Smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, game consoles and other devices all have their functions and places, but we all have our preferences. What is your favorite/most used device for general purposes and why? I like the portability of smartphones, but have never been fond of touchscreens and their size limits their usefulness. And having no experience with tablets and very little with desktops, I see the laptop computer as being the most useful to me.

For me would be my laptop and my phone mostly I use them the most. So it would go like this by day laptop use. By night phone use to watch a lot of things on youtube. I wouldn't say desktop because well I haven't gotten to the point I am used to using it again. Since I was more on my laptop and phone. For instance my laptop holds many things movies films and anime. Also my layouts and what I do. For my phone it would be notes to jot down anything that flashes to my mind. For instance new threads ideas. A few sentences of a new poem or new layout ideas as well. Plus I can even do guide work on those notes like proper type down if I am working on my laptop or use word online when my laptop isn't overheating so much. My other work such as streaming screenshots and online word work for my guides would be for my desktop and its not in my room sadly I will have to travel to the livingroom to use it. When my room gets refurbished I plan on moving it there so it will be much more easier and flexible to use to my liking.

I mostly use my laptop for general computing purposes like typing a document, posting or doing staff work on vizzed, coding for college stuff, watching youtube videos, checking email, listening to music... etc. 

I only use my phone to check my email if I'm going somewhere where I don't need to carry my laptop with me. For example, going to any classes other than computer science, going to eat in a dining hall, walking around campus out of boredom, going to a store... etc.

If I'm bored and waiting for something (like a waiting room for airports or doctors), then I would probably play a game on my android phone, watch youtube videos using the youtube app, or google something I need to know at the moment. 

I own a tablet as well, but sadly I barely use it. I'm either just using my phone on the go or my laptop. At least my tablet was very cheap. So my laptop is my favorite device. Using a small, touch screen device is annoying.

I've used a desktop for the majority of my life. Never had a smartphone (I know, amazing at this time and age :p).

I have used laptops on the occasion, but I've never that good of an experience with them (well, not as good as the desktop). I never liked using touch pads either (but you can hook a mouse to a laptop, thankfully). I know that laptops are good for transportation purposes, but I've never had to utilize that yet.

So my favorite device has to go to the hard to move around desktop. Too many memories with it <3 xp.

I like to use laptops. I have a dumb phone so that I can text only my contacts list but sometimes watch stuff or play games on parents smart phones.  My small laptop doesn't work right for Vizzed or Gromsocial games so have to use mom's. Dad's laptop is like mine. Mine works great for other stuff though like Youtube or homework or almost what ever I want to do. Sometimes we use tablets at school but I'm always afraid they will break. I would like to get a desk top one day that is made for gaming.

While I prefer the portability of a phone, I don't like how limited they are.

So I would have to say I prefer a laptop, even though I decided to get a laptop that is hardly portable.

Eniitan : Yeah, almost all of my data is on one of the two laptops in the house. If I don't have access to either, then I can't really do anything because of the limitations of my old iphone 4. If I try to load any thread with it, Safari crashes. It does it every single time.

mohammedroxx3 : As stated above, I can't really do much of anything with my iphone. I do have my emails sent directly to it, though... because ever since Microsoft decided to build Skype into Outlook, my Hotmail account lags so bad that I can't actually load any of my emails. We do have an Alcatel One Touch Pixie Pulsar running Android to use as a home phone, and I can do a little more with it, but I mostly just use it to text my dad and emulate DS games. It works pretty well with games that are centered mostly around the touch screen like The World Ends With You or the Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton games.

Kilian : I'm actually hoping to build myself a gaming PC pretty soon, if I can find a job. I'm planning on building myself a bare bones build for around $250. Might even build it in a milk crate just to make people ask lol

My friend in high school found one of those at a garage sale though. xD

Generally I like laptops for general purpose use. You can set up almost anywhere and you have more options on a laptop than a smartphone.

m0ssb3rg935 : Yeah that I can understand. Which is why I always balance things out. So I know what I do. Where is the things I am looking for where they are stored and which device they are in. Its the best way I can maneuver for my work and how I can easily access them. I wouldn't want things to not be in order for me so then it becomes a problem when that happens. :/

Buddy, I can agree with you on so many levels. Touchscreens don't do me much good. However, I find it a bit uncomfortable to use laptops, seeing as they sit upon my lap and are quite spacious. It's better to use one on a table. I love my desktop computer though; it's comfortable and easy to use. It makes me feel relaxed. It truly doesn't matter what you might prefer in regards to computing devices; Just as long as you enjoy them, it's fine. It's mostly a matter of preference.  

That would be really cool to build your own computer. Our laptops usually stay on desks so I guess they could be called desk top. I don't think we ever actually use them on laps or anything other than table or desk.

I use my laptop. I mean, it's the only thing I have to use besides my 3DS, but there's no way you're ever going to get me to use the internet on that thing. I did have a phone, but stuff happened. Just stuff.

I am going to go with my phone, but not just any phone. I have 3 phones right now that all serve different purposes but the one that I use more than any of them is my Windows Phone which I have been using for everything for years. Sure, I love my laptop and can do MANY things on that that I can't do on the phone but there's still so much I can do on it.

For instance, about 90% of every review or long thread I have ever written was typed up on the phone, not to mention every paper, essay, or written homework over the last few years. I do more than half of my web browsing on this phone, whether it's posting, looking up sports stuff and news, my random Twitter rants, etc. The phone is also very tough, like the memes say, Nokia's don't break, I dropped it and had the battery pop out many times and never even had the phone get scratched.

I rarely use my laptop either when I'm at home either because of a few reasons, so once I'm home, I'm usually on my phone for about 6 hours before I go to bed, so it's obviously my number one device.

I spend all my time on my tablet, it makes posting very difficult with the auto correct, and the fact that my finger has to fly a cross the screen for me to type anything up at a decent pace.

I prefer my cell phone since I'm used to the touch screen and I do many things on there. I don't use it for vizzed but I use it for everything else such as email and Facebook. Plus my cell phone is the device I use to keep in contact with my friends. If I didn't have a cell phone I'd barely be able to talk to most of my friends, sadly.
