The only game making I know is mugen, which is fun and all, but is there an engine that's as simplified as mugen but can make better stuff? Besides 2 d fighters, Id like to make an rpg type game but am very intimated by some of the engines out there, like blender.

You could try Game Maker Studio or RPG Maker. IG Maker might be a good one to use too. Hope this helps. They all have trials and GM has a lite version.

Don't forget Adobe Flash!
If you want something interesting, easy to learn, yet with loads of potential for advancement; Flash is for you!
It uses Action script, which is IMO the simplest way to get into the actual programming side of things.
Don't be thwarted by the fact that you have to write code, though, just give it a try; it's insanely easy.
Also, RPG Maker's Ruby RGSS capabilities are pretty nifty, you can learn some basics by simply editing existing code to do what you want it to.

If you do use RPG Maker, it is pretty limited if you don't learn at least a little Ruby.
