Worms for the Nintendo 64   IgorBird122
Time for another review by IB122, this time, it's on Worms: Armageddon. This is a very awesome game to play and this is the first Worms game introduced into the Nintendo 64, and when people think Nintendo 64, they think "3D gaming" but the system doesn't really have to rely on just 3D gaming, some can be in 2D as well. If you guys ain't familiar with the Worms series, it's a series where you battle other teams for the last team standing, so similar to those normal shooter games, but instead of humans, it's worms you're controlling and trying to defeat, also, when a lot of people think about Worms, they look back at this game (Worms: Armageddon), this game really elevated this series to newer heights.
So, enough with the intro on this game and let's get started with this review you all want to see from me.
Graphics:
For the graphics in Worms: Armageddon, is pretty alright, although some parts of the graphics are a little off though for the N64, and also the FPS is a little slower when hitting your opponent, you can especially see that when you or your opponent get's blown up and flying away from the impact, but that's pretty much it with the slow FPS (but it can just be me though), and the only disadvantage I have with this game is the N64 is mostly a 3D console and this game is more in 2D, but 2D or 3D, this game is still pretty alright graphics wise, not the best in the series, but it is still something worth of checking out if you're a big Worms fan though. But other than those issues with the graphics, I still can say in the graphic sector, I think the rest of it came out pretty great though, the environments and the battlefield both came out pretty great, low quality, but still great for the Nintendo 64.
Despite it's 2D-3D thing with the N64, I'll still give this a 7 out of 10, good, but not great.
----
The Sound/Music:
The Sound effects are pretty great in this game, personally, I believe the sound effects from the weapons the explosions, and the environment is pretty well done though and I really like the voices in this game really well as well, although some voices does sound a little cheesy, but nothing that you'll notice when playing this game though, and to my opinion, I think this is the best they got with the worms game so far to date, going from the earlier games to this game is a giant leap in the sound engine.
As for the Music in the game is just just great as well with the Sound effects to, in fact, I think a little better, with the menu music and the music in each of the levels you play, I think they sound really great for the N64 and I do have to admit that they're a few flaws with the sound and music parts, but I don't think it's that notice though.
With the Sound and Music, I would give this a 9 out of 10, I personally think they did a good job in this.
----
Addiction Level:
For this, is one of the things what I think really stands out in this game is the addiction level, personally to me, I think it's a pretty addicting game nonetheless, I've been playing Worms for majority of my life and I do got to say that this game is really addicting, despite what I said with the graphics earlier, this game can be addicting, not just for this game, but any Worms game out there and to my personal opinion, I think the Addiction Level and the Depth is what makes this series a successful series especially if you're a hardcore Worms fan like I am, and whenever I see a really good Worms game, I happen to buy it because I really love this series, as for this game in general, it is pretty addicting alone, if you're familiar to the series, I imagine a lot of people that plays the N64 that are Worm fans will be playing this game nonstop, this is what makes a game successful is on how addicted someone is with on a game.
Due to on how addicting this game and the whole series is, I give this a perfect 10 out of 10
----
Story:
Although they're not a whole lot in the Story in this game, pretty much it's mostly two teams of worms battle each other out for the territory and each of the teams all battle it out for the best worm win, although you do have a mission mode, but even in the Mission mode, they're not really that much of a story as well, but a little more in the Mission mode than anywhere else. They're nothing else I can say for this category other than the lack of a story, although it would be good to see more storyline in this game, it it's alright though.
Due to a little bit of a story (not a lot though) I give this a 5 out of 10
----
Depth:
This is mostly the main reason why I love the Worm series, it's all the depth that is put into the game and that really makes these games in this series to really blossom into the gaming world, mostly some of the things people look at when it comes to games is the depth of the game and Worms really brings Depth to a whole new level, and in Worms: Armageddon, a whole lot of new interesting features are added in that we haven't seen in other Worms game, although a lot of newer weapons added in this game from the previous Worms game, but it's not just with the weapons you can choose from, it's also the battlefield you can choose and what kind of environment you like to have in the game which gives you a nearly an infinite number of choices to have to fight your battles in, and also, you don't have to play in the single player or mulitplayer, you can also choose the mission mode as well if you feel like going though a challenge, so it's really up to you on how you want to do in this game, a whole lot to do, that's why I like the Worms series, just a whole lot of things to try out like all the weapons and tools to try out on my opponents and I have a feeling than anyone that plays this game is going to think the same exact thing as well.
Due to a whole lot of interesting things to do in this game, I give this game a perfect 10 out of 10
----
Difficulty:
For the Difficulty, it is in a way, pretty hard, but not too hard to play, it's mostly depends on how good you are in the whole series and once you get adjusted to the controls, the game is a little more easier, but still, it can be hard at times, even for pro Worm players as well, sometimes, your opponent can in a way, outsmart you and ended up defeating you, so it's all about trial and error when it mostly comes to the difficulty, so all and all, just keep practicing this game, you'll get better against your opponents and get better in the missions as well. For the difficulty level,
I would give this a 9 out of 10 because this game is indeed hard for pros, but not impossible to play.
----
Overall:
Overall, I got to say that this game, this game is pretty outstanding sound/music, and depth wise, but as for the other things like the Graphics are pretty alright. Would I recommend this game, I would say if you're a hardcore Worms fan, or even just a normal Worms fan, this would be the game I recommend, but if you're new to the series, you can check it out as well, but it'll be confusing at first with the Nintendo 64 controls, but just get use to them, it'll be really worth it. It might not be the best game in the whole series, but it is still a pretty amazing game nonetheless though, I will keep on playing this in the future whenever I get the time to play this game if I'm not distracted with other things. I also do have to say that this game in the series have made a benchmark for future games in the whole series to the most recent Worms game, which is a pretty huge benchmark because future Worm games really taken a lot of progress and they look at this game.
I would give this game a 8.7 out of 10, if this game had more stories, then it would be a little bit higher than it is, but still, a 8.7, that ain't a bad score for this game though, I think both the Addiction Level and the Depth if this game really made this game get the most rating.

Only the Worms Survive   kabenon007
Worms aren't supposed to be the subject of games. Which is exactly what makes the great subjects for games! Earthworm Jim, and the Worms series are proof of that. And why? Because we find it amusing to think of one of the simplest of creatures wielding heavy weaponry.
Worms Armageddon is the first N64 foray for the worms, and it brings all the classic Wormy gameplay to life in glorious 3D! Ok, I'm just kidding, it doesn't. Boy, I hope no one makes a game like that *wink wink* Worms belong in 2D. For those who don't know, the Worms series is about you controlling a team of five worms, one at a time, and making strategic attacks against your opponents' teams of five worms. The environments are fully destructible, as are the worms. The environment is like one big sand castle, with each armament chipping away at the landscape and the worms' health bars until only team is left standing.
Standard weapon choices abound, such as grenades, bazookas, shotguns, blowtorches, ninja ropes, etc. These are all well and good, and perfectly capable of causing lumbricine (look it up) destruction. But a game in which worms are the main characters must have just as zany weaponry. Enter things like the exploding cow, the banana bomb, and my all time favorite, the Holy Hand Grenade. Each brings a unique style of destruction to the game, and are equally fun to use as their more mundane counterparts.
Success at Worms is like an art form. To correctly judge the wind when you fire your bazooka shot, watch as it curves in toward your target and then explode in his face takes quite a bit of skill to get right consistently. But when it succeeds, and you watch your opponent's worm careen into the drink and drown, it is that much more rewarding because it is so difficult. However, this is a game in which your failures are just as entertaining as your successes. To incorrectly judge the wind when you fire your bazooka shot, watch as it curves away from your target and then explode in your own face can happen, and will happen often, as sometimes you just make a miscalculation in the power or trajectory of your shot. I just hope you are capable of laughing at yourself, because your friends certainly will be.
Which brings me to this game's problem. It simply must be played with friends. I don't mean that there is no single player way in which to play the game, because there is. What I mean is that that single player way is complete worm poo poo. Sure, you can still get your shots off the same way you would against a human opponent, but the Worms AI is at once both superhuman in awesomeness and superhuman in stupidity. I think they take it in turns. I've seen the computer controlled Worms make shots that no human could ever achieve, sending a perfectly shot bazooka through a tight cluster of scenery to explode exactly, and I mean exactly, on my worm, only in the next turn to chuck a primed grenade straight up in the air, bounce it off the ceiling straight back down onto their heads. It is baffling. I seriously do believe that they programmed them to take turns being once awesome and then next moronic. Which does not make for a fun gaming experience, because it means that you are either getting crushed by the AI, or winning because of some stupid mistake you don't feel was completely justified. So take my advice; get some friends together if you want to play this game. If you don't have any friends, make some. And then play this game.
