I remember back when I was like 7 or something, My little sister kept talking to me about how great that cartoon on Disney channel Kim possible was, She was then super excited when she got the Kim possible game for Game boy advance, She also told me about how fun the game is, And to be honest, I went to see. For those of you who do not know who Kim possible is, I'll tell you, She is a red haired chick who fights evil, there you go. So will this game be a hit or a miss? Let's see....
Story-7/10
The game takes you through 4 distinct episodes each with It's own villain and story to it, For example, In the first episode of the game, Our hero Kim possible must stop some dude named Falsetto Jones from stealing a huge diamond from a museum, Or in the second episode, Kim must stop an Irish Scotsman named Duff Gilligan from stealing a weather machine. I say, the way the story is set up is excellent. Great job Disney!
Gameplay-8/10
In this game, You will control Kim possible through 16 big levels, Stopping drakken's henchman and doing everything else. Kim has a big amount of weapons and gadgets at her disposal, Such as the glue bomb which will explode on impact and melt on Snowman, The lipstick trampoline which can be used on holes in order to let Kim reach higher distances, and a whole lot of more. The controls are pretty Simple for a Game boy advance game, A is jump, B is attack, L is weapon select, And R is to use your weapon. The enemies are your typical stuff, Henchman, Robots, etc. Each level has a big amount of collectibles, such as coins which will add to your score (Which I will explain later) KP logos will give you an extra life, And character cards which will give you info about the show's characters. Okay on to the scoring system, Each time you collect coins or defeat enemies, Your score will increase, Once you get to 1000 points, You will be rewarded an extra life. Yet It is way easier to collect the KP logos. So that is it for the gameplay....
Graphics-7/10
This game was released in 2004, And I will be honest, It looks really good! Way better then the least Kim possible game I reviewed that is...All the locales and levels you will be exploring are Big, Beautiful, And Bursting with color, which is a huge plus when It comes to cartoony games like this. The HUD is pretty self explanitory as well, the top left hand corner of the screen shows your current amount of health and how man lives you have left until you get a game over, Same with all the characters you will be meeting, They are easily recognizable, Mostly Kim herself. Amazing job Disney! You never fail to impress me!
Sound-7/10
The sound in this game is pretty good! I mean It is your typical Kim possible stuff, But Is that really a bad thing? Of course not. All the tracks are pretty catchy on their own, But one flaw, They can get pretty repetitive after a while, Especially that song that plays on the airship level in Episode 2! It plays in almost every level in the game afterwards! As for the sound effects, They are OK, They are nothing to write home about, But they are OK, There is a sound effect for when you punch an enemy, when you collect a coin, When you get an extra life, etc. It's not that bad...
Addictiveness-7/10
I am not going to lie, this game is actually pretty fun! I'm not going to say that It bored to me to death, It actually keep me pretty busy for a while!
Is this a game that I am going to shelf? Of course not, Why would I do that? There is no reason to shelf an absolutely fun kids title! It is just plain cruel man.
Depth-7/10
This game has a ton of stuff to do and collect, And here it is, There are A bunch of KP cards hidden in each level which will give you information about all the characters from the show, And also, The game is about 15 levels long, So It should take you about 1-2 hours to beat at least. This is pretty long for a Disney title!
Difficulty-8/10
One of the game's high points the difficulty, Sure Kim's game is pretty good, But there's one major problem, It can get flipping hard! A prime example are the boss fights! I at least wasted 2 lives on the final drakken fight...wow Disney, You expect us to beat the bosses without losing at least 1 or 2 lives? No no no no....But other then that, The rest of the game is pretty much a calkwalk after that.
Overall-7.8/10
So afterall, If you are looking for a good licensed game to play on the Game boy advance, I highly suggest this one! It is fun, long, and challenging enough to keep you coming back for more! I gave this game a 7.8 because How much Fun It is and all the content It offers you, So If I were you, I would totally buy this game! You can find it for pretty cheap these days as well, for probably 1 dollar, So this has been my review on Kim possible 2: Drakken's demise, Buy this incredible action platformer ASAP! I highly recommend it...
