In the eastern sky, you get to see a real treat. Venus, Mars, and Jupiter in almost the same area with Mars being a little to the left of Jupiter and very faint and to add to it, the Mars/Jupiter conjunction on the 17th. As well as Mercury close to the horizon toward the NE. If you miss this, you won't get to see something like this til 2021 and the Mars/Jupiter conjunction til January 7, 2018.

LordGaldan : Cool. I'm usually out walking my dog about an hour before sunrise. About a week ago I noticed Venus and Jupiter in the sky near the moon. Don't get to see Mercury too often being that it's so close to the sun it's easy to miss.

It seems like star gazers have been spoiled in the past few weeks. Ever since the sun rose after 7:30 a.m. where I live it seems like we can see all these bright planets in the sky. Hopefully the ambiant smoke will not hide too much of the show!

LordGaldan : I missed it. I honestly didn't hear about it until I saw this post. I hope I'll remember about the next one in 2018, because that would be really cool to see.
