Once again I wrote a poem for my creative writing class. It was originally going to be a funny poem but thoughts popping up in my head changed everything. I hope this post doesn't include a layout, but I couldn't check on my profile for some reason so if it does, I'm sorry.
Once there was a dude named Dude
Dude was always hungry; the dude highly valued his food
Dude didn’t do donut; the dude bought big bags of brussel sprout
Dude crunched chips loudly; the dude quickly ran out
There was a dude named Dude
Dude wasn’t very nice; the dude was rude
Dude bullied and cursed; the dude was the worst
When Dude was in a mood, the dude just burst
But it wasn’t Dude who made himself this way
It was Dude’s classmates who led Dude astray
Because, you see, they had been bullies too
Making fun of everything Dude would do
If Dude raised his hand, they would chuckle
If Dude told them to stop, they’d whip him with a belt buckle
If Dude refused to join them, they’d stuff him into a locker
If Dude dared to talk to a girl, they’d go up and mock her
Now all Dude has is his Mom and Dad
Because everyone Dude met, including himself, turned bad
Even though Dude’s now a bully at school
Dude and his parents are still cool
But wait, that’s Dude walking up to me, oh my!
He looks like he’s about to cry
“You seem nice, can you help me?” he asks
“Dude! Yes I can. It’s OK if it’s a bunch of hard tasks.”
So what we talked about next changed our lives for the better
He got to know me a little more so I could be his mentor
My name is Samuel and I can gladly say
He completely stopped his bullying that day
Just because I was myself, Dude trusted me with all
Just because I was myself, I saved him from his fall
Before meeting him, I was struggling a lot too
I had no true friends either, I felt a little blue
But my past was different from his most of the time
When I was sad or angry, I hid my emotions deep inside
I gave away things I had so others could notice me
However, I was quiet, short, and hard for others to see
It’s beautiful when two worlds collide
And someone joins me on this rough ride
It’s like lifting a ton off my shoulder
Which was not an effective boulder holder
It’s currently a month later
I got a party invitation from Dude on paper
He invited all the new, true blue friends we just made
I can’t wait to see more that will make our past fade
