Critical Annihilation is one amazing game, for a multitude of reasons. For starters, the game itself is a lot of fun and looks beautiful, but also the music is amazing. The music is so good that it actually started a life long love for the musician who goes by the name of Shurk (formerly Shirk) That doesn’t happen often, where I love a specific musician only because of what they did in a video game. This game used to go by the name of Critical Mass, and I watched my favorite YouTuber Markiplier play it and I never actually fell in love with the game (Never even played it) But I fell in love with the music back when mark played it.

Fast forward a really long time and the developers changed the name of the game, added a whole bunch of stuff and released the game on steam, and I saw a few videos and decided that I finally had to test the game out for myself.

GRAPHICS: 10/10

The game simply looks stunning, I mean just go and look at the main menu of the game, you get a ice close up of earth from space and even that looks great, and it’s not even really a part of the game. All of the environments look simple at the start, kind of like something that you would see in a survival game, but then you fire off a rocket or something and you see the world start to dismantle around you and it looks just so cool. It’s full of colors, and has some pretty sweet particle effects, and overall it looks stunning!

SOUND: 10/10

The sound is no different than what I made it sound like when I first started talking about this game, the music is amazing. The original game had a song called Haunted by Shurk. If you like electric music, you should love this song. That song actually became the outro for many of Markipliers videos. I loved the song so much that I just had to look up Shurk and listen to all of their songs (I found so many other good songs by them that I fell in love with) They came back to do the music for this game and came up with a couple really fun and exciting songs that play as you shoot and destroy all kinds of zombies. The sound effects of all the guns aren’t too bad either.

ADDICTIVENESS: 10/10

Why wouldn’t the game be addicting? If you don’t believe me, you can go and watch one of the videos of people playing the game and you will soon be hooked on it as well, like I have. Whether it’s the fast paced, heart pounding action, the intense and wonderful music, or the incredible visuals, you will always be coming back for more, and you will never get bored of the game. Even after I beat the very first and easiest level, I kept going back a few times later on just to mess around with the world and see if I can get a high score, it’s lots of fun.

STORY: N/A

I’m going to leave this section alone for the most part because I’m not too sure that there even is much of a story in this game. Sure, I’d love to know why exactly there’s a guy inside of a closed off arena with all sorts of zombies, aliens, and spiders coming after him, I’d like to know why there are zombies in the first place, but those are all questions for another day. This game is about the game play, not the story, you start each level and fight off wave after wave of all sorts of creatures until you either die trageically or you pass the mission.

DEPTH: 8/10

Oh yes, this game pretty much as a lot going on. First off you have a large selection of levels to play through. Once you beat a level, you move on to the next one, so just getting to the point where you can just play any level on your own will will take up quite a bit of play time because there are 15 levels, and some of them are pretty long actually. In addition to the campaign missions, you also have various types of survival modes, as well as a large assortment of creatures to kill, weapons to pick up, and skills and upgrades. Beyond that, you have a decent collection of environments to explore and blow up, so there’s quite a bit to the game.

DIFFICULTY: 6

There will be blood. Lots of it. And most of the time it will be yours. You need to be very quick, because if you hesitate for just one second, you will be surrounded by literally dozens of enemy creatures. I was playing the very first level, standing still trying to shoot from the start point, and within seconds, I counted more than 20 in all directions and they were coming after me faster than I can kill them. You need to always be moving, you need to be able to use your guns and all of the weapons correctly, you have to know how to aim, and you have to have common sense as well, because sometimes some of the simplest things can kill you. If you hcan do all of that, then maybe you can stand a chance at beating the game, but honestly, even if you are pretty good, you might end up dying 3 to 5 times 5 minutes into a level during one of the really early levels, and nothing is more rage inducing than getting so close to the end of the level and then dying on like the final level, so yeah, be warned that even though the game is somewhat easy, if has its ways to get you.

OVERALL: 9.6/10

No matter what your reason is for playing this game, I’m positive that you will be hooked like it’s some sort of a drug. Your mind will go numb because of the hundreds to thousands of enemies attacking you in just one level and you will be jamming to the amazing music the whole time. You will have fun whether you win or die, and it’s so worth it. Just look at the price, the game only costs $10 on Steam and there’s so much more being added to the game all the time so even though it’s already much more than worth it now, it’s going to be even more so well in the future. If you can play this game, do it, or you will be missing out on a lot. Overall the game is great and my overall grade for Critical Annihilation is going to be a 9.5 out of 10.

This sounds really interesting to play. I like that sort of games so then I can try and see if I can't play it then watch it on youtube online to see the gameplay and such. These types of games I got myself into like parasite eve and such. I haven't come across this game before so I'll look into it. Another great review done here. I look forward to your next one.
