The alternative Stories: The book’s secrets – Chapter 2: Zoe the mother

Look: Black, long hair. Green eyes. White skin. Wears a pink t-shirt with glittery heart print and blue jeans.
Age: 26
Personality: Nice and kind to others, but thanks to that she is a bit too soft towards others. Likes to help others.
Likes: Her job as a teacher, her husband and being active.
Dislikes: When her husband doesn’t help with the household.

Name: Jake
Last name: McFisher
Look: Black, medium-length hair. Blue eyes. White skin. Wears a dark blue hoodie and black jeans (when not on work)
Age: 27
Personality: Nice and helpful, but may be a bit harsh to people.
Likes: His job at the supermarket and his wife.
Dislikes: Flowers (allergic to…)

Name: Mike
Last name: Van Houten
Look: Blonde, long hair. A small goat beard. Blue eyes. White skin. Wears a yellow t-shirt with a black coat over it and black jeans (when not on work)

Personality: Almost always less serious, but if he’s serious, he’s helpful.
Likes: His job as a rock star (He’s not very popular, though) and spending time with his girlfriend Jess.
Dislikes: His enemies.

Look: Black, long hair (long ponytail). Has brown eye color and freckles. Black skin. Wears a lime-green t-shirt with a print of a cat wearing headphones on it. Also wears black, really short jeans and small boots with fake animal fur on it.

Personality: Harsh and rebellious, can be cruel but tries to be nice most of the time. Short-tempered.
Likes: Gaming, her part-time job in the supermarket, her boyfriend Mike.
Dislikes: People who are cruel to her and clumsy people.

Name: Ryan
Last name: Grant
Look: Brown, short hair. Blue eyes, wearing glasses. White skin. Wears a white shirt with a dark blue coat over it. And wears blue jeans.
Age: 27
Personality: Clumsy, and can be helpful. Can also be harsh, though. And is mostly full of energy.
Likes: Working on his stories as a hobby, but is a teacher on a middle school, of which he enjoys too.
Dislikes: People who are too late for something.

Last name: McKinsey
Look: Red, long hair. Blue eyes, wearing glasses. White skin. Wears a loose sweatshirt in pink, and very, very short pants in black. Also wears brown boots that even goes over her knees.
Age: 25
Personality: Shy, but if she contacts, she can be helpful. She is very, very shy, though.
Likes: Gaming. A lot of gaming.
Dislikes: Making room in her life for cleaning up her house. That’s why it’s an enormous mess in her house.

Look: Bold. Red, bloody eyes. VERY white skin color. Has black tentacles on his back. Wears a dark red shirt and black pants. Also has claws instead of hands.

Personality: ????
Likes: Murdering people, especially when they are nearby this person. Even enjoys murdering innocent people with his tentacles, which have their own will.
Dislikes: ????

Chapter 2: Zoe the mother

Zoe arrived at school. Her boss, who was her popular schoolmate Martin, was at the gate.
Martin: “Why are you so late, Zoe? It’s nothing for you to be this late.”
Zoe: “Well, Jake and I found out something amazing just a few minutes ago.”
Martin was curious. Meanwhile, three students from Zoe’s class came up to her. Their names were Emily (14), Roy (13) and Felix (14). They were always with each other, as they were good friends of each other. There were a lot of students on the schoolyard. Oh that’s right! They have a break now!
Emily: “Hey, miss.”
Roy: “How are you doing?”
Zoe: “Hi, Emily! And I’m doing fantastic!”
Felix: “I already noticed. Why are you so happy?”
Martin went away and said something to Zoe.
Martin: “Zoe, please come to my office if you’re done.”
Zoe was thinking she was getting fired. That would be VERY bad.
Zoe: “Eh… Sorry, what did you say, Felix?”
Felix: “Why are you so happy?”
Zoe: “Well, I got something to tell you guys. But I’ll tell you all in class. Because this going to be important.”
Felix: “Okay.”
Emily: “Hey, guys. Look.”
Emily pointed at two boys who were playing football (or soccer) and now they were fighting. Two teachers ran out of the building. They stopped the two boys, of who their names are Eric and Aaron. The teachers were trying to calm the two, and Zoe walked towards them.
Teacher 1: “But you also could have just given the ball instead of kicking it away, Aaron. You know Eric has anger problems.”
Aaron: “But that (****) is so stupid to ignore that and just to attack me!”
Eric: “Nonsense! You should’ve just been giving me the ball like the teacher said!”
Aaron: “You want to fight, punk? You wanna fight!?”
Teacher 1: “No, Aaron!”
Martin heard everything. He went to the two.
Martin: “I don’t know what happened, but we will have a word in my office now anyway, Aaron.”
Martin grabbed Aaron’s arm tight and took him with him. Eric was yelling mean things to Aaron and Aaron did the same thing. Zoe sighed. The second teacher, called Rosa, noticed Zoe. The two could get along pretty well on school.
Rosa: “Oh hey, Zoe! Did you get what just happened?”
Zoe: “No… Not at all. What happened?”
Rosa picked up a stack of exams she laid down. She was 29 years old and had her brown hair in two really, really long ponytails. She also had blue eyes and wears a plain t-shirt in red and blue jeans.
Rosa: “Well, Aaron kicked away the ball when Eric wanted him. And they were in front of each other.”
Zoe: “Wait, Aaron is the ‘bully’, right?”
Rosa: “Yes, and sadly, he is still in my class next year.”
Zoe: “Haha! Good luck, Rose! Wait, he couldn’t make his exams AGAIN?”
Rosa: “Yeah, he’s the worst student in exams. But I don’t blame him for that. But you have Felix too, right?”
Zoe: “Yes, and that reminds me: I need to tell something to my class. Want to be there? It’ll stun you pretty hard what I’m going to say.”
Rosa: “Oh my… Now I’m really curious. Well, I’ll be there. Then Ryan has to take over my class for a second.”
Zoe: “Oh thank you , Rosa. You’re a good friend.”
The break (which lasted 3 minutes longer due to the fight) was finally over. The horn was making it’s noise and everyone went inside. In Zoe’s class, everyone took their seat. Zoe was waiting for Rosa. Finally, after 2 minutes…
Rosa: “Okay, I’m here.”
Rosa came in at Zoe’s classroom and closed the door.
Zoe: “Okay, everyone. *sigh*”
Rosa was thinking: Oh my, Zoe has something bad to tell?
Zoe: “As you guys know, I’m married with my love Jake McFisher. And we were both on this school when we were younger.”
Felix: “I didn’t knew that.”
Zoe: “Because you didn’t listen, Felix.”
Felix: “Heh… Right…”
Zoe: “But Jake and I wanted a baby… And…”
Rosa: “Oh my god, don’t tell me that you’re…”
Rosa went up from a chair she grabbed. Zoe was looking at her.
Zoe: “Yes, we’re going to have a baby.”
Rosa yelled from joy and ran to Zoe and hugged her.
Rosa: “Oh my god!! That’s so great!!”
Everyone was looking a bit skeptical when they saw Rosa doing that. But some students were clapping a bit. Rosa released Zoe.
Rosa: “When did you found it out?!”
Zoe: “Today. This morning.”
Rosa: “Oh, so you’re late because…”
Emily, Roy and 3 others were standing up. They were happy for Zoe. And Zoe was happy she told it.
Zoe: “Yep. That’s the reason…”
Rosa was so happy for Zoe. Meanwhile, Martin and another teacher, named Paul, came in. Apparently, they heard Rosa yelling.
Paul: “What’s wrong? Another spider?”
Rosa: “No! Zoe is… She’s… Zoe, tell it yourself!”
Zoe: “I’m going to have a baby soon.”
Paul walked up to Zoe. He was the tallest teacher, so he had to look down. He was a gardening teacher and was in Rosa’s class at first.
Paul: “Congratulations!”
Paul didn’t quite knew what to do in this case and gave her a hand, as he’s a bit of a clown too. Everyone laughed when they gave each other a hand.
Martin: “Zoe… Just… Wow. Congratulations.”
Zoe left a tear.
Zoe: “Th-thanks, guys… You’re so great… *sob*
15:30 PM, 14th of June, 2026…

At Anna’s home…

Anna was playing a shooter game. She loves games a lot.
Anna: “Come on… Die!!”
Anna was shooting a lot in the game but got killed anyway.
Anna: “Aww, how can he be so (****) strong?!”
The phone rang. Anna went up to find her phone. It’s still an enormous mess in her house: Clothes everywhere, empty food bags and packages everywhere… A lot of trash… Anyway, Anna found it and accepted the call.
Anna: “Hello?”
Zoe: “Hey, Ann! I have something to tell you at my house. Please come, it’s important!”
Anna: “But… My level… Ah, screw it. Okay, I’ll come.”
Zoe: “Thanks! See you later!”
Click!
The phone call was ended by Zoe. Anna just couldn’t leave her game alone. She decided to continue playing the shooter game, forgetting what Zoe asked.

Later…

Everyone was at Zoe and Jake’s house. Ryan, Mike, Jess, Zoe and Jake were sitting in front of the TV.
Ryan: “Where’s Anna?”
Jess: “Ah, screw her. She might even be continuing her silly game. Just forget about her being here.”
It was silent. The only sound they heard was the ticking of the clock. Ryan had to leave Ricky home for Zoe, as she’s allergic to dogs. He hoped Ricky wasn’t destroying the house. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Jake went up and opened the door. It was Anna.
Anna: “*huff* Sorry for that I’m so late… I forgot Zoe asked me to come.”
Jess was whispering things in Mike’s ear.
Jess: “She’s a lot more stupid than I thought.”
Anna took a seat next to Ryan. She didn’t notice that, though.
Zoe: “Okay, first of all you guys aren’t the first ones who are hearing this. I told this on my job too.”
Ryan smiled a bit. And Zoe and Jake held each other’s hand while sitting on their dining chair because there was no room left on the couch.
Zoe: “Are you guys ready?”
Mike: “It depends. What is the big news?”
Ryan: “Heh.”
Mike heard that and looked at Ryan.
Mike: “Do you know it already?”
Ryan: “I have a feeling that I’m right with what I’m thinking…”
Mike looked back to Zoe and Jake.
Zoe: “Guys, I’m pregnant.”
Anna wasn’t paying attention. She only heard the word “pregnant”. But then she knew what Zoe said. And Jess was surprised. Mike didn’t quite care, but said something positive anyway.
Mike: “Well, I already knew you two were ready for it, but good luck anyway.”
Ryan: “I KNEW IT!”
Mike was looking back at Ryan.
Mike: “Knew what?”
Ryan: “I knew you were saying that! And I also knew Zoe was going to say that!”
Jess: “Wow! Congratulations, I guess! When did you guys find out?”
Zoe: “Since this morning.”
Zoe was sighing.
Zoe: “I still can’t believe we did it, Jake.”
Jake was thinking so deep, that he had a shock when his name was mentioned.
Jake: “Huh? What?”
Zoe: “*giggle* Is something wrong?”
Jake: “No… Why you ask?”
Zoe: “Oh, you’re so silent… I thought something was wrong. Any of you guys want a cup of coffee?”
Jess: “No.”
Mike: “No, thank you.”
Ryan: “I want 87 percent of my cup filled with coffee, with only a little bit of sugar. Thank you.”
Zoe: “I’ll take that as a ‘no’. Okay, and you, Anna?”
Anna: “Uh? Oh, sorry…”
Anna was looking outside. She was fascinated by the clouds.
Anna: “No thanks… By the way, what was with the word ‘pregnant’?”
Jake: “Zoe is pregnant.”
Jess: “Maybe you ALSO could have been paying attention in the first place… Instead of looking at clouds.”
Anna: “Shut up, Jess.”
Jess: “What?”
Jess went up. She walked to Anna.
Jess: “YOU tell ME to shut up?!”
Mike went up too. Just to calm down Jess.
Mike: “Honey, please. Calm down.”
Jess: “Calm down?! You know what? I’ll calm down if I’m home again.”
Jess grabbed her stuff and her purse. She went to the door and opened it and was about to go away.
Jess: “If I see your ugly face one more time, Annabella McKinsey, I’ll make sure you will regret meeting me. For now, goodbye.”
Jess slammed the door so that it was closed on the hard way. Jess went home. Everyone was silent. Except Anna, who was sniffing a bit.
Ryan: “Anna, it’s not your fault…”
Anna went up, opened the door and went home as well. She was almost crying, but wanted to do that at home. Again, it was silent.
Mike: “Well, there goes number two. Who’s next?”
Ryan: “It’s no time for jokes now… I think they were too excited because of what Zoe said, but didn’t let us show that hidden emotion. As I said, it’s not Anna’s fault, let go Jess’ fault. It’s just that what Zoe said was too much for them.”
Zoe: “What? I’M the bad person now?”
Ryan: “No, and you couldn’t help this either. One day, if you didn’t tell you’re pregnant, they will figure it anyway. So I think this was the right decision.”
Jake: “He’s right. The news itself was too stunning, but Zoe was kind of… Eh… Ah, now I’ve lost it.”
Ryan was thinking about the book.
Ryan: “Oh, that’s right! I saw on the news yesterday that one of Philip’s family members, Isabella Ridgewell, died 160 years and 1 day ago. And there was a huge foundation dedicated to her and her stalker story. This foundation hosts an activity every 13th of June and a few days or even weeks after that. But I think Philip wanted to make something clear, as the book described Isabella completely.”
Mike: “What was that book, anyway?”
Ryan: “Philip’s family tree. That’s what the book is. And every family member of the Ridgewells are described in the book, of which I got with me.”
Ryan grabbed his bag and dug in it. Finally, he found the book. He was looking for the page with Arthur Ridgewell.
Ryan: “Aha, found it! “Arthur Ridgewell, the first Ridgewell. He was a master in exchanging objects with others. He died on the 13th of June, 1621, when he was 67 years old.” Then here’s a page missing, then co-…”
Jake: “Hold on, a page is missing?!”
Ryan: “Yeah, I found it weird too.”
Jake: “But Philip NEVER gives us something that misses something or broken. This is weird…”
Ryan: “Really?”
Jake: “Yes! Give me it quickly, I need to…”
Jake grabbed the book, but a page fell on the ground. Odd enough, it was at the last page. Jake skipped to that page, and saw a clear clue: It described Philip Ridgewell. The Philip they knew. His smile on the photo was clear enough to see it was indeed him.
Jake: “I knew it! He left the page on his own page! But what was THIS page?”
He took a look. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the page. It described a monster with a bold and bloody head, bloody eyes, very white skin color, tentacles on its back and a dark red shirt with dark blue pants. Why was this on Philip’s page? Why? Jake compared the paper left on the place the missing page was, with the page with the monster… No match. This was not the missing page.
Ryan: “I can’t find Isabella.”
Jake: “What?”
Ryan has a lot of documents in his bag, including the one of Isabella.
Ryan: “I seriously forgot the document! Aaargh!”
Jake: “What was on the document?”
Zoe was sleeping in the meantime. She laid on the couch.
Ryan: “…I don’t remember.”
Jake: “Great. Now we’re stuck.”
Ryan: “Can I have the book back now?”
Ryan grabbed the book from Jake’s hands, but he held it tight.
Jake: “No way, he gave it to me!”
Ryan and Jake were pulling the book, and suddenly the front of it began to break. It had something underneath the paper that covered the front, apparently.
Ryan: “Look what you did!”
Jake: “Hold on.”
Jake grabbed the thing that was hidden in the book. It was a letter and the missing page. The page was for Tommy Ridgewell, the only bold family member. He died on 14th of July, 1493. So it didn’t start with Arthur? The page described him: “No one knows what happened exactly, but old sources speak about a cannonball that killed him. Other sources say he played with magic too much. He died when he was 47 years old and his body was never found. It’s unknown where he died.” Jake grabbed the page with the monster and took a look at the painting for Tommy Ridgewell and the vague painting of the monster.
Jake: “Eh… Guys?! You may want to look at THIS!”
