So my dad bought me a radio/alarm clock for my birthday. I tuned it to the right thing, memorized it, and I set it to AM radio tuning.

I spin the tuning wheel a little, and I hear a very strange voice with weird static-y sound covering it. I listen closer. I made out:

"...and people need to understa- *glass breaking noise?* nd that...."
And then the power went out, we had a thunderstorm

What do you guys think this was? Who do you think was it talking?

I think it was presidental high secret stuff. It didn't sound like Obama or any of those people at all.(Of course, if it was top secret, they wouldn't have broadcasted it)

Anyways, this creeps me out a lot and I'm literally sitting here shivering while typing this, regretting reliving it >.>

All of this is true. This isn't a story...

Sounds like your signal was not very good and they were having a talk portion of a show. I see nothing scary about this but I can see if you were scared about it because you were actually there and I was not.

That's how radios work silly, let's say that there's a station on 660, you can hear it fine there but if you go a little bit to either side of it like to 670 and 680, you will still hear it but not as strong.

Even if there's another program on a nearby station and you go between the two, you could even hear both programs at the same time.

That's always normal.

Lol this happened to me once with a TV show... the show creeped me out so much concerning presidentual stuff. This was several years ago though when I was quite young like 12 or something.

It's normal for radio's to do that though. Don't be scared

As others said, this is pretty normal for radios.

I can speak from experience- I've owned many radios in my life of many different "ages". I have one from 1968, makes that noise often (when it works), and another one from 2013, also makes that noise. It's mostly a matter of coincidence, ESPECIALLY in your case.

You probably didn't hear anything besides some debate or discussion.

I have to say, the fact that the power went out just then is especially cool.

To add to what other have said, not only is it likely a radio show, but the thunderstorm could of been helping the whole situation along by causing interference with the radio frequency, thus increasing the chance of a poor signal.

Sounds like a classic case of battery  power failure to me. Might want to look into that. Sorry I could not provide a better answer.

Just remember, the radio broadcast is more scared of you than you are of it.

My alarm clock is set to wake me up every morning with some nutjob ranting about politics on the radio. I tell you what, that's some scary stuff.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You were probably getting mixed signals for a little bit there. Some stations, as well as your location, can make it easier sometimes to get parts of two different radio stations.

I'm really not the type of person to read into this type of thing so I will avoid ruining the fun or excitement and just say. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it was something secret they certainly wouldn't broadcast it over the airwaves. Nothing to worry yourself about.

Hey back in the old days, we used to be able to listen to neighbors Cordless Phone conversations if we tuned our UHF TV's into the high numbers. Was way more interesting than listening to the radio lol

Oh, my god i know exactly what happened.
So you're dad is a secret agent but he never told you it, so he was on a top secret mission to spy on some other organization, so he steals their radio/alarm. But he also bought one for you, but he accidently gave you the wrong one. THAT RADIO CONTAINS TOP SECRETS !!!
