Greeting and welcome to yet another review! While I don't want to spoil anything I may put small point not as relevant to the plot. This time I am returning to the world of Pokémon... um...wait why am I here... Oh never mind let's GO!

Graphics: 10

Just like it's predecessor, Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon is 3D. The dungeons are beautiful and the over-world outside of the dungeons are amazing as well. From small villages to major towns the scenery is great. Flowers, huge trees, space... Some many sights to see. This is cool seeing as past games only had one town.

Sound: 10

As usual I'm probably biased as I love Pokémon so much but despite that there a lot of cool soundtracks in this game. Several of which were in past games. Like Stop the Thief, which plays if you steal from a Kecleon Mart in a dungeon. The theme for an Outlaw, which plays while fighting outlaws. Many of the dungeon themes fit the area really well making it feel even more like an adventure.

Addictiveness: 9

I really enjoyed this game and would love playing it again. Still want to beat the final boss though... So at the moment I won't restart. But it is a game I could go through many times and still be fine. Just use a different team. I started with a Riolu and a Froakie. So that means any others are good for next time around.

Story: 10

This will be tricky... I don't want to say too much but... Ok, let's go with this. As usual you are a human who goes to the world of Pokémon to save the day. And also like normal you have no memory of why you are there. You meet your partner and set out on a journey. But for a change you actually start out going to school. You are too young to leave the village being a kid. So it takes quite a while before you are about to get away and really explore. You eventually find a place much like the guild in Time, Darkness, and Sky. This starts the second half of the story and the real challenges that make the game the hardest to date.

Depth: 9

As usual you have so many Pokémon to find and befriend. But the many changes make things much harder. Gone are the days of dungeon hunting for your favorites. Now it is all about quests for any Pokémon you want. Complete the quest and befriend that Pokémon and any connected to it. So say a quest has you save Pelipper in a dungeon and it's friend Pikachu asks you to help. Upon completion you befriend the Pelipper and the Pikachu. And this will unlock other quests by making other Pokémon ask for help. Also there are many new features that were not in prior games. My favorite that is minor on its own is self rescue. Using others in your team you can rescue yourself if you lose.

Difficulty: 10

This game is the hardest Mystery Dungeon game to date. Probably even one of the hardest Pokémon titles. The mechanics are simple but the farther you go the harder it becomes. I always ended up feeling under-leveled. And now at the final boss I can't win. I constantly die. The guy can take me out in one shot despite typing. I have to say there is a problem with that.

Overall: 9.6

Despite the difficulty I still really loved this game. Story wise they did a lot to really make this game amazing. The fact that this one and the last Mystery Dungeon seem to be teaching a lesson of some sort is interesting as well. The music made me happy by including some of my favorites from past games and creating new favorites. The fact that you don't have to beat the game to listen to the music in the jukebox is awesome too. But of course for the song to be unlocked you have to find it in game but you can listen to all your favorites after hearing them once. So many great things came out of this game. My personal favorite is the 3D sprite of one of my all time favorite Pokémon. Riolu and Lucario!

As always thanks for reading and see you next time! If I can remember the way back anyway!

Wonderful review as always. Its sad that I won't be able to play the game due to like I said in one of your threads that I don't have the console to play it. Maybe in time I will or not. I look forward to reading another review from you. ^^

Great review, and I certainly agree with the majority of it!

I was planning to make a review of this game myself after binge-gaming it (and I'm still going through the after-game, mind you), and still might, but it's going to be hard without seeming like I'm copying you!

My one disagreement is on difficulty. It's certainly hard (and DEFINITELY harder than the beginner difficulty that Gates to Infinity offered throughout its story), but many of the items have complemented the increase in difficulty. Have you checked the damage output of items that previously were only useful for early-game, such as Blast Seeds? You'll be pleasantly surprised. Then again, I suppose having a Treecko with Overgrowth ability and Giga Drain really helped, even though I suffered plenty thanks to type disadvantages before the final boss. At this point I'm thoroughly convinced that the series hates grass-types and wants them all to burn in hell. But I persisted!

I'm surprised you said nothing of the main mechanic of Super Mystery Dungeon: the use of Looplets and Emeras. It's pretty crucial to be able to use them well in order to get far, even when you have horrible type matchups in said dungeon, and is also now yet another random feature of dungeons. Sometimes you get horrible Emeras that serve no use, and other times you get Barrage, Power Boost X/Y, Type Bulldozer, and Intimidate.

Other than not going over that mechanic a bit, though, this is a very solid, well-structured, and informative review. Great job!
