Terminator 2 Judgment day is a one player side scroller for the Super-Nintendo and it is a game made by the company 'Ljn" a company well known for making the most complicated ,most difficult games ever to be created for any home console back in the day so my review about this game wont be full of rainbows and cup cakes.Ljn has made one of the hardest games such as "Wolverine" for Nintendo " X-men" for nintendo "Who framed Roger Rabbit " for nintendo "Spider-man the animated series" for the super-nintendo "the karate kid" for nintendo,list goes on and on,except for "Maximum Carnage" which was a decent game made by that company ,but moving on with terminator,this is a video game based on the terminator 2 film that was released in the year 1992 starting off with an intro of the terminator himself getting into the bar,and you will just hear a massive riot going on ,then the Arnold Schwarzenegger model coming out with motorcycle clothes and shades .Funny that you have to go back in there and get your weapons ,did he forget it? you could not just make him leave ,but anywho, for a movie that was pretty successful, it did not make much of the terminator fans happy with the outcome of this game with frustrating controls,no continues ,you lose your life that has numbers (not a life bar) that goes 100 going down to 0 ,and that's it.You will be sent back to the beginning of the game even if you're almost finishing the game which i find very impossible without game genie codes.
How hard the game is:
This game does not forgive one mistake.You have to be almost perfect in every level ,but will start with full life at the beginning of each level .At times you can find some life items but still does not feel like it's enough.You will start at "The Corral" bar just like in the movie with no guns,your moves are just two buttons,a punch attack and a knee strike until you take out one of the bar men and get a pistol.Also in the corral, there is another man who holds a rifle .You must leave the first stage with two weapons.(Rifle wastes ammunition) . There are also street levels that are over-head view levels after you have completed the levels on foot like the bar ,connors house and the mall where you must ride the motorcycle and then later on vehicles such as a police car ,then eventually a truck in order to reach your next destination .The controls are beyond confusing if you're playing for the first time .It's almost against the rules of how you're supposed to drive a motorcycle or a vehicle in real life,but if you manage to learn the complicated controls ,be careful either way because there are motorcycles,trucks and sometimes copcars attempting to stop you from reaching your destination which can be a terrible thing if you're stuck trying to learn how to figure out the controls as they keep crashing into you repeatedly.And also get used to hearing the same bgm music because every stage has the same repetitive music playing .The only time you will hear different music is in the last level at the metal works ,and you know whats waiting for you down there? countless skeleton terminators besides the T-1000,remember that in the move? because i for sure don't.The terminator model looks pretty much like "Arnold Schwarzenegger" but lacks a lot of good animations ,for example ,you walk stiff and slow .In the movies he was able to run when he needed to in certain situations,but then, there is a strange way you kind of can make him run and that's pressing jump and forward at the same time ,but he wont actually run though ,he will hop on one leg as if his other leg is frozen or something and looks odd because you're scratching your head and wondering what that is .But anywho,you're given a pistol that never runs out of ammunition but is weak against the "T-1000" the villain terminator.
Progress:
You will be given different weapons throughout the game as you progress if you have not already turned the game off, you will find different guns especially in the ammunition store when you're at the mall level ,and also the most powerful gun you can find at the underground level.But all the special guns run out of ammo ,only the pistol is permanent .As you get to the mall level,things start to get a lot complicated (Third level) and that's because you'll find John Connor and will have to watch over him protecting him having to go back to the beginning of the level (get back to the mall entrance where you started and guide him back out without getting him killed )
As the game gets even more complicated:
To make things more hectic T-1000 is constantly reaching up to you,and you'll have to keep shaking him off shooting him away ,(No damage to him though,doesn't die) also if you want to avoid total chaos all over the place ,avoid hitting anyone that isn't the T-1000 (civilians and security)because then everything will be chaotic.Afterwards the forth level is at the mental institution where you'll find Sarah Connor and will have to do the same thing you did with John Connor at the mall level,protecting her ,only difference is she has a pistol and kind of takes care of herself ,but still will get hit ,you must take out all the attackers as fast as you can to avoid both their life energy from draining out.Note :When meeting up with John Connor and sarah afterwards,you will have to press start and choose them to follow you (Yes) and (No) .One part that is not that much fun is every level has like four or five "Future Objects"on each level ,a red and white crate with a flashing light on the top,you'll have to collect ALL of them before you can move any further,and the level WONT be complete .
Closing up with the review:
Terminator 2 judgment Day for the super nintendo follows the movie plot very well but fails in being that much of a fun game as the movie was .This game could have been good,but felt rushed and did not reach up to the expectations of the fans.This game is on the top ten list of one of the most complicated fustrating super-nintendo side scrolling games ever made for the super-nintendo .Overall:5.9
