If you read my review of Super Pika Land Ultra: Chocolate Version then you know that I didn't enjoy this when I first played it. The truth is, I never actually could be bothered to finish the game since I got bored so quickly. So, without further ado, this i my review of the Original Super Pika Land hack for Nintendo Game Boy!

Games I review will be rated in stars (I rated the game a 4.5, so its star count would be ★★★★☆ )

Graphics- ★★★
The game's graphics, besides the enemies and [ ? ] blocks, are nothing special. The game just seems to be a re-skinned Super Mario Land
The only thing I can see where the default sprites have been put to a half-decent use is that the levels are slightly different, in fact, the Sprites at the end of Level 1-3 with an NPC Sprite turning into a Jigglypuff could have been used for a little reference that I'll explain later.

Music- ★★★
I don't really have much to say about the music, its all just re-used from Super Mario Land. My two favorite songs from the game is the Easton Kingdom (World 3) theme and the Ending Credits theme.

Addictiveness-
I'm sorry to everybody who likes this game (which I can see is a lot of people because I looked at the comments after I finished playing.)
I've just never found any major fun in this game, I can't really say anything else about it. You can by all means enjoy the game if you want but I don't enjoy it that much if at all.

Story- *crickets chirp*
Wait... there's a story here?

Depth- ★☆
I gave the game 1.5 stars because the game has a little bit of depth but giving it 2 stars is being too generous in my opinion, it just feels like a game you'd play when your bored, considering you could probably beat it in 5 minutes if you wanted to. Nothing much here, but a decent time-waster.

Difficulty-
What else can I say about the difficulty? I think I've already established that the game is really easy and is probably only useful as something to do when you're bored. The only little difficulty there is is that the physics engine is very poor.

Overall- ★★★★☆
I would laugh in the face of anybody who would give this game a 10. It feels very hard to control and like I've said multiple times, can only really be used as something to waste time on, if I were to suggest any game, where it be Super Pika Land or Super Mario Land, please just go and play Super Mario Land 2. It's much better and it probably won't be too hard to just slap a Pikachu over Mario.

Complaints
And here we are, my personal favourite part of reviewing these games, the Complaints:
I'll start off with something minor, earlier in the review I said about a little reference they missed. Well, they could've had the NPC sprite be Bill's sprite from Pokemon Red & Blue and made the Jigglypuff a Clefairy. It's not much, but it could've made for a great little reference.

My next two complaints are about the same level: Level 1-3. My first complaint is the section from the original Super Mario Land that involves two options: If you're Small Mario, you can walk underneath the platform to get the coins, but if you're Super Mario, you have to break the Brick Blocks and skip that part. In Super Pika Land, if you're Pikachu and not Raichu, you're essentially stuck and have to commit suicide or let the timer run out since you can't break the blocks even though you're still the same size as Raichu and can't go underneath the platform like Small Mario can in SML.

My second 1-3 complaint is some falling [ ! ] after that section I mentioned in the first complaint. When I try to run over them, the first two seemed to not have any Collision Detection as I just fell straight through. I don't know if this is by chance or a bug that the developers made but I tried that section multiple times and the same thing happened every time.

Welp, this was my review of the original Super Pika Land. If you read my review on Super Pika Land Chocolate Version, you would probably know that I love that game for its great music, tight controls and overall wonderful gameplay. If you like this game, its guarenteed that you'll like the Chocolate Version even more.
