Mega Man X3

Mega Man X3 Review
I have reviewed remakes of Mega Man X3 and hacks mainly the Zero Project hacks. However, to my knowledge I have never reviewed the original. The Original Mega Man X3 was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Mega Man X3 is one of my favorite X games in the series. Today I'm going to be reviewing this classic and all time favorite.

Story 10

Mega Man X3 takes place several years after X2. Dr. Doppler a reploid scientists has supposedly invented a Sigma Virus Vaccine. Humans and Reploids gather around Doppler Town named after the scientist. Everything is going well and it appears a golden age is developing. Suddenly, things start to go wrong. The mavericks which were supposed to be neutralized started to riot. Maverick Hunters X and Zero go to points around the city to see why the mavericks are increasing. They realize that Dr. Doppler might be behind the recent outbreaks. Why has Dr. Doppler gone insane, why is there recent maverick outbreaks, or is an old foe at it again. Mega Man X and Zero head out to get to the bottom of the uprising.

Okay, when I first played this game I really thought there was a new bad guy. Spoiler Alert Sigma is revealed halfway through the game to be the mastermind. But at first you do not know that. It was like Capcom was offering something new. The first two games it was obvious and known that Sigma was the main bad guy. I really like the story because it was creative, and trying to give the illusion of something different. Thus, I give the Story a 10 out of 10.

Graphics and Controls-10

The graphics in this game are just amazing. The backgrounds are nice an colorful. The Frozen City looks like a winter wonderland and is a nice touch. The jungle state looks like an actual jungle. All the stages are nicely done. The sprites are also nicely done. There is not one single lag in this came. Later versions of this game had a few lags but not the original. The graphics cannot ge... Mega Man 64 also known as Legends
I consider myself a Mega Man player. I have played the classical Mega Man, Mega Man X, Hacks, and the Legends series. Mega Man 64 also known as Legends were released on the N64 and Play Station 1. The first version I got was the Play Station version. I did not get the 64 version until later that is because I got the N64 years later. I will be for the most part comparing this version to the Play Station Version.

Plot- The world is surrounded by more water than before. The world is desperate for resources. Diggers go into the ruins built by ancient humans, yeah this takes place centuries after this game came out, these ruins are filled with reaverbots who attack anyone that goes inside them. The main job of the diggers is to retrieve refractors which can be used to make electricity, power machines, among other things. Mega Man Trigger is of mysterious origin. He is taken in by a digger family and becomes an archaeologist as well as a top digger. He lives on an airship but the family he lives with crashes on Kattelox Island. Mega Man Trigger must get parts for his ship, defend the city from pirates and hopefully discover things from his past on who he actually is. He must also discover the secrets to Kattelox Island.

Okay, The plot is not changed from the play station version since both versions came within a few months of each other just on different video game systems. It should be no surprise that the plot is the same. When I first got the playstation version I thought this is a different game its something new. There is no mention of Dr. Wily or Sigma in this plot. A few years later when I got the N64 version I felt the same way. Thus, I will give the story a solid 9 out of 10.

Graphics and Controls- The main difference between this version and the Playstation version is the graphics. The Playstation version had awesome graphics. The PS graphics were colorful and the controls were amazing. When I got this version I was curious to see ... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man III - The Rise and Fall of Dr. Wily

Mega Man 3 Rise and fall of Dr. Wily Review.
Mega Man 3 was one of the selling NES video games back in the Nintendo Entertainment System's heyday. While Mega Man 2 put the Mega Man series on the map, Mega Man 3 made the series and characters icons in the video game industry. It should come as no surprise that Mega Man 3 has been remade several times and ported to different systems. However, it should also come as no surprise that a lot of hacks have been done using this game. Mega Man 3 the Rise and Fall of Dr. Wily is a hack of Mega Man 3. I will be comparing this game to the original as well as other hacks of MM3 I have played.

Story-The Story has remained the same. Dr. Wily appears to have denounced his evil ways. He teams up with Dr. Light also known as Dr. Right to build a peace keeping robot named Gamma. However, to power Gamma they need 8 crystals. The problem is 8 new robot masters has a crystal and they are running haywire. Dr. Light sends Mega Man to retrieve the crystals, stop the robots, and stop whoever is in charge of these new robots. Has Dr. Wily really turned good? Mega Man goes out to find these answers.

The original Mega Man 3 had a good solid story line. In my opinion there was no need to change it. The maker of this game decided to keep the original story. Since the plot is left unchanged I give the story a solid 8 out of 10.

Graphics and Controls- I really like the graphics in this game. The maker not only redesigned the stage layouts, but they made the colors darker and bolder. I am visually impaired so it was nice to enjoy the game's background with colors that I can see. For example, Gemini's Man stage has some yellow in. But the blocks change purple, red, green, and blue. I also like how some of the backgrounds in other stages have been changed to bold colors. The stage layouts make the game more difficult, but they were nicely done.

The only problem with the graphics and controls. Is a few times it seems like the controls and graphics lagged a ... Read the rest of this Review
Roll-chan 2 (Classic Roll)

Roll Take 2
Mega Man 2 is considered the game that put the Mega Man Franchise on the map. Even though, this game was the second in the series it really established Mega Man as a true video game icon. It should be no surprise that several hacks have been made of this game. Roll-Chan 2 is a hack of Mega Man 2. This time you get to play as Mega Man and Proto Man's sister Roll. I will be reviewing this game as well as comparing it to the original.

Story-8

The story is similar to the original game except it features roll. Basically the story is from the First Roll Game. Roll was modified into a fighting robot along with her brother Mega Man. Roll defeated Dr. Wily. Out for revenge Dr Wily created 8 new robot masters and sent them after Roll. In the meantime he also plants to use this 8 robot masters to conquer the world. Roll heads out to once again stop Dr. Wily.

The story is pretty much unchanged from the original game. The only difference is it is made to suit Roll since she is the protagonist in this game. The story is a staple in Mega Man games. Dr. Wily trying a new scheme for world domination. Thus, I give the story a solid 8.

Graphics and Controls-9

The graphics in this game are almost identical to the original game. A few stages have been changed. Also Roll maintains her sprites and colors of her NES days. Now what is difference is Roll's colors are different than Mega Man's even when equipped with special weapons. I really like how the maker/s of this game kept the original graphics and colors for the most part. Mega Man 2 was a huge upgrade over the first game. The colors go well and are amazing. This game does not change that. The only minor problem is sometimes I did notice a slight lag. Now this could be my emulator I was using or it could be part of the game.

The controls in the original game were a huge improvement over the first game. This hack is a huge improvement over Roll-Chan 1. The controls are similar... Read the rest of this Review
Roll-chan (Mega Man 8 Roll)
07-26-23 07:38 PM
Roll One
Mega Man came out in 1987 and it started the Mega Man franchise. Mega Man would become one of the most iconic video game characters in video game history. His games are so popular it should be no surprise several games as well as hacks have been made. Roll-Chan (using Mega Man 8 Roll Costume) is a hack of the original Mega Man game. This time though you get to play as roll Mega Man and Proto Man's sister. I will be reviewing this game and comparing it to the original.

Story-8

The Story is identical to the original Mega Man game. The only difference is it involves Roll. Dr. Light and Dr. Wily create a total of 9 robots to help mankind. Proto Man is designed to be a police type robot but he runs off. Mega Man and Roll are lab robots. The other robots designed are Ice Man, Fire Man, Elec Man, Cut Man, Bomb Man, and Guts Man. However, Dr. Wily takes the 6 robots to try to take over the world. He cannot capture Proto Man because he ran off. He leaves behind Mega Man and Roll because he believes they are useless to him. Lab robots Mega Man and Roll ask to be turned into fighting robots like Proto Man was to stop Dr. Wily. Thus, Mega Man and Roll are enhanced to stop Wily. Roll heads out to try to restore world peace. While Mega Man is on standby.

Okay, I think this story was good in the original Mega Man game, because it introduced the characters well. The original did a good job introducing us to Dr. Light, and Dr. Wily. If you have not played a Mega Man game before this game does a good job of introducing the main characters of this game. Thus, I give the story a solid 8.

Graphics and Controls-7

The original Mega Man game had some problems with controls and graphics. The original game was the very first one so it was no surprise it had its problems. In the original the game could become glitchy at times. The controls could also be difficult at times. In this game some of those issues have been fixed. A lot of the glitches... Roll Chan 4 Review
Mega Man 4 was a popular game back in the day. Several hacks have been made of Mega Man 4. Roll-Chan 4 is a hack of Mega Man 4. The main difference is you get to play as Proto Man and Mega Man's sister Roll. I will be doing a review of this game.

Story-9

The story is identical to the original MM4. It has been changed to accommodate Roll as the main character. The story starts off how Dr. Wily turned evil and Dr. Light modified Mega Man and Roll into fighting robots to counter Dr. Wily. Then the story shows how Roll shattered Wily's plans 3 times. But this time there is a new threat. Dr. Cossack has sent 8 new robot masters to conquer the world and to defeat Roll. Roll heads out to stop Cossack. The question is who is Dr. Cossack why is he doing this? Roll heads out along with her robotic cat Tango to get to the bottom of this.

I give the story a solid 9 rating. When I first played the original MM4 it seemed like it was offering something new and different. I actually fought there was a new bad guy. This hack keeps that feeling.

Graphics and Controls: 10

The original MM4 had awesome graphics and controls. The stages are nice and colorful. This game is no different. Roll uses her classic NES graphics and not her graphics from future games. To me that makes it feel like I'm playing a classic Mega Man game. Now, the colors have been slightly altered to reflect on the main character being Roll. Still, they are well balanced. The stages play very well. I did not notice a lag in this game at all. It was nice to play a hack without any lags.

The controls are almost flawless for a hack. In fact, they are largely the same as the original game. I did not find myself fighting with the controls. The controls are not going to cause you to get hit or fall into a pit. Thus, I give the graphics and controls an awesome 10.

Sound: 10

For me the game really shines in the sound department. The original game h... Read the rest of this Review

Roll-Chan 3 Review (Classic Roll)
Roll-Chan is a hack of Mega Man. Except in this case you get to play as Mega Man Sister Roll. Roll has been modified into a fighting robot named Roll-Chan. This game is a Hack of Mega Man 3 and uses the classic NES version of Roll.

Story- 9

The Story is the same as the original Mega Man 3 except Roll is the main character not Mega Man (Rock). Dr. Wily has supposedly denounced his evil ways and wants to work with Dr. Light also known as Dr. Right in some games. Dr. Light and Wily have built a huge peace keeping robot named Gamma. They need crystals to power up Gamma. Dr. Wily warns Roll there are robot masters running wild. Roll heads out with her new side kick Tango the Cat to retrieve the crystals to power up Gamma. Has Dr. Wily really turned good and who created these Robot Masters? Roll heads out to discover the truth.

I like that the maker of this game used the same story line. Mega Man 3 had a good story. It gave the player the illusion that there was a new bad guy. Therefore, I give the story a 9.

Graphics and Controls 9

The graphics are very good and the stages are pretty much kept the same as the original. Some of the colors have been changed to accommodate Roll as the main character. Also the graphics use Roll's NES graphics. Another version of this game uses Roll's later game sprites. The game pretty much plays very well. However, there are a few times the game does seem to lag. It is not a major lag but it is noticeable. I will be honest anytime you hack a game I suspect a lag especially since the sprites in this game have been slightly changed.

The controls are very good. I do not find myself having to fight the controls. In some hacks the controls seem to be your enemy as they change speed at random. This is not the case in this game. Overall, I give the graphics/controls a solid 9 out of 10.

Mega Man X3 Zero Hack #4 Review
Mega Man X3 was a popular video game for the SNES. The game along with X1 and X2 ranks high among top 100 SNES video games. The original X3 allowed the player to play as Zero in a limited ability. This was the first game were the player could play as zero. Due to the game's popularity there have been many hacks of this game. Mega Man X3 Zero Project Version #4 is a hack of X3. In this case the player can mostly play as Zero. I will be reviewing this game and comparing it to the original game.

Storm Rating 9

The story is the same as the original game. Dr. Doppler a reploid scientists and engineer supposedly developed a Sigma Virus Vaccine. Mavericks that had been infected seem to be neutralized. It appears Reploids and humans are about to enter a golden age of peace. Doppler Town is built in honor of Dr. Doppler. However, things start to go wrong. Maverick outbreaks start to occur. The mavericks that were thought to be neutralized return to their maverick form. Dr. Doppler appears to be behind this. It appears the vaccine is a ruse. Is Doppler really behind this or has a familiar villain returned. X and Zero head out to get to the bottom of this and stop the latest outbreak.

I really like the story so I'm glad the maker of this hack did not change it. The original story line was great. It offered something new. When I first played the original game I really thought a new bad guy had been introduced in the X franchise. I still like the original story even though I have played the original and these hacks several times. Therefore, I give the story a solid rating of 9.

Graphics and Controls Rating 10

The graphics in the original game were amazing. Earlier Zero hacks of this game had some glitches. This version is a huge improvement. It does not have any glitches that I have found. The controls are amazing. I really like the graphics. I love the backgrounds in all of the stages. I love the winter background in Blizzard Buff... Read the rest of this Review

Mega Man Take 10
My favorite video game series is Mega Man. Mega Man is often ranked in the top 5 of iconic video game characters. As such several Mega Man games have been made. Mega Man 10 was made after the huge success of Mega Man 9. Now, I did not get this game when it came out. I did not have the video game systems this game was made for. But hey, that is what friends are for. I played this game with a little help from my friends. So lets get started in reviewing another Mega Man game.

Story: 10 Mega Man 10 has different stories depending on if you download and play as Bass. Mega Man and Proto Man's story is the same. One day all seems peaceful when suddenly Mega Man and Proto Man's sister Roll falls sick. Roll comes down with a virus that really impacts the robots. A few months later an outbreak of Robenza occurs. Some of the robots start going berserk and are bent on world destruction. Dr Wily comes to the lab and claims he has invented a cure and medicine making machine, but the wild robots stole it.  What is Robenza, how was the virus created, and is Dr. Wily telling the truth? Mega Man and Proto man head out to save their sister, get the medicine back and to get the answer to all these questions.  Bass's Story is different if you download and play as Bass. In Bass's Story the robots become infected with Robenza and they revolt. Bass sets out to prove that he is the strongest robot by defeating these infected robots. But Bass also has questions who is responsible for this and why? Bass sets out in typical Bass fashion to prove he is the greatest. Okay, There is a lot going on in this story. I will say this is probably one of the better story lines in Mega Man games since Mega Man 7. Yes, I think this story is better than Mega Man 9. I like the idea of having two plots depending on the characters. Having two plots matches the characters well. Mega Man and Proto Man are heading out because they have strong senses of justices. Bass,... Read the rest of this Review

Mega Man 9
Time for another review of one of the video game's industries iconic characters Mega Man. Mega Man 9 came out 10 years ago. Now, I did not get this game when it came out because I did not have WII or XBOX. But as the old saying goes that is what friends are far. Some of my friends have the WII and that is how I was able to play this game. So I will be comparing this game to other classic series.

Story: 9 Mega Man 9 has a different story than most Mega Man games. Dr. Light has created robots to help humanity. Suddenly the robots go on a path of destruction. Dr. Wily makes a video saying how he has turned his ways in the video Dr. Light ask Wily to join him. Dr. Wily even ask for money to help raise an army to fight the robot masters. The police even come and arrest Dr. Light. Mega Man knows that Dr. Wily is behind all of these somehow. He heads out to clear Dr. Lights name and stop Wily. But why have Light's robots revolted has somebody made them go crazy? It should be noted you can play as Proto Man after unlocking him the story does not change much with Proto Man. Okay, I actually liked this story because it offered something new to the series. The fake bad guy plot was good back in the day, but Capcom had gone that route several times in the past. Having Dr. Wily seem like a good guy was a nice show of creativity. Having Wily play the good guy card allows for a plot twists later in the game. I give the story a 9 out of 10 because it was creative Graphics and Controls 9 Mega Man 9 is a return to classic NES graphics. I have played Mega Man games since I was a kid. I was glad to see a return to old school days. The NES style is what made Mega Man games such a hit. I think Capcom got the message that some gamers were not impressed with Mega Man 8 graphics. Just to be clear Mega Man 8 was not a horrible game. The backgrounds in this game are nicely done. The color and stage background fit their themes very well. Mega Man's sprit... Kirby\'s Avalanche

Avalanche Warning
November is upon on us and that means Winter is one month away. However for some places November brings the first snowfall and that can mean avalanche. Except today I will not be talking about the weather event. Today, I am going to be reviewing a puzzle game called Kirby's Avalanche. Lets see how this game compares to similar games.

Story: 8 It is time for the annual Avalanche Championship Tournament in Dreamland. King DeDeDe was the previous champion and Meta Knight was the champion before King DeDeDE. Kirby enters the event hoping to become Dreamland's new Champion. However, it will not be easy as Kirby must defeat several characters. In addition, he must go up against the previous two champions King DeDeDe and Meta Knight. The player controls Kirby in his quest. To do so you must match or get 4 beans or marbles of the same color to connect . Also you must make your way to the championship round by going through several characters. Okay, I actually like the plot here and that is saying a lot because most puzzle games are not known for their stories. But this one has a creative story to it. Having a puzzle championship is kind of creative it offered something new to the Kirby Series. In most Kirby games its usually Dark Mind or Dark Matter as he is sometimes called invading Dream Land. Another game saw King DeDeDe try to raid kitchens in Dreamland. It actually feels like a Kirby game with all the main characters in it.  I give the story  good solid 8 out of 10. Graphics and Controls: 9 The graphics are very good for this type of game. The beans or marbles are very bright and colorful. The sprites match the characters very well. Also the backgrounds go along with the different levels. In fact, the graphics are almost the same as another similar game Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I will get to that in a little bit. I think the graphics are pretty good considering unlike other Kirby games there are not any long st... Read the rest of this Review

Doctor Robotnik's Mean Machine
Puzzle games are games that are sometimes often overlooked. However, some have become well known such as Dr. Mario, Tetris, and Puzzle League. Sega got into the puzzle game with Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I will be comparing this game to other puzzle games.

Story 7 The happy Beans of Beanville are generally happy and jolly. They enjoy music and good times. Beanville boarders Dr. Robotnki's own city of Mobius. The mad doctor hates the music, fun, and jolly. So he invents a machine that will turn the beans into robots in his own words to do his dirty work. He sends out his Batnik army to collect the beans and challenge Has Bean to a puzzle match.  The player controls Has Bean as the goal is to beat the batniks to free the beans. Defeating Robotnik, is the only way to return the robot beans back to normal and destroy the mean bean machine. Can you save the beans and destroy the doctors plans or will the doctor get his way? Okay, puzzle games are not known for their plots. But this one has a decent plot. Having Dr. Robotnik invent a machine to ride the happy jolly beans is creative. When I first played this I thought for sure Sonic would appear but he is not even referenced. But giving the plot Sonic being brought in was not needed.  So 7 out of 10 sounds about right. Graphics and Controls 9 The graphics in this game are very good. The colors of the beans and backgrounds were nicely done. I also like how the Batniks are their original colors.  The fortress reminds me of a Mega Man game. In addition, the sprites are nicely done. I really like the animation of the batniks and Has Bean. Not one time does the game lag either The controls are very nice  and seem to run smooth. I would argue the controls are on par with Dr. Mario. Sometimes puzzle games do not have the best control. Not one time do the controls appear to slow down, lock up or change speeds. Thus, I give the graphics and controls a solid 9 out ... Read the rest of this Review

Baseball Stars
Spring and summer are baseball months. Baseball is America's past time and is still a very popular game. Just about every gaming system has had a baseball game for that system. Baseball Stars is a baseball game for the regular Nintendo (NES). I will be reviewing this game and comparing it to the previous NES baseball game as well as games that came after it.

Story: 6 Like, most sports games the plot is not detailed like Mega Man and Mario games. Basically its spring and that means its opening day for baseball. Time for teams to take the field. The goal is to pick a team and try to advance with that team. But it will not be easy as there are other teams out there wanting to advance too. Can you advance with your team. There are different modes in this game such as owner or manager. No matter what you pick the goal is the same Okay, this is your standard sport game plot. The plot is simple try to advance your team. Nothing really special. However, given that you can play in manager or owner mode. That adds something to this game. So I give the plot a 6 out of 10. Graphics and Controls: 9 Baseball Stars had much better graphics then its predecessor Baseball NES which came out 4 or 5 years before Baseball Stars. In the Baseball game the players were fuzzy, the spectators were also fuzzy. Baseball Stars fixed that. The graphics in this game are pretty good and showed what the NES could do at its peak. The players look like actual players. The fans look like actual people. In addition, the stadiums look like actual ball parks. Moreover, the fields look like grass and the sky looks like an actual sky. The colors are nicely done. In the previous game the graphics were so-so.

The controls are much improved from the previous game. The previous game had sloppy controls. In this game the controls are pretty smooth. I did not notice any lags or slow downs like I did in the first game. Thus, I give the graphics and controls a soli... Read the rest of this Review
Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball

Ken Griffey Baseball for SNES
Baseball is America's past time. Still today Baseball is the second most popular sport in baseball slightly behind the NFL. So it should be  no surprise that a lot of baseball games have been made. Sometimes baseball games feature popular stars. In the 1990's one of the games most popular players was Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. SNES released a game called Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball. I will be reviewing this game and comparing it to others.

Story: 6 Its the start of the 1994 major league baseball season. The goal is to chose your team and hopefully advance.  Can you guide your team into the postseason? However it will not be easy as other 27 teams have the same goal. (Major League Baseball now has 30 teams, but when this game came out there were only 28). Also chances are your team will have to meet one of the best players of all time Ken Griffey Jr.  Okay the plot here is standard for this type of game. Sports games are not know for their plots.  I think this is a good time to bring up something about this game. Ken Griffey JR and a few others are the only real players in this game. The ballparks, teams and team stats are real but the players names are made up.  The reason for this is MLB did license this game. However the Players Union did not license the players except for Griffey. The other players that are real in this game are not members of the Players Union.  So a lot of players names were changed to avoid legal trouble. You can tell who is who by going on baseball references pages. Other than that, I really like the plot here even if it is lacking in details. I mean come on this is a baseball game and its awesome. I give the story about a 6 Graphics and Controls: 9
The Graphics and Controls are very good in this game. Better than the severely flawed Nolan Ryan baseball game which was not even licensed with MLB. The fans look like actual people. The stadiums look like they do... Read the rest of this Review

old school baseball game
Today we are going to take a trip down memory lane. If you grew up in the 1980's like me the two gaming systems that were popular were the Atari and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES for short). The NES came out in the mid 1980's. All kinds of games were released on the NES including sports game. NES Baseball is one of the first Nintendo games and one of the first sporting games.

Story: 4This being a sports game there is not much of a plot. The main plot is its baseball season and its time to play ball. The player has 6 teams to chose from. The main goal is to play against another team and win.  Other than that there really isn't much to see here compared to other sports games. Baseball games for the Play Station and modern games one could play through a 162 game season, play against other teams in hopes in making it to the world series. In NES baseball there isn't anything like that. So yeah, 4 out of 10 seems right Graphics and Controls 7
By today's standards the graphics and controls were be sloppy. However, I'm basing my rating on what the graphics looked like back then. When I first played this game back in the day I thought the graphics were amazing. One could argue that the graphics were revolutionary. As the graphics were much improved from the Atari graphics. I really like how the colors blend in  the background it reminds me of opening day of baseball season. The colors were pretty well done for this type of game. The one thing though is some of the sprites are still off and look fuzzy. They look a whole lot better than the Atari days, but you can tell they are still off. However, I would expect that because this is one of the first NES games. The controls seem a little stiff it seems like you really have to mash the button to swing or run. Again, though this is one of the first games so I would expect stiff controls. The controls are not really frustrating you just have to press them to get them ... Read the rest of this Review

Bare Knuckle II Street Fighting
Bare Knuckle II  or Streets of rage 2 as it is known in the USA/Canada was a popular beat em up type of game for the Sega. Street fighter developed by Capcom was also popular on both the Sega and SNES systems. So the question is what if the two games were mixed and what would it be like? Well, that is what this game tries to do. As this game you can play as Balrog, Bison, Cammy and Zangief from the Street Fighter series. So lets see how this game compares to others.

Story: 6 Mister X the leader of the criminal organization  was defeated by Adam, Blaze and Axle. Crime in the city dropped and it seemed all was well. Until a crime outbreak starts to occur again. In addition Mister X kidnaps Adam in an attempt to lure the heroes into a trap. Blaze and Axle get Adam's kid brother skate, as well as Wrestling Champion Max. However, street fighter characters have also joined.  Now here is were the plot seems to be missing something and kind of comes undone.  How did the streets of rage characters contact the Street fighter characters? That really wasn't explained at all in the plot. It is also not explained in the game either.  The street fighter characters you can play as are Bison, Balrog, Cammy and Zangief.  Based on their street fighter backgrounds one can could conclude why they are in this game Bison- criminal mastermind and leader of Shadlow  criminal organization. It could be that Bison sees Mister X as a top rival. Its possible Bison joins in to eliminate his rival Balrog- Boxer but a dirty one at that. All Balrog cares about is money. So he probably entered to earn money Cammy- high ranking British Officer that wants to bring Bison to justice. Her unit also goes after other criminal organizations. Zangief- Russia champion and top fighter. Probably entered to make his country proud and in the Street fighter series Zangief is a good guy. I give the story a 6 out of 10. It just seems... Read the rest of this Review
Streets of Rage 2 - Syndicate Wars

Streets of rage 2 Syndicate wars.
Streets of rage 2 was a popular sega game that came out in the early 1990's. In other countries the game is known as Bare Knuckle II. Streets of rage 2 was popular because it was a beat em up type of game. Over the years several hacks have been made of this game. However, the demand has always been to get to play as some of the villains in the game. Well now you can play as the bad guys in this hack. Today's review I will be comparing this game to the original as well as other hacks.

Story: 9

The plot basically has three in it depending on if you play as a good guy or bad guy. Mister X has his own story. So I will cover both stories. The good guys are Max, Blaze, Axle, Adam and Skate. The bad guys are: Galsa, Donovan, Jet, Signal, Barbon,  Electra, Abedebe, R, Bear, Shiva and Mr. X. Anyway lets get to the point. After Mister X was defeated and crime went way down all seemed to go very well. Until crime breaks out again and Mr. X starts to regain control of the city. Except this time he has his top officers in his organization helping him. The good guys must stop the carnage and bring Mister X to justice. Now if you play as a bad guy the plot is different. The bad guys are wanting to gain more power so they set out to make sure they can achieve this as any way power. Some are also hoping to move up the ladder. Mister X story is he is basically tired of people failing him and he wants more power. So he sets out to show his minions how it is done. Okay I really like this plot. I like it that it has three different things going for it. Also getting to play as some of the villains is just awesome. I really like how the maker or makers gave the bad guys a plot on their own. I mean every story fits the characters. The good guys are trying to stop Mister X. The bad guys are wanting more power and Mister X wants more power and to expand his empire. The plot is very simple so 9 out of 10 does it. Graphics and Controls: 9 ... Read the rest of this Review
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs

return of Battle Toads
Battle Toads is a well know beat em up franchise developed by Rare. The same company that gave us Donkey Kong Country, and Banjo/Kazooie. Battletoads was popular in the 1990's. The first game came out for the NES and was a hit. Other Battle Toads games followed. Battlemaniacs came out a few years after the first game. Except this version was for the SNES as the NES was discontinued. Lets see how Battlemaniacs stacks up overall

Story: 9

In the mountains of Tibet, Professor Byrd is showing the Toads, along with
their friend princess Tashoku a teleporter. Suddenly the teleporter comes to
life with an army of pigs coming out of it. Tahoku gets captured. Zitz tries to
intervene but he gets knocked out cold and is also captured. Volkmire reveals
that being a computer engineer, invented the teleporter, and made a deal with
the Dark Queen. He goes on to tel how this is his step to take over the world
using technology. The Dark Queen reveals that she has the Toads friend's
hostages and she set the entire thing up for revenge. She then challenges the
toads to come to her  home world again to dare and rescue their friends.
Rash, and Pimple jump in the teleporter to get their friends back and to stop
the Dark Queen as well as Volkmire's scheme. But it will not be easy as they
must go through several obstacles.

Okay this story has a lot going on. Yes it is your revenge plot but it does not
sound like your typical revenge plot. In most revenge plots its the the villain
setting out revenge. In this plot you have two villains. Also you have a rescue
plot in this story as well. Not only must your stop the evil villains but you
must rescue your friends. I really like the idea of using technology in this
game. I like it because when this game came out we were just entering the tech
boom in the 1990's.  To me this plot shows creativity. Thus, I give it a ... Read the rest of this Review
Flash in Streets of Rage 2

Bare Knuckle II in a Flash
Bare Knuckle II also known as streets of rage 2 was a popular beat em up game for the Sega System. The game has been remastered several times. Also there are several hacks of this game. The Flash is a popular comic book hero mostly associated with the Justice League. As his name applies he is very fast.

Story: 8 After the defeat of Mister X leader of the crime world things seem to have returned to normal in the city. Suddenly a new outbreak of crime returns to the city. Mister X also kidnaps Adam in revenge for his defeat. He also hopes to lure Axle and Blaze into a trap.  Axle and Blaze get Adam's kid brother Skate, and Axles world champion wrestling friend Max to take down the crime organization. However, they also get help from the Flash a Justice League Hero to help them too. The Flash sets out to help his new friends, and bring Mister X to justice. Okay, the story keeps up with the original. The only big change was the story was changed to tie the Flash into it. I personally like the idea of getting some of the justice league members on this type of game. When you really think about it, it kind of suits them find. The main issue I have with the story is how did they contact the Justice League and how did they get the Flash to help them. There are several possibilities here that could be explored. Its like the story is missing something. Still very good plot so I give it an 8 out of 10.
Graphics and Controls 7
The stage layouts have not been changed and the stages backgrounds are the same. That is very good because the stages as well as the backgrounds did not need to be changed at all. The original game had some of the best graphics for a Sega game. Moreover, the colors have been unchanged as well.  The sprites are also left unchanged. Basically the graphics from the original game have not been changed. The controls in this version kind of suffer. The Flash is really hard to control at times. It s... Read the rest of this Review
Streets of Rage 2 and Knuckles

Knuckles in Bare Knuckle 2
If you are an old school gamer like me you probably played the game known as Bare Knuckle 2 also known as streets of Rage 2. You probably have also heard of a character that debuted in the sonic franchise called Knuckles. Knuckles has become one of the sonic franchises most popular characters along with: Dr. Robotnik, Sonic, Tails and Amy Rose. Streets of Rage 2 was one of the more popular beat em up games in the 1990's. Now you can play Bare Knuckle 2 as Knuckles

Story:8 Three police officers Adam, Axle and Blaze took down the crime boss Mister X. X's organization was supposedly severely weakened. A year later though crime breaks out again. Mr. X kidnaps Adam to lure Axle and Blaze into a trap. Blaze and Axle get Adam's kid brother Skate, and Axles good friend Wrestling Champion Max to take out the crime organization and Mr. X. However they also get help from Knuckles the Echidna to help them along the way. Okay the story line has been altered some to fit Knuckles into it. I personally like having knuckles in this type of game as it fits his style very well. However, it just seems like something is missing here. While they got Knuckles to help how did the characters reach out to him, and how did they contact him. The possibilities are endless and I would have loved to see that in more detail. Still the story is good so 8 out of 10 sounds right. Graphics and Controls 8The graphics are really good in this game. In fact, they are pretty much unchanged. All of the stages maintain their amazing graphics and backgrounds. Streets of Rage 2 had some of the best graphics among the Sega Games in the 1990's. It is amazing that the city themed looks like an actual city. The sprites have changed colors that are still very good. Knuckles graphics are very good in this game and his sprites are good as well.  The controls are pretty much good. Knuckles plays a lot like Axle does in the original game. Now sometimes the controls did seem ... Read the rest of this Review
Streets of Rage 2 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant NinjaTurtles in Streets of Rage 2
Streets of rage 2 was a popular video game for Sega. The game was the second installment in the Bare Knuckle Series (Streets of rage). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a popular series that has its own video game series. TMNT has had lots of comics, video games, and even movies done on them. This is a hack where you can play streets of rage using the Turtles.

Story: 8A year has passed since the crime boss Mr X was defeated. Suddenly crime breaks out again and Adam gets ambushed and kidnapped. Mr. X sends Axle and Blaze a letter challenging them. However, they will be going against tougher criminals than they did last time. For assistance the Bare Knuckle team gets the Teenage Mutant Turtles to help them out. Now Leo, Don, Raphael, and Mike set out to take down Mr. X. After all fighting ninjas and crime is what the Turtles do best. Okay I really like the plot here. It maintains part of the original game plot which made the original game great. But I like the turtles being inserted in the plot. I mean the turtles fit this game nicely. It should also be noted that the Turtles had their own beat em up game around the time the original streets of rage 2 came out Turtles in Time. So it makes sense why they would be in a game like this. Therefore I give the plot a solid 8 out of 10. The reason I do not give it a 9 or to a 10 is I really would like to have seen how they contacted the Turtles in the Plot. Like the plot could have shown the Bare Knuckle team reaching out to them by calling them, meeting them or etc. Still a good plot overall. Graphics and Controls: 9 The graphics are pretty much the same as the original game which is good. Streets of Rage 2 had some of the best graphics among the Sega games and really showed what the Mega System was capable of at its peak. The way the city lights light up reminds you of an actual city at night. The backgrounds really fit the stage themes very well. The sprites are amazing as well. The Turtle's Spr... Streets of Rage 2 Robo Cop
Streets of rage two also known as Bare Knuckle II is a popular beat em up game. The game was very popular during the Sega Genesis era. It should be no surprise that several hacks of this game exists. I will be reviewing a hack that lets you play as Robo-Cop the cyborg crime fighter who has a series of his own. I will be comparing this hack to the original game as well as other hacks.

Story: 8Mr X was defeated by the vigilantes Axle, Adam and Blaze. The city was safe and crime rapidly dropped. However, an outbreak of crime takes the city by storm. Adam is ambushed and kidnapped by X in hopes to lure the other vigilantes in a trap. Mr X has also rebuilt his criminal organization back up as well.  Axle and Blaze get Adam's young brother Skate as well as good friend Max who is a world champion wrestle. Due to the huge outbreak of criminals the vigilantes bring in the cyborg policemen named Robo Cop. Robo Cop sets out to help his new friends and do what he does best take out criminals and their bosses. Okay this plot is really good it stays with the original for the most part. The only change that is made is the story now fits Robo Cop. I liked how Robo Cop is introduced in the new story. I also think Robo Cop fits well into these type of games. Robo Cop as his name applies is a cyborg cop who has a strong sense of justice. The Vigilantes also have a strong sense of justice. So yeah bringing in Robo Cop was not hard at all and really did not change anything from the original game. I give it a good 8 out of 10. Graphics and Controls: 8 The stages have not been changed at all. The original game had amazing stages and graphics. Streets of Rage 2 really showed what the Master Drive unit was capable of. It is amazing how the city lights light up, the backgrounds and colors are very well done. This hack keeps a lot of that in place. In another Streets of Rage 2 Hack I reviewed (Mega Man Version) I brought up how the Play Station Mega Man vers... Read the rest of this Review
Streets of Rage - Mega Man Edition

Bare Knuckle Mega Man Style
If you had a Sega Genesis Master System back in the day chances are you have heard of a game series called Streets of Rage (also known as Bare Knuckle).  Streets of rage was a series of beat em up games in the early 90's. The most popular one was Streets of Rage 2. Streets of Rage 2 is often ranked as one of the greatest Sega games of all time. It should be no surprise that several hacks exists of Streets of Rage 2. One of the hacks allows you to play as Mega Man (also known as Rock). I will be comparing this hack to the original game.

Story: 8  The story was changed somewhat to fit being able to play as Mega Man. Mister X was a mafia and syndicate leader. He was defeated by Axle, Blaze and Adam. Crime in the city dropped however all was not as it seemed to be. Crime started to take over the city again. As revenge X ambushes and kidnaps Adam.  Axle, Blaze, Skate (Adams young brother) and Max a world champion wrestler set out to take down Mister X once in for all. However, since it will not be as easy as it was last time the four friends get Mega Man to help them.  Mega Man heads out to stop X and help his new friends. To get to X Mega Man will have to battle some of the toughest criminals.

Okay, I really like how the story was changed to fit Mega Man playing into it. The game keeps most of the same plot. Streets of Rage 2 had a very awesome plot to it so it really did not need to be changed a lot. I give the plot a good solid 8 out of 10.

Graphics and Controls: 7

The game uses mostly the same graphics as the original game. The backgrounds have not been changed which they did not need to be because they are awesome. The colors are very nicely done and left unchanged. I really like the stage themes in this game as they are the original. However, there is one problem and to some it might not be a problem. Why did the maker of this game use Play Station Mega Man graphics. Str... Read the rest of this Review

Mega Man Forever (Demo III)
Mega Man is a popular video game character. In fact he is considered a video game icon. In addition, he is often ranked in the top 5 of most popular video game franchises of all time. So, it should be no surprise that a lot of hacks have been made of the iconic character. Mega Man Forever is a Mega Man hack. The game appears to use graphics from various Mega Man games. Warning this review will contain tornado rants

Story: 6 The story is basically  a group of  robots go  crazy in a warehouse/robot factory. All that is known is that the robots   are members of the  alliance. Mega Man thinks Wily is behind this. Dr. Light seems to agree. He sends Mega Man out to find out why the alliance robots went mad. Who is behind the carnage is it Wily or is it somebody else this time. Mega Man heads out to search these answers.

Okay I think the plot has something going for it. Introducing a new group of robots was creative and seems to want to offer something new. However, something is missing. It seems the plot is missing something. What was the alliances purpose, who created them, and did they have a job before they went mad. In other Mega Man plots these answers are usually explained. For example in other games its Wily rebuilt the robots, a virus made them go mad, or somebody was controlling them. In this game it leaves you hanging. Maybe the maker wanted it that way but it just feels like the plot is not as clear as it could be. I give it a 6 out of 10. I like the new robots and new organization. I don't like that we know nothing about them.

Graphics and Controls: 5

When I first played the intro stage I was like "wow the graphics are going to be good in this game" the colors were very good and I liked the layout. However that quickly changed. A lot of the stages have great colors but good something got lost somewhere. Remember how I said how this review would contain torn... Read the rest of this Review

Crash (A trip down memory lane)
Today we are taking a trip memory lane. If you where born before 2005 you may have heard of a store called Circuit City. Chances are you have heard of the very first Playstation. The Playstation came out in 1996/1997. Circuit City seemed to be the place for Playstation gear. They carried everything pertaining to the Playstation including lots of games. Crash Bandicoot came with the Playstation system. In addition, Circuit city would often have Playstations hooked up so people could play them. I can remember my parents would look around and I would go to the Playstation section. One of the games they had going was Crash Bandicoot. Finally, for Christmas I got a Playstation mine came with Crash Bandicoot. But my parents got me Mega Man Legends, Mega Man 8, and MLB 2000. Me being a Mega Man fan as well as a baseball fan I played those games the most. I played Crash some but I kind of forgot about the game. Last year on facebook I saw a post remember when Crash came out. I thought I had that game. So I started playing it. So in this review we will be going down memory lane.

Story: 8 The story for Crash is pretty good considering this was the first game in the Crash Series. Crash an intelligent but laid back animal was captured by the evil scientists Dr. Brio and Dr. Cortex. The doctors plan on mutating animals on the Wumpa Islands, which is Crash's home, to use as an army to take over the world. Crash is mutated but the doctors try to enhance him more as he is supposed to be the commander of the army. Instead Crash escapes the doctors send the animals they have mutated and have under their control out to capture crash. To make matters worse the doctors have captured Tawna Crash's girlfriend. They intend to enhance her and Crash. Crash sets out to rescue his girlfriend, stop the doctors evil plan, and free the animals. However, it will not be easy as Crash must defeat the mutated and enhanced animals and deal with other obstacles. Okay, This is a... Read the rest of this Review

Mega Man X3

Mega Man X3 Walthrough
Yesterday I did a review of the original Mega Man X3 for SNES. In my review I stated how X3 was one of my favorite X games in the X series. Today I decided I would do a walk through of one of my favorite games.

The game starts off with the story. You can press start if you want to skip it. I cover the story more in my review.

You will be taken to the intro stage. Zero and X will meet and discuss the mission. You start off controlling X. The best way to clear out the enemies is use charge shots and take them out. Just continue to head right and then down the ladder. You will be taken to another room. Mac a former hunter will talk to X before doing a cheap shot. There is no way to avoid the shot. X will be carried away. Zero will drop in from the ceiling. Charge Zero's shots and you can use his powerful saber. Beware of the falling ceiling parts. You will then go have to climb the wall. Beware though there is an enemy at top dropping spike balls. After the enemy drops the spike ball jump to the opposite side. You will then see a door gate. Before entering I charge Zero's Saber before heading in. Its time to battle Mac. Zero's Saber cuts right through him. Now you have X back. Head out the gate and climb up (no worries about enemies here) Then its mini boss time. The best way to deal with the intro stage mini boss is used charged shots and hit the head. However, he can use his spike balls to destroy the ground and hit you. Keep using charged shots and dodge. He will go down. Now you have completed the first stage.

This is the boss order I usually do. Understand this is just me. If a boss is giving you a hard time try the next one until you find the right one.

Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers

Super Street Fighter 2 Guide
If you grew up in the 1980's and 1990's like me chances are you probably heard of Street Fighter. In the Early 1990's we got Street Fighter 2. Then Capcom released Super Street Fighter 2 the new challengers. This game is probably what most people think of when it comes to street fighter. Street Fighter 2 established the franchise. I decided I will be doing a guide of this great game.

Now, in my guide I will be doing a guide using Blanka, Sagat and E-Honda as those are the characters I mostly play as. I also will not be telling how to do moves in this game for several reasons. First, I have the controls set for me. Other people may use different buttons for their controllers. Second, if you need to you can google how to do the moves in this game. I think you can even download the manual if you need to. Also this is how I play the game what works for me, may not work for you. This is only a suggestion and guide. Anyway, here we go.

Blanka Playthrough boses are in no particular order. Blanka is one of the more fiercest fighters in the game.

Cammy- Cammy loves to kick and use her spear weapon. I have found the rolling attack to do well against Cammy. If she gets close to you, you can shock her or bite her. She will go down quickly.

Dee-Jay- He loves to throw his fireballs and kick. Use the rolling attack to keep him at a distance. If he moves close to you. You can uppercut him, shock him or bite him. You can also do an air kick against him. He will eventually go down.

T.Hawk- Hawk loves to close in on you which is actually what I like for him to do. Do not try to bite him as he will do his raging typhoon on you which does serious damage. Shocking him is the best way to earn a quick victory

Fei-Long- Don't do air kicks against him as he will knock you down. He also will grab you if you get close. Rolling attacks are the best way to knock him out. Also he can be prone to low uppercuts so use that to your advanta... Read the rest of this Guide
Mega Man Legends

Mega Man Legends Guide
Mega Man Legends was a new entry into the Mega Man franchise. This game came out in the late 1990's. I want to think 1997 or 1998 to be specific. I actually like this game, so I decided I would do a guide.

Disclaimer: This is just how I play the game. I hope you find this helpful but at the end of the day you have do what works for you. Anyway here is my guide.

First you start a new game.

You star off in a tower. Roll will tell you what to do. Take out the Reaverbots. Sometimes the Reaverbots will drop money. You will come to a door. Roll will explain how to open doors. Not enter the door just yet. Take out the Reaverbots that pop out from the wall to see if they drop money. Then you can enter the door. The room has more Reaverbots in them take them out. You will then enter a few more rooms. You come across a side door with a big box. Blast the box and it will drop money. The game tells you what to do with the money. Head back out you will see another door don't go in it just yet. Go to the left. You will see a Spider reaverbot on the ceiling Roll will tell you how to take out enemies from the top. Take it out. Then enter the door (not the one you passed) Climb up the step and take out the traps that have a force field up. You will see two treasure chests. Open one to get money. Open one to get a power blaster. The game will tell you how to equip buster parts. Now Head back to the door you passed and enter you will fight the first true boss.

This boss loves to hit you with its arm. Don't get hit as it will severely damage you. The best thing is to run around the boss firing. It will eventually go down. Then you get a cutscene.

You crash on Kattelox Island
Talk to Professor Barrel he will tell you to head for the city. Head to the trail that says town. The police will come. Go back and talk to the inspector or Barrel. He will take Barrel to get cards later on in the game. Go back to the trail and enter town. Talk... Read the rest of this Guide
Mega Man IV

Mega Man IV
Here is my guide to one of my favorite Mega Man games for the game boy. Mega Man IV and Mega Man V are my favorites for the Game Boy Series.

There is no intro stage in this game. The game starts with the plot. Dr. Light explains how the weapons work, and how p-chips can be turned into items.

This is the Order I normally go in. You can use your own boss order. If a boss or stage is giving you difficulty then try another one. What order works for me may not work for you. Anyway lets get started.

Toad Man Stage- Toad Man stage starts off with wind driven rain. Keeping going right watch out for the stream of water as it likes to sweep you off your feet. Continue to head right and clear out the enemies. Charged shots really work well. After the second drop down the one with the ladder. Fall but hang a slight left to avoid the death spikes at the bottom. There is a p-chip before the next drop down if you want it. Continue going down. YOu will then be in a room with a lot of pits. Carefully time your jumps as the wind driven rain can push you back. Also watch out for airborne enemies these can be taken out with charged shots. You will then meet one of the mini bosses of the stage a Giant Snail like robot. The eyes are the weak point. Charged shots does quick work on this boss. Be sure not to fall into the pit in the middle of the platform though. After defeating the boss slide under, jump on the platform to get the flashing B letter. Collect the letter and proceed to the right. Once again watch out for the air enemies, the stream of water and wind driven rain. Then climb up the long latter and take out the enemies. You will then enter a water tank just take out the enemies and avoid the death spikes. In the drop down hang a left to once again avoid the death spikes. Proceed left to another drop down shaft. Then you will fight the mini-boss int his stage again. This time its easier as there is no pits to worry about.

Now you are at To... Read the rest of this Guide
Mega Man X3 Zero Project v4.0

Mega Man X3 Zero Project #4 Guide
Mega Man X3 Zero Project Version #4 is a hack of Mega Man X3. The game plays similar to X3. However, this difference is you can play as Zero except for one session.

I am going to be providing a walk through of this great game.

Intro Stage

First you get the story then you have control. This type you start off as Zero. Your job is to sweep the Maverick Hunters fortress out from enemies. It is pretty straight-forward just go down ladders and take out the enemies. You will encounter a hunter named Mac. Mac explains how he is now part of Doppler's army. He stuns Zero and takes him away. X comes in and now you can control X. You will climb a wall watch out for spike balls being dropped from up above. You will enter a room. Engage Mac. A few charged buster shots takes him down. After he is defeated use a Charge Shot to take out the device holding Zero. Then you have control of Zero. Climb up another war and engage in another Maverick. A few charged shots and he goes down easy. Just watch out for the mavericks spiked ball arms.

Then you can choose among 8 stages. Whoever you want to start with is up to you. In this game there is no correct order.

Blizzard Buffalo Stage

This is often the first Stage I start with, but again who you start with is up to you. You begin the stage with ice around you. Ice physics apply here. Watch out its slippery and avoid the spikes. Jumping slows the Ice physics down. Just head right and take out the enemies. Zero's Charged Saber does wonders here. Continue going right and climb the latter. Once climbing head right and you will notice Ice Blocks. You will most likely need to revisit the stage to break the blocks in two ways. The first way is if you have found the spiked Mecha Suit head over to the platform with X on it to select it. The easier way is to use the drill weapon to smash the ice blocks.
