The controversy over this song can be intriguing... I am just wondering how you guys interpreted the message of it.

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is often deemed one of the best rock songs ever to exist. Love it or hate it, it is extremely popular especially considering the fact that it is over 8 minutes long. With it being so long, you would, of course, expect it to have a rather deep meaning, but this song goes beyond that. It not only has a questionable nature when normally listening to it but also is coined as having satanic messages when listened to backwards. Even how the lyrics came about is shady at best...  "The lyrics came to Robert Plant in a flash of inspiration when he and Jimmy Page were sitting by the fireplace at Headley Grange with Page strumming the intro chords. Said Plant: "I was holding a pencil and paper, and for some reason I was in a very bad mood. Then all of a sudden my hand was writing out the words, 'There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.' I just sat there and looked at the words and then I almost leapt out of my seat." This too causes food for thought... I could continue, but I feel that this is enough backstory for those who are a bit ignorant on the topic... So, as the description says, how do you feel about all of this; does it change the way you think of the song?
