Hi everyone! Mimerio here for another review! It's been quite a while I believe so let's begin from step 1. I review here relatively often if I get the chance or if a game reminds me of my childhood I will instantly look for it and review it after re-living memories.
To elaborate my reviews and to make them a bit more fun, I often use word-play or terms related to the game I am reviewing. Today is Pokemon Pinball - Ruby and Sapphire, so let's launch into it!
We start our review with the graphics! I loved these as a child and I couldn't believe a Game Boy Advance had the capabilities of making such beautiful graphics. I gave these a 9 out of 10, the only thing that could "bumper" it up a little would be to make it a little more colourful. Impossible now, but a nice suggestion no?
Score so far: 9 out of 10
Next is the sound, something I really enjoyed. Now correct me if I'm mistaken, but various pieces of music or the sound of this game has been recycled from Ruby and Sapphire. You ask me, if it's not new music why are you giving this a 10 out of 10? I'll tell you. I enjoy all the bloops and bleeps so much is because they remind me of playing Ruby and Sapphire. I can guarantee you'll "flip" with joy.
Score so far: 19 out of 20
Next comes the Addictiveness (Seriously? that word again? It doesn't exist!) Very addictive game, I could play this for literal hours as a child playing this to the point where my GBA charger would be so warm you could roast marshmallows on it!... not saying I did that as a kid. I'm not THAT stupid. But you get the basic idea, I was a very easily amused child, as I'm still an easily amused 20 year old to this day (of writing this) I used to "tilt" my head a lot as a side-effect of this game. Really.
Score so far: 29 out of 30
Next comes the story, to be frank, there isn't one. There's a "sort of" story where you go around collecting Pokemon around the Hoenn pinball tables, but there's no real story to do with gyms or battles like other Pokemon games, so I gave this a 3 out of 10 just to make give it a rating for what it deserves thus far. Must resist urge to make pinball.. related.. pun! Flip! Done it again!
Score so far: 32 out of 40
Second to last on our list comes the Depth of the game: This is where I feel the game shines in a unique way to different games. It features two methods (although they are the same) of gameplay and each one has roughly the same game play, but it requires you to play both to complete the game fully. I'll give a detailed description of which Pokemon can be found on which table later. I award this section a 7.
Score so far 39 out of 50
Finally comes the difficulty of the game. As with all games this is a very variable topic as some people may find it easy, some may find it hard and some may find it easy and hard at the same time. I'm more of the latter as this game isn't one of skill or dexterity; it's rather based on luck. Sometimes you'll be "tilting" with either confusion or rage or simply "rebounding" off the walls in joy that you captured your favourite Pokemon.
Score so far (and overall) 46 out of 60
And to close off this review it's time for the 5 words or less.
"Simply amazing sequel, I recommend"
Thanks for reading this rather long and detailed review! Hope I haven't bored you all too much! Happy Playing Vizzers!
