I watched a video on Halo 5: Guardians sometime last month. There was a line in that video that I changed up just a tad bit: 
"I am the keeper of my soul." 
I am going to get that tattoo'ed on me. Only thing is... with just a short one liner, I don't where to put it. 

I just noticed that my co-worker has a quote on his arm, and it looks like a poem. So I thought that it might be a possibility. 


So, here are the rules of this contest:  

1. You must use the line "I am the keeper of my soul" in your poem somewhere. 
2. No more than 8 lines if the lines are short, 4-6 if they are longer. 
3. This contest will end when I feel it has run it's course. That could be a few months, a few days, or when I feel that I have found the perfect poem. 

Rewards: 
1. Up to 25,000 Viz. Trust me, I can get Viz easily enough, so by the time the winner is announced, I'll have it. 
2. Credit given to you. 
3. Possibly your initials, if you so choose, on the tattoo, if I can get it done tastefully.

I'm not the biggest fan of a man using my words for a tattoo, but I'll enter your competition for the Viz. And I love to write poetry, so it's a win/win. I hope you make the most of it! I'll write several four-liners. You can combine them to form more poems, if you wish.

supernerd117 : They are good, but nothing I would get tattooed. 

1. The first one talks about selling my soul. Sure, I sold it to the military, per say, but the " but now I choose the better part " just ruins it. 
2. The 2nd one seems like trying to get married, and being self-reighteous, for lack of better ways to describe it. Again, that's not me. 
3. THe 3rd one mentions god. I'm agnostic and anti-religion. I don't care about what you do with religion, but when somebody starts talking about religion to me, unless I am debating something, I am closing my ears and walking away. And the last 2 line are cheesy. Again, this one sounds like a desperate. 

thing1 : Well, I hope the best for you. I'm sorry that none of my poems "clicked" with you. I tried my best...maybe I'll keep trying until I find one that you like. But I will say that I'm highly religious, so I won't write anything anti-religion or in that vein. Most stuff I write will be like the ones I wrote, at least to a certain extent.

Yeah, it's super cheesy. But that's usually my style, and I rarely break out of it, unless I have a good reason. All the Viz in the world wouldn't change how I write. Thank you for this chance, though. It gave me some good practice, and I'm sorry if you're offended by what I wrote.

supernerd117 : You didn't offend me at all. It's just I don't want anything that I see as religious in the poem, you know? And I'm not asking for anti - religious... just religious - free. 

thing1 : Gotcha, I understand. Maybe I'll give it another shot after a while.
