Oscar Pistorius was once one of the most inspirational athletes on the planet, after he became the double leg amputee to compete in the Olympics back in 2012. About a half year later (Valentine's Day 2013), the shocking news came out that he had killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He claimed that he shot her because he mistook her for an intruder. The court didn't buy it, and around 3 and a half years after the murder took place, Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to 6 years in prison. I once thought he could become the first double amputee to win gold at the Olympics, but now he's a convicted murderer, like former NFL star Aaron Hernandez.

Oh that's sad. The wonders of what people can do to other people....this for me is a whole new level and uh..I found it rather strange in a way. I wonder why he even shot her in the first place? I guess there are some things we might never know....or maybe will know in time but not as of now. I just hope these types of crimes doesn't escalate or that would be very bad. '-'

6 years? That's it? He should've been given at very least 30 years for taking another life. That's just sick.

It's sad when people who many look up to do things like this. I remember watching him in that Olympics and being amazed and rooting for him and I'd imagine that many others around the world did also, especially people with a similar handicap.

That's really sad and pretty depressing, to him and to us. Just imagine a scenario, where you had really good potential, just to become a good athlete, and you are a inspiration to other people, only to give it up sooner or later just because of an accident. What's really depressing is the fact that he killed his girlfriend, and that she was mistook of an intruder, and I wonder what was Oscar's feelings towards her and what was the scene like during the murder. Like Eniitan said, "I guess there are some things we might never know..." I hope things like this would never happened like this again, but I guess that still might happen...

Davideo7 : Yup, that's it. Apparently, the minimum prison time for murder is supposedly 15, but for some reason he only got 6... I would've rather seen him get that than just 6, but it still wouldn't have been enough for what he did. He should be in jail for the rest of his life as far as I'm concerned.

gamerforlifeforever : I just heard about this case yesterday on the news and I agree with DAVID that OSCAR should have been given a 30 year sentence while I understand that he was a great athlete in my opinion a 6 year sentence is not long enough for murder especially if you take into consideration the grief and hardship that the victims family is forced to go through however if they can prove it was an accidental shooting then I guess 6 years is long enough

gamerforlifeforever :

I believe it could have been due to lack of evidence, however there could have been enough evidence to give him jail time. I don't know too much about the situation but this can happen.
