Of all the video game series that have come and gone, my favorite would have to be Chrono. The series had only had 3 main games, one of which only avaiable in Japan, but still had a huge effect on the gaming industry. I never actually played the games until I was intoroduced to Chrono Trigger a few months ago but after playing the game for a a couple hours I was able to see why the games were so popular. The game was even listed as one of the top 10 games of all time twice by IGN.

Only one other games was made after that in America, Cross, and then that was pretty much the end of it. The Playstation gamerecieved a perfect 10 by Gamespot, a 9.7 by IGN, and was listed in the top 100 all time games in 2008, yet the game simply ended there and no sequel was ever made.

There was supposed to be another game called Chrono Break, but after years of failure, the game was cancelled, and even though the older games have been put into newer systems a couple years ago, there has been no progress in bringing the series back.

What are your thoughts on the series?

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games, and is my favorite RPG for the SNES. I had a hard time getting into Chrono Cross, though. The battle system didn't quite make sense to me. But maybe I'll give it a try again.

If they ever decide to release a third game in the series (I hope they do), they probably should release HD remakes of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, with Chrono Trigger in 3D.

The series is a game that revolutionized the RPG status of the SNES. It's ridiculously expensive, and for good reason. It's a landmark for the lifeline of SNES. My view is just like the public, I adore it. I wish they could make more of them, if they revive the franchise.

I absolutely loved both Trigger and Cross
I do wish Chrono cross had a few less characters that it fleshed out more
Still, wonderful storyline, battle system, everything for both games
Even got a lot of small things right
like enemies appearing on the world view instead of just randomly attacking every few steps

While a lot of people complained about the elements system in chrono cross
I thought it really shined when you got it down
A unique approach that really made you think before entering any new area
Made you choose between getting a mix of stuff for versatility, or going in to spam a few powerful spells
