This game is hack of Mega Man X but instead of playing as X the player gets to play as Proto Man.  I enjoy playing Mega Man games. Infact it is my favorite video game series to play. So, when I saw this hack Ijust had to play it and I’m glad that I did. In this review I will be comparingthis hack to the original game and other X series games.

Plot: 9

The story has been changed some in this game to accommodate the game featuring ProtoMan.  Several centuries have passed since the classical Mega Man series. New robots named reploids have been created to assist humans. These reploids are not just ordinary robots. The reploids can think and make decisions on their own. Dr. Cain starts creating reploids all goes well until one day the reploids turn on the humans and become mavericks.The Maverick Hunters are formed to hunt down mavericks. Sigma, who is Dr. Cain’slatest creation is the leader. Dr. Cain also finds Proto Man a champion from centuriesago. He also befriends Zero another powerful reploid that was found by Dr.Cain. Suddenly Sigma becomes a maverick and emerges as their leader taking mostof the reploids with him. Zero sets out to defeat Sigma along with Proto Man.Proto Man also finds Dr. Light capsules and learns that Dr. Light enhanced himbecause he thought the world needed a grand and old champion. Proto Man getsenhancements and sets out with Zero to defeat Sigma.

Okay whoever made this game did a real good job making the story fit according to the hack. I have seen and played a few hacks were the story was not changed and reallytook quality away from the hack. I like how they kept pretty much the regularstory from Mega Man X. The creators of this game just changed it around to fitProto Man. I really thought that was very creative. I like plots that havecreativity.  So, I give the story a very good 9 out of 10

Graphics and Controls: 8The graphics in this game are very good and nicely done. The colors in the background were not changed. Also the layouts of the stages were not changed at all. Also ProtoMan is very colorful when he charges his buster. Speaking of his buster theanimation of his powerful shots is amazing. The sprites in this game were nicely done too, which surprised me cause this is a hack.  I have played a fewhacks were the graphics were not very good. I would say the graphics rival theMega Man X3 Zero hack they are that good.

The controls in this game are pretty good for a hack. Some hacks the controls are not verygood. But the creators of this game made sure to stick to the controls thatmade the X series great. Proto Man controls well. However, as with any hack Inoticed a few minor problems. Sometimes it does seem Proto Man can appear to besluggish it is not a whole lot in the game but they are a few parts were it is noticeable.I would suspect a few minor problems due to this being a hack. Also a few timesit seems like there were a few lags in the game but there were only 2 timesthat I noticed.  Like I said the graphics and controls rival Mega Man X3 Zero project Hack. They also kept the good smooth controls of the regular X series games. I give the graphics and controls a solid 8 out of 10.

 Sound: 8The sound in this game is also amazing. Once again the makers of this hack kept the original sound to this game which is quite nice. The enemies still have their amazingsounds that lets the player know they are powerful enemies. The bosses stillhave their powerful sounds to let the player know their attacks mean business.The music in this game was left unchanged. Mega Man X had some decent music. InMega Man X the music was pretty good just not like the music in X2 or X3.Still, the music is decent and some of the tunes are memorable. The makers ofthis game have also added some new sounds to this game. Proto Man’s buster hasgotten new sounds to let the player know his shots are powerful. Proto Man’sbuster and shield remind me of the sound his buster & shield make in MegaMan Power Battle. I wonder if that is were the makers of this game got thesound from.

 Now they were a few spots I heard a tingle. If you have read of my other reviews youprobably know I hate tingles. I guess it is a sensory issue due to my Autism.It seemed like the tingles came in the fast music themed stages. However, Ionly noticed two so It is not that big of a deal. In fact, I would suspect afew tingles in a hack. The only Hack I have played that did not have too many Tingleswas X3 the Zero Project. So at the end of the day I give the sound a good 8 outof 10.

Addictiveness (Replay Value) 9I first saw this hack on the game board. I thought I have got to play this hack it lookslike it would be a cool game to play. So I clicked on it to play it and I wasnot disappointed. That was about 3 weeks ago when I started playing this game.So far I have not been able to put it down. It is just that good of a hack. Ireally like playing as Proto Man it offered something new and it was nicelydone.  I hope in the future maybe they will make a Hack were you can also play as Bass that would be awesome. So yeah this game has very high replay value. It is one of those games that you can play over and over again. I give the replay value a very solid 9 out of 10.

Depth: 9 

The Depth in this game is also very high. They are items to collect, power ups to collect,and secrets to find in this game. The makers kept the tradition of Mega Mangames having lots of depth to them. I enjoy games that have a lot of depth tothem it makes them more special. Another thing that adds depth to me is thatthey are several boss orders to play through as. I often enjoy playing the gameand starting it with a different boss. Players who enjoy games with a lot of depth will certainly enjoy thisgame. I give the depth a 9 out of 10.

Difficulty: 6If Mega Man X Proto Man Hack suffers anywhere it is in the difficulty. Now before I beginon the negatives this game can be difficult. In some stages enemies just burryyou by hitting you from behind, or popping out of nowhere.  Also some stages have lots of pits to jump over. In addition the bosses can be tough and some of the items require skillsas well as creativity to get.

Now as difficult as this can be it is not the most difficult. In fact the game triesto help you out. First of all Proto Man’s buster is very powerful which can doa lot of damage to enemies. It becomes even more powerful when you get thebuster upgraded. In the regular game Mega Man had to get the buster upgrade tomake his shots more powerful. So Proto Man’s buster being powerful lowers thedifficulty as his shots can do a lot of damage as well as take out severalenemies at once. Another thing that lowers the difficulty is Proto Man when hisbuster is charged gains a shield. The shield can take out enemies just bytouching them. This lowers the difficulty because it can help players get overpits were flying enemies like to gather. Also, the game gives you four subtanks to carry if you can find them. That really helps if your caught in atough boss fight. Players can also collect hear tanks to increase their lifebar. Unlike Mega Man X2 and X3 the heart tanks are very easy to get. There isonly 1 heart tank that I was challenged with to get and that is because itrequires skill and luck to get.

While this game has its difficult moments it is not the most difficult game or hack I haveplayed.  The difficulty is less than the original X game due to Proto Man already having a super buster. The game also is not as hard as X3 the Zero Project. The makers of this hack really try to help the players out in this game.A few of the items require skills and luck to get but it is nothing like X2, X3or X3 the zero project, in those games the items were very difficult to get.Also in those games the enemies as well as the bosses just buried you. So Igive the difficulty a 6 out of 10. It is not an easy game but at the same timenot a really difficult one. I would say this is the only part that suffers inthis game.

Overall: 9Overall I really liked this game. I think Proto Man is an underrated character though inthe past two Mega Man games he has been playable and is getting noticed. So Iwas glad to see that somebody created an X hack were you can play as Proto Man.I had so much fun playing this hack. It is very good and was nicely done. Theonly hack I have played that is better than this one is Mega Man X3 the zeroproject.

I hope that whoever made this game would make a hack were you could play as bass. I think if somebody did a quality hack of Mega Man X were you could play as Bass thatwould be awesome.  I’m glad I did a search on the Vizzed Game Board for Mega Man games cause that is how I discovered this one.  Everything a great game has this game has. The storyline was nicely done, the sound isawesome, and the graphics are nice too. The depth and replay value is also highin this game. So if you are look for a good game then look no further. As thisgame is awesome. This maybe a hack but it is a type of hack that all types ofhacks in the X series should be based on. Of course I said that about X3 theZero project. That is because these two hacks have been the best hacks I haveplayed so far

Now as awesome as this hack is, it did have a few minor issues. The controls a fewtimes felt sluggish but that was very minor. Considering this is a hack I wouldexpect the controls to be sluggish. Also they are a few minor lags in this gamebut again those are very minor. The only real major problem I have with thisgame was the difficulty. I was hoping the difficulty would be up there withother X games. I enjoy difficult games that challenge your skill, creativityand that one needs a little luck to master. The difficulty was toned down in this game even toned down from the original.

Still this is a very good hack and was nicely done. As far as recommending this game. Yes I would recommend this game. If you are looking for a fun hack to play of agreat game series then this hack is for you. To me as I have stated it is closeto being in the same league as X3 Zero Project. I give the overall rating ofProto Man X Hack a good 9 out of 10. It is that good of a hack. I hope you taketime to enjoy this great hack.

This is a really good graphic  hack of megaman X were you can play as protoman who apparently is way stronger then X but anyways the game play is the same as megaman x except you fire charged buster shots rapidly and when you charge it up you get a force field from armored armadillo. In all other aspects this game is the same as megaman X but I'm sure it was not easy to make protoman  the main sprite so props, and good job for alpha design cant wait to see a update with new enemy sprites and level design graphics; the original game had some of the best and my favorite for the snes so the same applies to this game, and the protoman sprite is extremely well done and all animations all well done and without glitches sound; this hack uses the same songs and sounds as the original and in my opinion has the best song list on the entire snes I could listen to all of the tracks on my mp3 player any timeaddictiveness; this game is the most addictive out of the whole X series being so well put together and challenging you want to stop at nothing to defeat sigma and finding all the power ups, and learning what powers work on what boss this hack brings back all of that with faster game play story; the story is short but sweet you trying to put a stop to the evil mavericks and there leader sigma and bring peace to the once magnificent and futuristic city with your fellow hunter zero, this hack only has slight text changes from the original witch don't effect the story depth; this game like the original has a lot to offer with finding health upgrades, sub tanks, armor, and finding out what every enemy's weakness is there is also a easter egg  that gives you a strong power and a funny reference from street fighter    difficulty; this game can get hard but once you figure out what powers to use you can become a master at this game as for the hack its a little easier getting though the levels but the boss fights are a little harder because protoman takes more damage then Xcontrols; are nice before you start the game you can go to options to change the button layout to what ever you want like most snes games overall this hack is well done for being in alpha and has a lot of potential and if your a fan of the original this hack will bring a lot of memories back but don't expect a lot of change

 I had seen character model hack's but this whoever made this has to be a pro at this kinda stuff. now let's get this started.                                    the graphics are amazing he made megamanx look just like protoman and it does fell like you are playing as protoman and the armor piece's don't show up on protoman. many people may not like this but i do it just wouldn't fell right i like protoman as protoman giving him armor just feel really weird because protoman had never been in armor before.the sound is amazing the music is the best in the x series in my opinion.    i can't stop playing this hack. i would play megamanx  alot on my megamanx collection but with this i don't know any megaman fan who would want to give this a try. it still has the secret's like megamanx but with the cool move's protoman get's it make's him fell like you are protoman and not megamanx. the story is better then the classic series but the first megamanx game didn't have as much story as the later game's.         the game has few secret's the armor piece's and the heart piece's and a secret that i won't spoil but i'll give you a hint it's from street fighter.        well the difficulty can be little hard but not much you'll think oh it's gonna be a piece of cake but i'll tell you this it can be but you have a smaller   healthbar it make's it slighty harder but if you play it alot then it should be a breeze.  overall i give this 9.7 out of 10.

I'm not a big fan of game hacks,but this one is one of the greatest hacks I've ever seen. Protoman makes the game very easy which is not a good thing (unless you need the game to be easier) neither is it a bad thing. This must have been hard to make. I wish I could find more hacks like this one. I loved everything except for the story was a bit short and didn't have much to it,but the original game has the same story. Basically what I am saying is I love the hack and it's a great hack!

This is an alpha version of a Mega Man X hack in development. Development plans include new dialogue, a new Weapon-Get screen, remade stages, new enemies, a new Ending, and even new values for in the game itself.

Alpha Features:

- All of X's graphic tiles have been changed with sprites of Protoman.
- Buster shots are changed to Level 2 Charge shots.
- Level 1 charge is changed to Level 3 Charge shots.
- Level 2 charge is changed to the Charged Rolling Shield weapon.
- Level 3 charge is changed to the Charged Chameleon Sting weapon.
- A small life bar.
- Some new dialogue.
- New weapon colors.
