The reason we can't really do Nintendo DS games here is that we would have legal issues with it, not to mention the size. The Psx games are HUGE, and it causes server strains sometimes... Which also costs money, and we would need more site income for that... We already barely make the costs, if you look at the index page you can see that. I think it would be awesome, but at this point, it'll take a while before it's possible.

zen162 : Yeah, darth yoda is absolutely right, ps games alone are huge, so a ds would be even harder. Not to mention, nintendo would really be aggressive in protecting their relatively new games, vizzed can do the old games because there are not as many copyright issues. Basically, the way it is now, vizzed is not stealing anything from anyone, most of the consoles are so old they are nearly impossible to buy. But a ds would really be taking something from nintendo, and vizzed would be in huge trouble. (Just for reference, though a ds selection on here would be awesome! There are so many games on there that I would love to try!)

It would be even harder to add Ds games now with all the stuff Nintendo has been doing lately such as forcing Coolrom to take down their DS games. So pretty much, no site can have DS games at the moment, not just Vizzed.

darthyoda :
zanderlex :
FaithFighter :
To lay devils advocate, DS games are only 10MB-20MB for small ones up to 50-60MB for big ones, not much different than N64 carts (DS runs off carts remember not CDs like PS). And all the games here, regardless of system, are just as illegal and have all the same copyright problems as any game we do or don't have, just the older ones the respective company is less willing to defend in court.

Though in "harder", you would be right that DS is more system intensive than PS, and DS is more likely to get us in court.

bigger0gamer : Of all the other sites I know, the DS is the only one that Nintendo actually forced to take down.

bigger0gamer : Zanderlex has a point, what you said may be partly true, ds isn't much different than the others. But the fact is that after a certain time period passes, nintendo is more willing to let their games live on in roms and sites like vizzed. But their newer products they know they can still get money from, so they are more ready to defend it. Technically, copyrights state that you can copy it with express permission from nintendo. Also, Davideo7 also clearly states that he will take down any game that they say is a copyright violation. So as long as they don't ask him to take it down, they are giving us permission to keep their games alive. Besides that, I'm sure the emulators for the ds might be a little more than vizzed would be able to handle.

There are reaaons for this not being possible for Vizzed cuurrently (especially legal reasons), but in the end suffice to say that David feels it unwise to add them right now.

I can understand you asking this since many new users wonder about it. Please be sure to read the forum rules thread.
