I think....I get what you are saying here. Because this type of conversation is mostly talked on among a lot of people. its....not always easy to understand ones problems, but it is always good to try too since you may never know what happens if you don't. '-'

I agree. I've seen a lot of people even on this forum discussing sexism against guys and how they seem to think they're the only ones who have it unfair in today's society because the attitude has apparently changed. Meanwhile if someone were to complain about sexism against girls/women (assuming they're in a western country) they'll suddenly get bombarded with hate, and be told that they're actually being ignorant since sexism against women today is a myth. Then be told that they're the ones who are privileged because of "how the system is rigged in their favor now". Really if it's true that western society is more vocal about women's problems than men then the opposite is true on most parts of the internet.

Personally I'd say both parties are going about things the wrong way. Only focusing on one side of the problem when people of both sexes face problems. I think a lot of people need to realize things aren't all black and white and stop vilifying the other group only further driving society apart. Only then can we create a lasting change in how they way things are and most importantly, the attitude people have.

Honestly, I'll still argue that sexism against guys isn't talked about as much as sexism against girls, and it's still viewed as a joke.
No offense, but it also seems like you're projecting. A lot. Making a straw-man argument, if you will. I'm not saying that kind of stuff doesn't happen, but still.

There are extremists on both sides. Those who think sexism against girls is the worst thing ever, and sexism against guys is something made up, and vice versa. Both extremities are really dumb in my opinion, but extremists ideas usually are.

What really needs to happen is, whenever someone is talking about sexism against one gender, bringing up the fact that sexism happens to the other gender, it doesn't make the first argument void. It doesn't undermine it. It shouldn't be a competition.

Because feminism (Or if you prefer "Equality" because you have no idea what true feminism means) isn't "Men vs Women", it's Men *and* women working together to create a truly equal society.

(inb4 everyone uses this thread to attack feminism without knowing what it is)

The importance of equal participation from females, politically, career-wise, educationally, and more, is one of the most understanding requirements of the world today.

There was a thread a while back that touched on sexism. I made the comment that, across the world the education of women decreases child mortality rates and increases measurable quality of life for both genders.

I was challenged about those facts. And that's fine. A conversation ensued and we exchanged ideas.

There will always be conflict and problems and there are major religions that look at women as, if not completely subjugated by men, than at least 2nd or 1.5th class citizens. Dogma says women aren't on the same level of men.

That's tough to beat. Everyone, literally everyone is playing with a disadvantage, except me, being a white, land-owing, college-educated male in the United States. I win this by virtue and I recognize that. But I'm working on making changes and trying to elevate everyone else.

The question is, Kimmie, "What do you do different with your every-day activities?"

How do you make the change where you live to try to encourage equality and fairness without putting any group at a specific disadvantage. I love these posts you do because you're young and you're recognizing and having the conversations now instead of just going through life not seeing or not caring.

What's your plan? Complaining is the first part. Action has to be the second part. You don't get to grumble unless you try to do one thing.

Ghostbear1111 : yea i remember that convo lol i didn't participate but i saw it

idk what my "plan" is  i mean when some1 talks about wanting to "make a change" the first thing i think abt is politics bc you get power and stuff but i don't wanna get involved w/ politics bc it sounds tough and demanding and also i'd rather be remembered as an artist than a politician idk why it sounds nicer for some reason

maybe it's bc we always think of corruption when we hear stuff about politics/politicians and because "power corrupts" n all that noise

also i'm v indecisive + lazy so if i'm makin a change it ain't gonna b thru havin a position of authority i mean i'd rather do what i like (drawing + writing) instead of whatever it is government people do??? i guess it's going to meetings and looking @ papers n stuff ew no thanks

maybe i'll just try 2 convey certain messages thru stories n all that like i'm sort of doing now

so yea w/ me it's less "i wanna make important decisions that will change stuff for the better" but more like "i wanna inspire ppl to think in a way that would make them make important decisions that'll change stuff for the better" woo

I often see the total opposite. People are overly concerned about how girls feel, and guys aren't supposed to feel. Of course the same people that are overly concerned with making girls feel good are simultaneously ignoring the thoughts and reasons of women, but as far as feelings go, women definitely have more comfort offered in my experience.

But more, while men and women are equal, men and women are not the same. That's an obviously lie at the scientific, psychological, and phenomenological level. Let's give respect without attempting to blur the distinctions. The distinctions are what makes them great.

Txgangsta : Took the words right out of my mouth.

Every time I see a guy complain about sexism it's just "How can you complain about sexism? You don't know what sexism even feels like!" But whenever I see a girl complain about sexism the response is usually "yas you go gurl! show those men who's boss!"

Sure, you look everywhere and feminists are being made a meme out of, but that has less to do with sexism and more of the fact that many feminists like to take things out of proportion (hence the T R I G G E R E D thingy). I'm definitely one for female/male equality, I'm even somewhat of a feminist myself, but I think the comic in your post is backwards.

"obviously this isn't a huge issue taking place right now"

happy we agree though~

Although it's anecdotal I'd like to take a look at Kit Harrington. He tried to explain that sexism exists for men in the entertainment industry just as much as it does for women but he just got turned into a meme by feminists on the internet.

I get infuriated by SJW's in particular who take things out of proportion and are feminists for the sake of being feminists and don't actually do any research to back up their points. They bring up ridiculous points like the wage gap which doesn't exist (just a fact).

The place that needs real feminism would be places like Saudi Arabia. Not first world countries where, whether they believe it or not, they have just as many righs as men.
