So anyone who has played Fire Emblem has reset after losing a unit. No exceptions. Even you did it, and you know it. Don't deny it.

So, what is your opinion of doing this? Is it wrong? Is it cheating?
Do you think it makes fire emblem playthroughs illegitimate?

Note: if it's your Lord who dies, it doesn't count. so don't bother mentioning that.
So with that in mind, I feel that a playthrough should only warrant a reset if something messed you up, like distractions etc. Otherwise, if it happens because of your terrible skills, you should be ashamed of yourself for resetting.

Note: this only applies to FE game modes that actually have units who perish forever.

I think it's absolutely legitimate unless it's a speed run. How are you actually supposed to learn a character's weaknesses and strengths without having him die a couple time? That's like saying you should be ashamed to use practice mode in smash to get better.

m0ssb3rg935 : By looking at the stats. There's even a stat for RNG ranges, and you can use that to assume various possibilities.

It's a tactical game, examine the stats and understand and interpret their strengths and weaknesses. It's not like Final Fantasy where you just take this and that and slam them together to see which one wins.

I've reset countless times. If I lose a unit I poured a lot of EXP into, I can't afford to lose it, or else the game becomes much harder. It is completely legitimate, unless you're playing a hardcore play through with no resets.

I never reset in fire emblem if one of my units die. I have no problem with anyone doing that as I like the vast majority of the characters in the games and I can understand the frustration of spending ages improving your characters just for them to die on the first enemy unit they encounter.
