So, I am scrolling through my Facebook feed, and find this tid bit of an article. 

Marvel brought in a guy from DC Comics to help write the 4 part series about The Wolverines death. He had a contract out on his head, and it was the guy who put the metal stuff in his body that had the dead or alive contract on him.

How could anyone kill an iconic character like that. Lose his healing factor how? Sadly I don't really read comics, but I have watched most of the Marvel movies, including X-men. I find it VERY sad that they would eliminate one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel universe... 

I know they did that before with the Ultron storyline, but still I don't like that. 

Just a quick question, what did you like on Facebook to get this update, I want to keep up with comics, but have no sources...

"In comics, no one stays dead except Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben". I may have not have gotten the quote verbatim, but the context is correct. He'll be back. It's a ploy to sell comics and promote the brand. If he stayed dead, fans would riot.

This is the same as when comic writers killed Superman, The Human Torch, and Peter Parker. Yeah, they die off for a while but eventually the writers will bring them back on a technicality.

These types of stunts are one of the main reasons I don't buy comics anymore. They may have great storylines and stuff but there's no return on your $3 to $8 investment. %95 of the time the comic loses %95 of it's cover price value the second you buy it.

Logan may be dead but I %100 guarantee he'll be back and in the mean time you could read about his son. What's his name? Daken?

Does anyone know how Logan died? Just curious. I guess I could Google it...

Wolverine is my brother's favourite comic character and he's been following this since the beginning. I remember breaking the news to him months ago that Marvel was going to kill Wolvie off. We both just sort of laughed, because you know he'll be back. 

I really like Wolverine too, but not enough to buy the 'Death of Wolverine' miniseries. I'll borrow it from my brother one day and read it.

thing1 : wow. that depresses me so much, as i am a HUGE fan of the xmen series. i hope that they somehow find some cheesy way to bring him back to life.

darthyoda : It's not the first time iconic characters have died. There's Superman, Spiderman, Batman and even Wolverine once before.

thephantombrain : The thing with Spiderman is that he died in 2 universes. The Ultimate universe and The Amazing Spiderman. He's still dead in the ultimate Spiderman (and we're stuck with Miles Morales) because most of the characters there actually stay dead like Wolverine when Magneto killed him. Wolverine died when he lost his healing factor by being possessed by a sentient virus from a multiverse and a contract was put on his head by Doctor Abraham Cornelius, the founder of the Weapon X program, who had developed a 'regen serum' that could duplicate Logan's healing factor. He went to Mr.Fantastic for help who told him to just take it easy. Abraham was going to use the 'regen serum' to create an army so instead Logan decided to sacrifice himself to Abrahama so he couldn't. The bounty was not set by Striker (the one who gave him adamantium).

Which brings me to my point that I don't expect Wolverine to stay dead for longer than a year or two. Most comic book characters a iconic as him stay dead unless they're in the Ultimate universe which tend to be a little more realistic.

darthyoda : Don't worry buddy.In comics,no popular character will EVER stay truly dead.Superman has been killed over 12 times.Still alive.Batman has died at least 8.Still alive.

With comics books,you can basically pull anything out of a hat,and it can still make sense.He will be brought back to life,eventually.Maybe in a reboot series.Maybe a new character will take upon the title "Wolverine." But i promise you,he will come back.

Do not believe it would even be more than a ploy. He sells way too many comics and movie tickets. I frequent a comic shop and have seen this series, but have not picked any up, nor would I. I'm more a Harley Quinn person. Maybe when DC kill her.

Blubcreator : Good point! I had completely forgotten about the Ultimate universe until you mentioned it. I suppose that was Marvel's answer to complainers like me. Create a second universe parallel to the first were the characters actually stay dead when they're killed. Thanks for reminding me of this.

I think I want to read some Ultimates now.
