It's simple. I mean eh. I live on the internet, I accept it as reality. But I feel as if I lose so much from stories by having them spoiled. Take Kingdom Hearts for example. A great game series, I enjoyed it seeing as I grew up on both (classic as in when my Grandmother was a kid.) Disney and Final Fantasy. That and it had great graphics, a good story (I started with two. Had to piece a lot together. Only one I played actually.) and great gameplay.

But due to the internet, I've practically have had every bit of the series revealed. It would have been nice to sit down and play through it all and experience it first hand before knowing so and so happens.

And I mean it's not just Kingdom Hearts, it's everywhere and almost everything. It's reality for anyone who spends as much time on the internet as I do. But it's annoying.

I do agree that seeing a spoiler and finding out what happens can really unmotivates you in some cases like for me it would be persona 4. I played the game but I already knew everything about what was going to happen before I even got half way through it. I did it on purpose because the suspense was killing me and I really wanted to know what was going on but once I knew everything that was going to happen, actually completing the game has seemed less interesting to me. Yes, playing it and watching it is fun, but knowing what's going to happen just causes you to lose most motivation to continue.

You'd think after spending "so much time on the internet" that you'd learn to avoid places that spoil things.

I haven't had anything spoiled in years, and I practically live on the internet.

legacyme3 : Well, I check facebook daily for a couple reasons, that's where I take care of my actual social life, and I keep in touch with family there. And when you have it in your news feed every two seconds, it just happens. I don't really try to avoid it or look for it. I mean I guess ticking off is the wrong word too. It's just sort of "bleh".

I agree with this. Many of the youtubers I watch that review anime or manga often find themselves reading spoilers as a result of simply being on the internet. I strongly dislike it when others just completely give away key elements of the plot for no reason.

I recently considered watching the Fate stay night/ zero series and on a different forum, I posed the question, which should I watch first? Apparently there is some sort of debate as to which one should be watched first, nonetheless, I end up receiving several pms from other users just spoiling the entire series.

It truly is one of the consequences of browsing content on the internet. I hope I don't find myself in a situation like this again anytime soon.

Razor-987 : Oh god. What a waste. I've only seen Zero, but I'd recommend it.

Frodlex : Well, how I normally do it, I always try to avoid anything that has anything to do with any kind of spoilers which will ruin any kind of storyline that is going to be told and to me, what's really the point on what's going to happened when it is told by someone else.

This is also another reason why I avoid any kind of leaks because most leaks has those spoilers. Spoilers are and forever be bad.

I'm with leggy, honestly. Games like KH have been around long enough that it's your own fault if you see spoilers, and most current games won't have spoilers released for a few months at least. If you want to stay ahead of the spoilers, simply play the games. You can always hide the posts of game pages on facebook and stuff, so you can only see their stuff if you navigate to their page, if spoilers bug you that badly.

I mean, I hate spoilers, but 80% of the time (or more) they're my own fault.

legacyme3 : You're (again) absolutely, unequivoically, without any sarcasm, 100% correct.  I was going to say the exact same thing.

If I really like Dexter the tv show and I love to read what people have to say and I can't wait to get online to speculate, talk, and see the rumors and all, I should darn well know if I miss an episode..... maybe don't go online to those websites?  Maybe?

I love sports and I know if I miss the final of a game or I don't want to see it, I don't go to Yahoo or some of the other major news sources because they'll splash the scores at the top of the page.  I can come here or to one of my war games until I see the result the way I want to see it.

Just because you're online and you have endless information at your fingertips doesn't mean you can't figure out how to avoid said information.  I have no idea how people never learned what a media blackout is and how to separate themselves from a particular discussion.

Baffling.

It's not the internet, it's you.  If you haven't played Final Fantasy 3 and you want to see the end, don't go to Youtube and watch "Final Fantasy 3 endings."  Of course you're going to see spoilers.
