Do you prefer physical games or digital games? Honestly, for me, I far prefer physical copies of a game rather than digital, although I do recognize the pros and cons of both digital and physical.

Yeah, going all the way out to Game Stop and back just to buy a new video game can take time, but I really like having a physical copy and something to hold and look at on my shelf. That, and there's not really a lot of download time besides a few updates and patches that may have released after the game. Digital games can take a while to download and take up a lot of space.

Physical copies. In fact, between all my Games and movies, I have 300 disks right now and cartridges now. The only things I download are free games, games that I take, steam games, and switch games.

It's awesome having a physical copy and being able to watch it break after a while.

I always go with the Physical copies over Digital copies, and they are multiple reasons that back up my decision.

1. The amount of space it takes. When you download something, it sucks up a whole lot of data storage, even for the more powerful consoles (like the PS4 & Xbox One), where you probably be lucky to download maybe like 2 high-data games without a SD card inserted. You may have to buy some SD cards, and you might have to buy like 64 GBs or more in order to install those games, and with the price of those SD cards, it really defeats the purpose of downloading a Digital game instead of Physically buying a copy

2. Nostalgia reasons (and basically, showing off), because a lot of people rather buy the physical copies to basically show others of their gaming collection to friends and family, and on the online community. With Digital copies, you can only show them when you sign onto your console, and that isn't as fun and exciting as having them shown physically

3. The value of games can increase over time. Like for an example, an unopened physical copy of EarthBound (released in 1995) cost around us$1,000 today, which in 1995, an unopened copy only cost us$70. If you download it digitally, it won't have hardly any value added towards it over time, means in EarthBound's case, you lost like us$930 in value, and face it, that's enough to buy 1-2 brand new consoles, and a ton of new games.

The only way that I will download any games is if it's one of those Download-Only titles, or one of those freemium games that has like 2 minutes of gameplay until you beat the game.

I've always prefered physical copies of games over digital copies, however for certain games I have begun to opt for the digital copy for one reason - pre-orders. If it is a game I am really excited for, I may decided to do a digital pre-order so I can play the game as soon as it comes out. I typically do this for MLB The Show.

Lexatom : I much prefer digital. I tend to lose things, and only having to keep track of one thing helps. I love the sales on certain games, too, that are cheaper digital than physical. I dislike the DRN-management, but I'd rather deal with that and keep a game than lose it and not be able to play it when I like.

It's also easier managing games that are digital. I don't have to have them take up room on a shelf, to be rummaged through, get scratched, etc. I can pull up my Steam library and play a completely unscratched game in an instant. Or, I can take my 3DS with dozens of games installed and play the game I like by tapping its icon.

I HATE digital.

Digital has zero collectible value.

Digital has zero resale value. In fact, I think it might actually be illegal to resell digital, but I'm unsure on that one.

Digital doesn't have to go down in price due to a drop in demand.

You can't own something that's digital. If you can't hold it, you don't own it.

Digital opens up the possibility of patches and fixes and even content updates, but is used as an excuse to price gouge on paid DLC, oftentimes things that should've already been in the base game that you paid full price for already,

30 gigabyte day one patches

That list could probably keep going. I can't think of a single pro about digital where the cons don't outweigh. Digital sucks.

I always buy physical, don't want to lose the games I payed for simply cause the servers are gone. Plus I usually dump the roms of them and put them on a flash cart so I can have my entire collection in a single place.

You don't own digital games, you're simply buying a license to download and play them. They can pretty easily take that away from you, I'm pretty sure.

Physical is the only way, even if it's inconvenient.

I prefer physical copies for many of the reasons people have mentioned.

I'm not opposed to owning digital copies of games though. I've got a steam account and own some games through it.

The only issue I have with digital is when you can't play the game without being connected to the internet. That definitely bugs me.

Physical, mainly because you truly own a physical game, and for a downloadable game, you only own it so long as the service that provides it to you is available.

Also, it's much cooler to have a physical game for the sake of putting it on a shelf and being able to look at your collection.

For the most part I prefer physical simply because it takes up less space on the console. However, living in a town with no EB Games/Gamestop means that if I want a game when it comes out, I need to buy it digitally so I just kind of make do. Plus there are a lot of indie games that simply don't have a physical release, so not much can be done about that either

I was actually about to make a rant about how much I hate digital before I realized I already did that here. I suppose that's how strongly I feel about it.

I’ve always been a physical guy, I buy almost all of my games on physical copies. The only games I buy digital are steam, because you can’t get physical copies.

But for stuff like games on the Nintendo E-Shop, I always buy those physical, I love to be able to hold the games and put the carts in.

Unless there's a really amazing sale going on or the game's not available physically, I always go for physical. I still find it kind of sad that PC gaming is stuck with digital most of the time...If people started selling USB sticks or something like that with their games on them, I'd buy them.

I don't have that much space for physical games anymore so if I get a physical copy, it's gonna be for a game I know I really want to have physically. Otherwise I'm pretty much digital all the way.

nakina : Man if you have a ton of physical games, space can be an issue. I had to spend money on one of those giant disc cases where I can put like 500 into one. Ended up throwing out more than 300 cases over the last year which would have gone from my floor to my roof 3 times.

I download 100% of all my PC games these days (course, I dare you to find any games that still come out on CD-ROM), but for my consoles, I actually still buy physical copies. I guess physical copies still have some form of appeal to them.
