First off, before I get into this conversation I'll link a few other threads below just for additional information:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=74383 IB22's thread on Game Reviews during the TDV. If your trying to go for a Yellow, Green, or Red Jersey in the TDV. Give this thread a read as it has some basic Do and Don'ts on the Game Reviews that'll come in handy.
Wordiness at best: What is the Yellow Jersey all about? The Yellow Jersey is meant to count how much words you put in each individual post. When it says" Most words so far today" It's literally adding up all the total of word count from all of your post from today.
What you shouldn't do for the Yellow Jersey:
Despite the fact that the Yellow Jersey tally ups all of your word count from all of your post, this still doesn't stop users from trying to cheat the competition; so here are some basic know hows on the yellow jersey.
1.
Don't Pile up multiple reviews/walkthroughs at once. This has recently occurred by a former user on this site(Not listing his name, if you wanna see what I mean; the smelly, old trash can is there for you
)
To say the least, It's not allowed at all, infact: most moderators will see this as spam.
If you do multiple reviews, that's fine. But For the sake of competition, make them individual game reviews. All threads that are made should also be done in the Game Review forum on the RGR or VGR page. I've noticed some users have targeted the Video game forum for doing game reviews, which is wrong.
2.
What are you getting at: Keeping the thread on topic.
Another form of cheating the Yellow Jersey comes here. Some users will straight up make stuff up that isn't even needed to the conversation. Again like the reviewing section, Moderators will see it as spam if you try to add multiple topics that aren't cannon to what your thread is intended to. Not to mention, It makes it hard for the reader to get the main idea and reply to the thread without being confused.
TL;DR Keep the Irrelevant stuff out if you want to stay out of trouble.
3. Don't make a thread simply for word count.
Yes, some members have done this too and it's not allowed either.
4. Plagiarism (Stealing content without permission and claiming as your own) Gets you bans, not jerseys. This is the most common thing that occurs within the Tour De Vizzed. There always seem to be some kind of newbie or normal member that pops up around this time and all they do is try to copy paste multiple and Original Reviews from other sites.
Moderators and Good Members are keen to finding out plagiarism, especially during the TDV sessions. So simply put: don't do this, not unless you like being banned.
If you Need Information, borrow a small portion of it and be sure to give the Author/site Credit. Generally, the rest of your post should be always original content.
I'll
update this thread when needed, but these are the common things you should try to avoid doing when going for the Yellow Jersey during the TDV.
