So their is this on going dispute on between what is better, Xbox or PlayStation. We call this dispute the console war. But many discussions I have seen this year is what is a better gaming platform? PC or Consoles? And I am here to ask you that very question. My opinion on the topic would have to be PC. Spec wise they have far more capability then Consoles will ever have. Also, despite console exclusives, PC can play just about any game out their and you can always play games from previous generations and you have ROMS so the PC gaming library is endless. But what is your take, PC or Consoles?

This is going to be hard....since I do well on both and balance them out when I don't have the other...um I still play on my ps2 but I don't really have any modern consoles so at times I would play games of an emulator for that on my desktop. I would really want to go for both but....pc in a way outsmarts that. Because it has things not many consoles of today can contain. Like getting the Rom for a certain type of console game you want to go, and replay like ps2 or ps1 for an example. Many who doesn't have any consoles of their own will be using pc specs to play their games and much more happier than buying the consoles since not being able to afford it. I do hope I explained what you asked. @.@

I think it really depends on the game.
Platformers and TPS games I feel are better played with a controller, so naturally, better suited for console.

FPS or RTS are better with a keyboard and mouse, so I would say PC.

Vanelan : Well, you can hook up a controller to almost any PC game now. 80% of the games I own, I use an XBOX One controller for.

I would go for PC, because it's more accessible and ha a much bigger library, so finding a good game is no issue.

zanderlex : I think you really need to reword that, because something that drives most people away from PC is that it's less accessible. You could buy an XBOX One for $280 and be able to run Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3. Just buy the console, pop in the game, and there you are. If you wanted to play those on PC, however, you would need to either go through the trouble of building your own computer, or paying hundreds of dollars for a computer that can run those.

That being said, I think PC is definitely better than consoles. Anyone who says that consoles are better clearly hasn't actually tried to use their computer for gaming. PC has far and away the most games of any system, plus has ultimate customization for every game out there. Then you could emulate console games from Atari 2600 to Wii U. Consoles are limited in what you can do, computers are unlimited.

zanderlex : I think games that were made for console tend to work better on a console though. PC controllers don't always work so great, and for most games, you need a fairly powerful computer these days. And that usually costs way more than you can get a console for.
Not to mention, games on consoles just typically work. There is no extra configuration needed.

its not to say I am trying to convince any one either way, as I use both, but just my feelings about some of the newer games.

TheFadedWarrior : It really comes down to cost, like you said. Console gaming makes games WAY more accessible for people that don't necessarily know how to build a PC or don't have the funds to buy a "gaming computer."

I am not sure I agree with your emulation argument though. A lot of the emulators kinda suck and require a bit more knowledge to get working properly (have you tried an Amiga emulator? ) and might not be as limitless as you're making it seem.

TheFadedWarrior : Or someone could download steam and play more than 9,000 games. Not to mention that most people are already more likely to have a PC or laptop than a console for other stuff.

Vanelan : Well ya see a pc can do so much more then a console is what I'm getting at here. Its more then just a gaming platform. Browsing the web is easy and flawless, you can edit videos, twitch streaming is superior doing it through PC rather than nativly through a console. You have all these options with your PC and compared to XBOX or PlayStation, your options are quit limited. The emulating is more of a way to say that its basically the Pandora's box of gaming and just adds a slew of games to the library and that PC isn't shackled by generations.

There was a time when computers would have to cost thousands to match console games. Especially around the early-90s, the right PC could blow a console out of the water, but with a significant cost. During the turn of the millennium, components shot up in performance and down in price. This was when the PC could outperform a console for around the same cost. Today, you can actually build a computer that matches one of the flagship consoles for cheaper. Wanna spend $150 to play Minecraft and older games? You can do that. Wanna freak out and spend $1500 to play Crysis 3 on max settings with 4K surround at 144fps? You can do that as well! A PC can be customized in almost every aspect to accommodate price, aesthetics, performance, and even power consumption. It's only slightly more difficult to put a PC together than it would be to plug a console into your TV, but the satisfaction derived from the effort is totally worth it. The sheer amount of quality games is astounding. A PC can do everything a console can and then some.

I've always been a console gamer for the most part. They tend to be cheaper, and up until things like Steam came around, they always had a better selection of games (at least ones I liked more). It was also easier not having to worry about system requirements or anything like that since console hardware is already predetermined for you. I never had a lot of money for gaming, so consoles were just an easier option, with me often relying on used games to keep myself under budget.

I did spend a few years PC gaming though. I was really big into Blizzard games. Diablo 2, StarCraft, and WarCraft 3 were the ones I played all the time with a few friends. I loved playing as a Paladin in Diablo 2. In StarCraft and WarCraft 3, the option to make your own maps, or even entirely new games out of it's content, was something I spent a huge amount of time on.

I definitely consider myself to be a Console gamer. Always have been, always will be. Aside from vizzed and a few steam games, all the gaming I do is either on consoles or handhelds such as the 3DS and DS.

Console, easily. I can never get into gaming on a PC for some reason, as it just doesn't feel right. I grew up playing on consoles and handhelds and it's just always stayed that way, it feels more...appropriate. Also I associate computers with work, so that doesn't help. I have played a few games on PC that I enjoyed though, but in the end I always think "this would be so much better on console". Lol

I normally prefer to play console games. But currently, I am only able to play PC games currently.

Console games just have an old feel to them, or a natural feel to them, when playing with a controller as opposed to PC games + a controller. Or even without a controller it feels a little un-natural to me to play using keys to move up and down, shooting and ect.

Plus, certain keybindings can feel awkward if you cant change them and are used to a certain way. Such as Minecraft, I had to switch it from "WASD" to "OKL;" because im so used to using my right hand to move, but I cannot seem to switch it to the regular up left down right keys.

Im not saying there arent any good PC games out there, I do enjoy the occasional, I just prefer

Depends on the game. If it's an old game, PC. If it's a new game (HD for example), console. If I had to choose one between these two, I'd choose PC because like you said, there are so many things that the PC an do and the console cannot do, so that's a plus.

I'd have to say PC since it's what I mostly do and my favorite game, World of Warcraft, is a PC game. I do like console though. I'd like to get a PS4 as soon as I can =]
