I don't think Bryce Harper is going to go to the Yankees, I probably think they are the team least likely to sign him for a few reasons. First of all, regardless of how much money the Yankees have, they're going to be spending way too much money if they go after him. The number one reason for this is that they are already owing a ton for Stanton. But beyond Stanton, they have a lot of bills that are going to start piling up soon. Give it a few years and Judge is going to be making just as much. Same goes for most of their players. Sanchez is probably going to be one of the highest paid catchers in baseball, Andujar is probably going to get as much as David Wright did in his final contract, and then who knows how much guys like Severino, Gleyber, and Frazier are going to get.
They may be forced to let some of them walk down the line, forget signing Harper. The next reason is that their OF is already stacked enough as it is with Stanton, Judge, Hicks, and Frazier.
It's the same for the Cubs. Bryant, Rizzo, and lots of overpaid starters.
I think that the 2 most logical options are the White Sox and the Phillies. Harper's name has been all over the White Sox these past few months and the Phillies look ready to spend.
I also wouldn't rule out the Mets at this point. Brodie has been clear that he's not ruling out expensive risks and there's been a few rumors that the Mets could offer him a similar contract to their first offer to Cespedes but worth more. 3 expensive years with an opt out every year so that he can try to bring up his average and command even more money at 27, 28, and 29.
