Do you remember back in the day where you would build something basic that used redstone or a piston and you felt like you knew everything? Well those days are long gone, if you want to compete with some of the stuff users are creating now, you’d probably have to recreate an entire country block by block to keep up. What is it that people have been building now? A GAME BOY ADVANCE! And it’s not just for show either, it actually works and can even somewhat play Pokemon Fire Red. Someone actually designed a GBA that could run a game, and you can actually explore. Of course, it’s very simple still, for instance there are no battles or full dialogue, but the build which took dozens of hours really works.

Here’s a video of the build in action, and a place where you can even download the build. I think this is really sweet, just as good as that working Skype build that was made a few months ago. What do you think of this? Is it one of the coolest builds you have ever seen or what? I’m impressed that not only people spend this much time working on such complex builds, but also that they can actually design these things they think will work before they start actually building.

I mean seriously though, if people can do all this, with such a simple block based game such as Minecrafr, and people can build all these crazy working things such as the Skype machine and a bunch of other stuff, just think of what can be done in the future when other people start doing just as crazy stuff. I’m almost positive that give it 5 to 10 years, and Minecraft itself will look just the same, but have even better builds that work better and do even more stuff.

That is freaking awesome. It blows my mind the things people pull off in Minecraft. I realize the actual game play is still in beta (if not alpha) form, but that's still pretty epic. I really hope they see it all the way through and create a fully playable Pokémon game inside of Minecraft (though Nintendo will probably come along and shut it down XD).

Mynamescox44 : Actually Nintendo physically wouldn't be able to do anything about it at all because it's not a game, it's just something within another game. The thing this person is making is something that Nintendo made, but it's owned by Microsoft, if they wanted to do anything about this guy building a playable GBA game in Minecraft, they would have to go after both Minecraft and Microsoft, they would have to shut down Minecraft before they can even touch this guy.

zanderlex : Don't get me wrong, I'm no law student here, but isn't it still use of their intellectual property? I understand where you're coming from, but unless the game is different enough to be considered unique, you would think they would still hold a copyright claim over it, especially when / if the Pokémon themselves get implemented.

That's just what I would think though. Like I said, I'm not familiar with this area of law.

(Sorry for the sandwich post, won't happen again )

Mynamescox44 : Yeah, but what are they going to get him for? He's playing someone else game. Just like Pokemon can't charge people for posting fan fics on fanfic. All of the ideas are theirs, but the stories belong to the website now, so if Pokemon wanted to stop people from posting fan fics, they would have to attack the fanfic website, which they wouldn't even be able to do. It's their idea, but they don't own the stuff.

Look at what happened here with Pokemon games. Hacks were taken down too along with regular games, but they didn't go after the people who made them.
