Castle of Deceit. This game is not very well made. There are many things that I could pick out about the game, but I'll just stick with the main things. Here we go.
The graphics: I can definitely say that the graphics were good for their time. Although the main character only had two frames of animation when you used the weapon and walked, I noticed that some enemies had more than two, and it looked better than I would expect. For example, the floating hats (?) had very fluid animations, but other than that, there was nothing to see for animation. The background of the game is nothing much to see. All it is is basically just brick walls and an occasional waterfall. I give these graphics a 5 out of 10.
The sound: This games soundtrack (from what I can tell) stays the same throughout most of the game. The song that plays in the background is catchy. At least for the first few minutes. Apparently, the music changes at a boss level, but right after switches back to the same song that was playing before. After, the music just gets repetitive and obnoxious. I give the sound a 4.
The addictiveness: This game is not addictive. I can definitely say, I will not be playing Castle of Deceit again. The game throws you into the story and expects you to live, basically. I give the addictiveness a 1.
The story: In this game, there is a story, but it is not a good one. The story goes like this: "Only you can avert the doom that looms over your world. You must recover the mystic runes of guarding and reset the wards of protection within the mysterious castle atop Mt. Althus. Begin now." That is literally all they tell you about the story. When I played this game, in the first 15 seconds of the game, I already had questions about the story. Questions about the story can be good, but not when there are a ton when you start the game. I give the story a 1.
The depth: The game takes a very long time to beat if you just started playing the game. Similar to other games, but more annoying. Even if you have played the game, there is still too much that you need to do and it often ends in you dying. I give the depth a 7.
The difficulty: This game is WAY too hard. There are many things that make the game more difficult, but I'll just go with the basics. First, the controls. The controls are not good. Throughout the entire sidescroller portion of the game, you have an effect that makes you slide across the ground as if you were on ice. This often causes you to hit an enemy and die or fall into a pit of water and die. This can really get on a players nerves and cause them to stop playing. Also, jumping is extremely hard to control. When you jump, it sends you flying forward so you often miss where you are trying to jump to. Also, if you try to switch directions in midair, sometimes, it propels you in the direction you switched to, again causing you to miss. This is really annoying and makes the game more difficult. Next, the enemies. The enemies are really annoying. There are enemies you can't hit, enemies that avoid your attacks, and enemies that move all over the place, again avoiding your attacks. To successfully kill the enemies, you normally have to time your attack just at the right moment or you miss. This is really unnecessarily  odious and could have been not included. Also, your weapon is basic and is extremely weak and whenever you lose all of your lives, you start the game all over. Challenge in a game is good, but not when it becomes too challenging. I give the difficulty a 10.
My overall review of the game is a 3.2. The graphics are decent. The sound is repetitive and simple. The game is not addictive. There is a simplistic story with little detail. The player has too put much more effort into the game to play it then necessary. The game is extremely difficult with too many enemies and bad controls. I would not recommend this game to play.
