My experience with super metroid stardust.   GSD-JOSH
Overall I enjoyed this game.  It had its strengths and its weaknesses.  I should also mention that this review will contain spoilers.  Just be warned of that before you continue.
First I will talk about the weaknesses.  Compared to the original super metroid the game is noticeably smaller.  One boss in particular I never came across was kraid.  The areas that you have to explore typically aren't all that big either.  The sound is what you would expect from super metroid, the only issues there are sometimes when you go from one area to the other, the music doesn't always change to the appropriate music for that area, the way its supposed to.  The graphics from super metroid are also still what you would expect,  except the designer seemed to like to use a lot of palate swaps for the colors, which of course is fine if not even a little bit refreshing.  Where the graphics weren't so good, was every now and then, you would go into certain areas and or rooms where the graphics would be glitched.  The map screen doesn't always work properly either, sometimes "forgetting" rooms you have already been to.
Now I will talk about the strengths.  One thing I enjoyed about this game was that it seemed to be very non-linear, and unpredictable as to where you would end up next.  I will put it to you this way:  you cant get into lower norfair by way of upper norfair, you have to enter that place from an area that you would not at all expect.  There are  many areas of the game that are like this.  This game does a good job of making you explore and look for hidden passages-some of which you will need to be able to progress further in the game.  Some of the items in this game are really well hidden too.  If you are the type of player who likes to dig around and look for nooks and crannies and hidden passages,  then this is a game you will probably enjoy.  The other thing I like about his game is that you can get the spring ball relatively early, and a lot of the items are gotten in a very different order than what you had to do in the original title.  This game does a great job of mixing things up, as far as where you go and what you get.  I like that type of unpredictability.
In closing, I would say that this game is definitely worth playing.  If you are able to get past the games small but noticeable flaws, it will offer you ample opportunity to test your metroid exploration skills.  Where you go and what you get is noticeably different than the original, so this game will be good at keeping you guessing as to what you will have to do next, which helps to keep things fresh and exciting.  As far as special skills needed to beat the game: maybe a little bit of wall jumping, minor bomb jumping, and good exploration skills, and that's about it.  If you are new to super metroid hacks, I would say, this should probably be one of the ones you play first.  This game is playable.  This game is beatable.  I know, I've done it, and had fun while doing so.  Give it a try.
