These are updates that I made over a week ago for the Video Game Music Room but I'm finally getting around to posting about them. I've made a bunch of updates that will users find music more easily and have also made the pages easier to use.

All Available Systems on Index Page
The VGMR index page now shows all of the systems that have game soundtracks available. It also shows a lot of other great information such as the number of available game soundtracks, total songs available, overall total duration of all songs for each system, and average song rating for each system.

Games Show More Info on System Pages
When you go to a system's page in the VGMR, the list of games with music available is now more organized and has more information. The new information includes total songs, total duration and average rating. Here are some examples:
Nintendo NES
Super Nintendo
PlayStation

Game Pages, Playlists and Search Results Updated
The pages that show the available songs are far more organized now. Before there was a messy list of all the songs available below the playlist, now there's a neatly organized list. This list basically shows the same info in the actual playlist at the top of the page but some might find it easier to use. Also, clicking the number to the very left will play that selected song without you having to leave the page (again, for those who prefer to go through the songs that way). Here are some examples:
Final Fantasy VII
Halo 3
'Battle' Keyword Filter

Vertical 120x600 Ad Removed
The ad that appeared to the right of the playlists (when there was 20 or more songs in a playlist) has been removed. The ad paid terribly and it just didn't seem worth having it there, especially considering how "in your face" it was. I'll probably eventually add a new ad to the pages at some point.

All Systems Available When Searching for a or by a System
The drop down that lets you choose a system to show songs for now shows all systems that have soundtracks available. Previously it only showed systems that had a lot of soundtracks available. Likewise, drop system drop down in the song search area also shows all available systems.

Other Miscellaneous Stuff
I did a bunch of other things, some not worth mentioning and others I probably forgot. Some things that I did do that are worth mentioning include:
-Finally gave the Video Game Music Room its own banner
-Better SEO for the pages
-Gave the Featured Playlists its own drop down

I plan to eventually add more search features such as the ability to search for music based on game genre (rpg, fighting, etc), system era, bits (8-bit, 16-bit, etc), media type (cartridge, cd, etc), system type (console system, computer system, etc), year released, developer, publisher and more.

I have a question myself but I wasn't sure if I should bother you (or have already bothered you) about it.

We can still request soundtracks, but can they still upload them now, or are we still waiting? I was wondering because I wanted a few uploaded so I could add them to a playlist and rate them as well

yoshirulez! : I haven't updated my script to upload songs to the new server yet. The only person who is currently capable of uploading music is me since I have access to manually upload the songs. Hopefully within a week I'll get around to uploading the soundtracks that users have requested in the scary music competition. If you have any that you want me to upload for that, be sure to let me know in that thread (and you can help speed up the process by providing a link to where the soundtrack can be obtained).

So its been a long time since I stepped into that room ,and its a lot more different than it was before. I was overwhelmed in a why since I needed to see what I needed to do. It didn't take a while until I figured how to use the room well, goes to show when you haven't stepped into some place in a long time, that you would be surprised....

I haven't checked this out yet but may do so in the future. I am getting an urge to remake the Pokémon soundtracks in a New wave/Synthpop/Post punk sound and see how it turns out. If this does happen, expect Lavander town to sound a bit like Joe Jackson's Steppin out.

Pokemonfan1000 :

You can only listen to and make playlists of the original video game music in the video game music room, as well as rate them. Rating songs gives you Viz and CP. You can't remix/upload or whatever it is you're describing with the video game music room, sorry.

It's working fine on my end. It may be a problem with your internet connection or something else on your end.

vizzy90: Try clearing the history of your browser and see if that helps. Also check to see if your flash player is up to date (If this even uses that)
