Mega Man X3 Zero Take III   tornadocam
Mega Man X3 is one of my favorite games in the X series. In addition, to being one of my favorites in the X series it was also a huge hit for the Super Nintendo. Mega Man X3 is often ranked in the top 100 of greatest Super Nintendo games of all time. X3 drew a lot of praise because one could play as zero even if it was limited. Zero is also my favorite Character from the X series. I will be reviewing Mega Man X3 Zero Hack version 3. I will be comparing this game to the original game as well as Zero Project Version I.
Story: 10

Years have passed since the events of Mega Man X2. All of the mavericks where neutralized thanks to Dr. Doppler. Doppler seems to have created a vaccine. Reploids and humans found Doppler Town and appear to enter a golden age. Things are going smoothly and there have been no maverick or maverick virus outbreaks. All seems like it is the perfect utopia. However, suddenly mavericks start appearing. The Mavericks who where supposed to be neutralized start going crazy. It seems that even Dr. Doppler has gone crazy and is behind the latest outbreak. Rumors start about a deadly virus that makes reploids go crazy. Mega Man and Zero set out to bring Doppler in and stop the revolt. However, could the rumors be true of a deadly new maverick virus? Has Doppler really gone mad or is somebody pulling strings. Zero and X head out to stop the carnage and get answers.

Okay I really liked the plot in this game. In fact it is the original story from the original game. X3 had one of the best plots in all of the X series. What is there not to love? There is creativity, suspense, mystery and a plot twist at the very end of the game. I really like plots like that. So therefore I stand by my original rating of 10 out of 10.

Graphics and Controls: 10

The original X3 game had some of the best graphics. Zero Hack Version I used the game graphics. This version uses the same graphics. I really like the stages in this game. The blizzard stage, airport stage, and jungle stages are my favorites in this game. I really like how the stars twinkle in the background of the Blizzard Stage. The sunset in the Jungle Stage gives it the perfect tropical feel to it. The colors go very well with the stages. Also Zero's sprites are much improved from Version I. The stage layouts are left unchanged from the original game.

The controls have been improved from version I and are more on par with the original game. Zero moves a lot better in this game than he did in version I. In the first version Zero could be a little sluggish at times. It seemed like the controls in version I would slow down and then speed up. That has been corrected in this game. Zero controls are smooth just like X was in the original game. I give the graphics and controls a 10 out of 10. It does not get much better than this.

Sound: 10

Mega Man games both Classical and the X series are known for their music. In the X series X3 along with X2 had the best soundtracks of any X game. I really liked the music in X3. The good news is this hack of X3 uses the same sound as the original game. There is not a sound in this game I do not like. The music, enemy shots and the Z-Saber are amazing in this game. I will start off with the music. The Music is golden in this game. Every stage theme is very good. I often pause the game so I can listen to the music. I also make sure I do not rush through a stage so I can hear the amazing tunes. I found some of the tunes to be so relaxing and others get you fired up to their fast pace. Enemy shots and sounds are also amazing. They let you know their attacks mean business. Zero's hum while charging his Z-Saber is amazing it lets the player know his shots are powerful.  Overall, just like the original game and Version I I give the sound an amazing 10 out of 10.

Replay Value: 10

Did I mention how the original game was one of my favorite games? Did I also mention that Zero is my favorite character in the X series?  This is an all in one package. Except for the intro stage you can play as Zero, which is the main point in this game. This hack has all the charm the original X3 had. The original game I played over and over again. Since I get to play as Zero in this game I have played it over and over again. I will also continue to do so. What is there not to love in this game: getting to play as zero (even if you die), the amazing plot, amazing sound, amazing graphics, and depth. Everything a great game has this game has. In the original game you could play as Zero but it was limited. If you died with Zero in the original game he would go for repairs and be out for the game. As I stated in this game even if you die with Zero you can still use him. Therefore, I give the replay value a 10 out of 10. Of all the hacks I have played this one is the best.

Depth: 10

X games are known for their depth a tradition that goes all the way back to the classical series. X3 had a lot of depth to it. That depth has been unchanged in this game. They are a lot of secret passages in this game. In fact, one will have to visit the stages more than twice to get all the items. A lot of the items can only be gotten with special weapons. In addition, the stages are long and take a while to beat. Secret power ups exists in each stage. All of the stages have at least 3 power ups to find in them. Some have a lot more than that. The game also takes several hours to beat. Also there are secret battles that can be unlocked too. Of all the X games I can only think of two X games that have this amount of depth to it X8 and X6. To me this is another reason what makes this version special.

Difficulty: 9

Mega Man X3 the original version was difficult but not too difficult. I would say the original version had a 7 in terms of difficulty. Zero Project I was a little bit more difficult mainly due to a few bugs. I would say the first version had a difficulty rating of 8 out of 10. So how does Zero Project 3 compare? Well this version is a step up in difficulty for sure.  This game is difficult for reasons I will explain.

The first reason Version 3 is more difficult is the enemies. Enemies will gang up on you in this game if you are not careful. Also the enemies are very quick to re-spawn so watch out for that. Another reason the enemies are more difficult in this game is their speed has been increased. Enemies move faster than they did in the original game  and Version I. Some of the enemies have new attacks some can jump in this game. Whereas in the previous two games they could not. Moreover, Enemy shots do a lot more damage in this game. In the original game and Version one an enemy shot would take 4 unites of health off. In this version they take 5 or 6 unites of health off.

Bosses are another reason this game is difficult. The bosses speed have also been increased. Also the bosses have more combos that can do a lot more damage than they did in the previous 2 games (Original version and Version I ). Some of the bosses attacks are brutal. The amounts of spikes and pits have not changed in this game.

So you may be wondering if the enemies and bosses are tough in this game why did I not give it a 10 out of 10? Well, there are a few reasons for that. The first being you can increase Zero's life bars if you find the heart units in this game. You first start off with 16 units of health. If you find all of the heart units you can double your health unit to 32. Also, you can get power ups that can enhance your power. Energy tanks are available in this game there are 4 of them to find. Moreover, Zero has always been portrayed as a very powerful reploid. His shots are powerful and with the enhancements they become even more powerful. It makes me wonder if the maker of this game made the bosses more difficult to accommodate Zero's great power?

Still, even though the game gives you ways to increase Zero's power and items to collect. This game is still difficult. But it is the right type of difficulty. It requires good timing, problem solving skills, creativity, and sometimes luck to master. I like games that offer that type of difficulty. I give the difficulty a solid 9 out of 10. The first few times one plays through this game it is difficult but after that it becomes easier. However, there is a good change your going to die a few times in this game.

Overall: 9.6

As I mentioned X3 was my favorite game. I remember saving my money to buy X3 when it came out. Years later when I learned that there was a Zero hack of this game where you could play as zero for the remainder of the game. I started to play that game as soon as possible. Last month I saw a new Zero version was now available to play on this site. I had to play it. I liked the game so much I have played it several times. This game hardly has any negatives it is a great game to play and has a lot going for it.

I really like how the story, and graphics were not changed that much. The sound in this game is amazing and the depth is the same. I have already explained why those areas are great in this game. I want to focus mainly on the difference between the first Zero version and this one. Zero Project Version 3 fixed a lot of bugs the first project had.

In the first project Zero's controls was good but had a few issues. Zero seemed like he would either speed up or slow down. Also in the first project Zero Z-Saber would take a while to fully charge. That has been fixed in this game. The controls were improved that they are just like the original game. Zero's Z-saber charges faster and is about the same rate as X fully charging his X Buster. To me that is what makes this game so much better to play than the first version.

Another main difference in this game is Zero can use some of the enhancements meant for X. A good example is the Dash Boots. In the first Zero project game Zero could not dash up with them. In this version he can. Zero can also charge special weapons in this version. Dr. Lights dialogue has been changed  to fit Zero in this game. Dr. Light actually holds conversations with Zero in this game. In the first Zero Project. He would normally say " Please pass this chip or info other to X". Now he instructs Zero how to use the enhancements.

The difficulty has been increased more to fit zero and I find that to be okay. As I stated under the difficulty section it fits playing as Zero more. While the game is more difficult than others. It is not a difficulty that will make you throw your controller. Yeah, we all have played games that made us want to do that.

Overall, I give Zero Project 3 a very very good score of 9.6. Everything a great game has this game has. I would even argue and say this version may just be a hare better than the original X3 game. Getting to play as Zero full time except for the intro stage is a huge plus. Having the game more fitting for a Zero play through is so much better. It was like the maker realized he or she made a few errors in the first version and fixed them. The First version you could play as Zero throughout the game. But the main negative of Version I was that it seemed to still be suited for X to play through. So I was glad to see this more like a Zero game.

Would I recommend this game? Yes I would recommend this game. You will be blown away by playing this game. I would recommend that if you are new to X or Zero games that you play the original Mega Man X3. That will get new players more suited for the controls. It is also a good comparison game. This is a game I highly recommend. It is also one you won't be able to put down. Well this concludes my review of Zero Project Version III. I hope you take time to enjoy this great hack and game. I also hope you enjoy it like I did.

Blessings in Christ and happy gaming

Better Hack than V1   marioplayer657
Hello Everyone! This is my 3rd review today and for my account and today, I will do a review on Megaman X3: Zero Project V3, a Megaman X3 hack that allows you to play as Zero, lets get started shall we?
Graphics: I don't know about this one but, the graphics are about the same as Megaman X3, but the only change is Zero, but, I love the new "Z" icon in the stage select, when you see the "X", Press enter and it will change to "Z", meaning that you play as Zero, I have also found a bug when X has the Z saber, you still play as Zero when you change the icon, now that's settled, we are going back to graphics. Zero has updated sprites, back in V1, when you use Triad Thunder, Zero has a sprite copy of Megaman X2, but in V3, Zero's sprite has changed it to a Megaman X4, 5 and 6 styled sprite, making it look more interesting and when you beat a boss or finish getting a upgrade on the capsule, you also get a copy of Zero's saber attack in V1, but in V3, you get a more interesting sprite of Megaman X4 and X5 style of Zero when you finish a boss or getting a upgrade, for the result, I will give the graphics an eight.
Sound: I have no rating on the sound because they have the same sounds as Megaman X3.
Addictiveness: I have also given this an eight, because, the way how the creator made some additions and changes to the gameplay, just made it more fun to play, play as Zero even if X has the Z Saber, Zero has changed his sprites and I'm not 100% sure if Zero now has energy recover like X when he has black armor and the best thing I like is... that when Zero has a leg upgrade, he can double jump instead of dashing horizontally in V1 and the original game, that's the only thing that's making me addict to.
Depth: Just like the V1 and the original, but since the double jump feature for Zero was added, this may take less time to play the whole game, but still It has the same depth of Megaman X3, I give this one a six.
Difficulty: Again, these new features made the game easier as well, but there is another feature, X's Charged shots makes his combined shots, making the smaller shots increasing the Y axis VERY high, making the smaller shots fly off the screen, and for Zero's Saber, the creator has made the Z Saber speed up, making Zero, much easier to dodge the enemies attacks on time. Back in V1, X's small shots fire horizontally, causing him to miss enemies in the air and for Zero, he has slow time and when you realise that you have low energy and cannot avoid the attack in time. You are pretty much screwed, I rate this a six.
Overall: This game is pretty much better than the other projects in Megaman X3, If game creators have created Megaman X4 in SNES as a pirate or a hack, I might play it, but I must find the exact gameplay as the Megaman X on SNES series, but anyway, I enjoyed that game and this review will end here and I will give this overall a seven. Thank you for reading this review, I might do another one, another time. Peace!

Mega Man X3 - Zero Project (Ver. 3.0) Game Description

A modification of Mega Man X3 that modifies and edits many aspects of the game to allow Zero to be fully playable.

Features:

• Play as Zero anytime except areas where he’s unavailable such as the introduction stage.
• Zero is able to use sub-weapons.
• Zero is able to air dash.
• Z-Saber damage varies depending on boss strength. (Based on speed/power combined)
• Zero is able to gather Heart Tanks, Energy Tanks and Ride Armor chips. He’s able to fill sub-weapons and Energy Tanks while also able to use them.
• Zero can use Ride Armors.
• Revised dialogue to reflect both characters being playable.
• Zero can obtain capsules and use their abilities to an extent.
• Zero has new animations for charged Triad Thunder, Ray Shot & Gravity Well.
• X and Zero are swapped during events. If you’re Zero, X will appear, vice versa.
• X and Zero have completely separate dialogue.
• The game remembers who you played as last after you’ve beaten a level or died.
• Mega Man X2 Feature in which you can shoot both buster shots at once and both will deal damage instead of the large wait time.

Fixes:

[Version 2.1]

1. Air Dash failing when holding up.
2. Zero's invincibility bug.
3. Fixed dialogue with Dr. Light talking about force field generating on Armor. (No longer does that)
4. Fixed various dialogue for Zero with Dr. Light so it doesn't say he WILL be able to do this, rather, he MAY be able to.
5. Tweaked dialogue for when you get Z-Saber.

[Version 2.2]

1. Fixed a capsule bug in which X's armor didn't show up.
2. Fixed a capsule bug for X in which the game would freeze at the X-Buster capsule in Neon Tiger's stage.
3. Fixed a capsule bug for Zero in which getting the double jump upgrade would freeze the game after Zero attempted it.
4. Fixed a couple dialogue errors.

[Version 3.0 (Base Mod Project)]

1. Everything was from the redone ground up. Far less bugs, better coding, more features.
2. Zero's new animations have been heavily altered.
3. Triad Thunder has been heavily updated animation-wise for both characters. It's a lot quicker and has more of an impact.
