since many people around that site haven't the decency to show ANY respect towards other people i went looking around and have for a way to block someone ENTIRELY and it has to do with google+. actually, i think it has to do with how google had the bright idea to link your youtube account to a google+ account back when they were pretty much forcing you to make a google+ account JUST to post comments on videos.

basically, all you have to do is right click the username of whomever you wish to block in the comments section and click "open in new tab". that should open a new tab with that users google+ profile so the 1st thing to do is block that. next, while still on the G+ profile, find the youtube profile and block that as well. doing this usually results in the targets comments being blocked entirely so not only will they stop appearing in your notifications (that little bell thing in the upper right corner) but also render said users comments completely invisible to you.

not to sound overly hostile or anything but i for one choose to NOT embrace the mlp:fim fandoms motto of "love and tolerate" when it comes to the downright toxic people of the youtube comment section. 10 times, it has been over TEN different occasions where i have been attacked for nothing more than being a fan of the show. everything from...well, i'll spare you all the insults (if you frequent youtube enough then you've probably seen it yourself concerning bronies) but it can range from homophobic remarks to being called autistic (why the heck is that even a fad of trolls in the first place? its probably false most of the time. and no, i am not autistic despite what the trolls may want you to believe. >.>) to just being attacked because of my avatar (same one i use here minus the pic of iggy koopa in the corner).

if those ignorant fools can't show a shred of human decency and/or respect and choose to instead attack people they know nothing about then they deserve to be blocked imo or in the case of one profile, double blocked and reported for having a hate message on his profile (again, i'll spare you the details.)

feel free to use the above method if things start getting a little too...negative on youtube. google made it so anyone can moderate in the comments (to a certain extent if its not your own video) and i will gladly make use of such features if it means making the place a nicer place to visit...one user at a time.

For your information, AdBlock Plus actually has a feature that allows you to hide the entire Youtube comments section. Definitely an app you should look into getting if you don't have it already. It's much quicker and far less tedious than painstakingly blocking individual people. It's not like you're missing out on much from that cesspool, anyway.

And yeah. Sorry you have to go through that crap. I'm certainly not a brony, but nobody should be harassed and insulted like that because of their interests regardless of what they are. Just don't concern yourself with those scumbags; their minds probably won't change any time soon and it's not worth the effort to try and convince them to.

jmascis14 : Have you really never been in any comment section on any video that had any positive discussion? In most Extra Credits videos I read through huge swaths of comments because people actually have discussions there.

tiropat : Yeah, there are some exceptions, but those are few and far between from my experience. I've always found it better to ignore the comments and develop my own personal opinion of a video, anyway.
