour period. This would prevent people from stalking a page, and preventing others from being able to place a trap. It would also encourage more site activity. 2. For the love of all that is holy, please let us see who have been captured by. 1. You can't place a trap on the same page twice in a 24 hour period. EX Palen : I definitely think it should happen more than 2 times a year. It'd be cool as a permanent feature. In order to keep it fresh, maybe it differs slightly depending on season. And maybe different holidays would have various perks, like what you mentioned.
It not showing who has a trap on the page while you have an active trap was unintentional but if users like it that way, I can keep it that way. I'm not sure how I feel about user's being able to take over another user's trap but I do like the idea of a trap effectiveness reducing if you've deployed a trap too many times on the same page. A shield item I like. dkmec20 : It's still new so there's nothing that goes into detail yet. At the moment, it's kinda fun to have the users figure things out on their own. I'll eventually make a thread with full details. thing1 : I still like having it so that you can only catch a user once per a user level. This makes the cards even more precious so if I was to add a trading system, users would have to be a little more clingy to the cards they own. Or I could take that a step in a different direction and have it so that you can't catch a user again if they are of the same level unless you've traded out that card, then you're eligible to catch that card again (which would encourage trading and ultimately encourage activity / communication between users, which is always a good thing). pennylessz : Yeap I've been noticing that a lot. Users who rarely post are using it pretty often. Even a lot of users who have never posted have taken interest thing1 : 1. I think I would instead go with EX Palen's idea of having it so the effectiveness of a trap goes down if deployed on the same page more than once in a 24 hour period. 2. Here are some of the new items I plan on adding (some maybe this week):
New Items Steel Trap Triples the duration of a trap. This is a 1 time use item. -Can be obtained from posting Sticky Trap Triples the chances of catching a user. This is a 1 time use item. -Can be obtained by contributing Steelky Trap Doubles the duration of a trap and also doubles the chances of catching a user. This is a 1 time use item. Extra Trap Lets you have 2 traps deployed at a time. This item isn't stackable (owning more than one doesn't let you deploy more than 2 traps at a time). -Can be purchased from Vizzed Market for 25,000 Viz Ways of Obtaining Items Posting = Steel Trap You can randomly earn a Steel Trap by posting. By default, you have a 1% chance of earning this item with every post. The following increases your odds of obtaining this item: Word Count: Every word increases the odds by 0.01%. This means that a 200 word post would increase your chances by 2%. Post Spree: Every additional post made in a 24 hour period increases your chance by 0.1%. This means that if you've made 50 posts in a 24 hour period, your chances would be increased by 5%. Few Replies: The less replies a thread has, your odds are increased by this much: 0 Replies = x 2 (x 3 if thread was made more than 24 hours ago) 1 Reply = x 1.75 2 Replies = x 1.5 3 Replies = x 1.25 The formula that calculates your chances would look like this: (1 + (Words * 0.01) + (Post Spree * 0.1) ) * Reply Multiplier So if I were to make a post with 100 words and it was my 10th post made in the past 24 hours and it was the 1st reply to a new thread, I'd have a 6% chance of earning the Steel Trap. Contributing = Sticky Trap You can randomly earn a Sticky Trap by contributing to the site. Every CP action worth more than 1 CP has a chance. Your chances = CP amount. An action worth 100 or more CP gaurantees you a sticky trap. An action wroth 25.5 CP would mean you'd have a 25.5% chance of earning this item. Visiting Vizzed Every day you visit Vizzed, you'll win a random item as long as you've deployed at least 1 trap (so this only applies to users who have participated in this game). Here are the odds of winning the items: 10% = Steelky Trap 45% = Steel Trap 45% = Sticky Trap Vizzed Market Users can buy 'Vizzed GO' items from resellers but the items will not be officially sold (except the 'Extra Trap' item). If no users are selling 'Vizzed GO' items, then you'll be unable to buy them with Viz. New Items Steel Trap Triples the duration of a trap. Davideo7 : Then we need to wonder, what motivation can we give them to keep playing? If they don't want to post, and find the steel traps to be unfair, they may stop.
Good for thought anyway, I'm not sure what incentive could be provided. But I guess that could be avoided as long as it stays fresh and fun. I'm probably going to offer a bunch of mid range humble bundle games on here some day. (Because I want people to have more incentive to earn Viz.) So hopefully, Viz becomes more worth collecting. But if I did put up something desirable, I'm worried that members with 500,000+ Viz would snatch it up immediately. If you're running this feature year round. Perhaps you should treat it like indie game companies do, and create a dev log? If you go to Ninja Kiwi's website, their blog has lots of comments from random people. There, they answer questions and share what they've been doing once a week. Weren't you wanting to move the dev forum anyway? Edit: I just thought of something after typing this. What if, we had a separate area of the Vizzed Market, where you could purchase certain games using your collected users/user level? I know you're tight on cash though, so once again. The staff are going to become the "Sticky Trap Unit" xD
I like the formula for the Steel Trap, considering every single factor and not only posting at large. Not sure if it will be enough to encourage activity, but at least it gives users who don't spree that much certain chances to get them as well. As for the reply to me, I'm okay with hosting it as often as possible, keeping it fresh with seasonal or monthly events. And about trap effectiveness, I think it's time for me to start spreading more my traps because apparently the idea is catching on Speaking of seasonal events, do you plan on have this going through the TdV? Because then, every jersey and banner combination could be labeled as a "special edition" of a user, which could mimic the concept of event-only Pokemon and thus allow them to be caught again even if their level hasn't changed. Not sure if, thinking on the board game element, we could give those special cards better stats than regular ones, due to being harder to catch. So I completely missed the April Fools prank and have no idea what this is supposed to be about. I was in London during April Fools plus also couldn't check out Vizzed even if I stayed home; laptop was being repaired lol.
Can anyone explain what this precisely is supposed to be ? Thanks ! Can anyone explain what this precisely is supposed to be ? Thanks ! |

I just started playing yesterday but I am confused as to how it works. When I lay a trap or whatever, how does it collect people? Do I collect people who view that page during my trap duration or how does it work exactly? I just don't understand it completely. I have no clue what I am doing LOL! I just press trap and hope it collects something but a lot of the time nothing happens. |

JigSaw : You lay a trap on a page and it has a chance of catching anyone who visits. I don't remember the catch rate or if the specific number was ever posted anywhere, but the sticky trap triples the catch rate, and the steel trap triples the trap duration. When you catch a user, their level if added to your score. You can only catch the same person again after they've leveled up. |
