To me the Charizard that I like most would have to be Charizard X.

My favorite is mega charizard Y because Y does not need to set up if you are playing pokemon showdown so it can easily come out and solarbeam or fire blast everything for the win. 

It also has more useful moves in my opinion. 

Charizard X for me. I'll probably never use either of them, but at least Charizard X has the advantage of having a really snazzy colour scheme (Blue/Black all the way).

Now honestly I find Y more offensive, X more defensive. Y is crazy dangerous with it's drought, fire moves, and solar beam... but stealth rock is it's kryptonite, and rock moves in general will easily take it out leaving the drought behind can help or hurt the team, reducing water power but helping those who benefit in the sun, but any opposing fire type will be a major threat. X of course looks FREAKING AWESOME but has less power compared to Y, yet can stand a fight longer with it's fire-dragon typing (about time) and chance of wider variety rather than only using a powerful fire move and solarbeam. Due to it's ability tough claws it's a good user of dragon claw or fly which make direct contact and learns shadow claw and flare blitz as well, much more reliable than just flamethrower and solarbeam. I guess X wins this round, he can dish it AND take it with salt and pepper too.

I think design wise 95% of people are undoubtedly going to say Mega Charizard X... Me being one of them as it actually makes me like the design of Charizard a bit. I don't really care for how they do competitively as I usually use neither due to not being that big of a Charizard fan and I don't play competitively as often as I used to. That dragon typing is probably not too bad to have in game though eliminating that nasty 4x rock weakness... Still wont save it from stealth rock though That special attack looks pretty juicy though if you can set it up properly. I'm still wondering why they gave it such beefy special attack and then gave it an ability such as tough claws that boosts physical moves mainly. But I guess it could if you want a mixed sweeper.

Not much to say about Charizard Y it's an upgraded Charizard with drought that looks... A bit more spiky.

I agree with that 95% guess because Charizard X looks amazing and it looks even more amazing when in comparison to Y. That's really the only reason I chose to buy X instead of Y.

I like both versions of Charizard, however the one I used the most is Mega Charizard X. I brought Pokémon X so that is really the only reason why. I've recently got the other Megastone but have never actually tried to use it. So I don't know which one is better. However, Mega Charizard Y's ability Drought does sounds very tempting to use since I often use Ninetails or Klefkei for my sunny day teams.

Th3 De4th Eag1e : I prefer Mega Charizard Y better. It activates Sunny Day automatically, if it had SolarBeam and those things, it is super strong like that! Like awesomeguy said, it has more useful moves than Mega Charizard X. Mega Charizard X is not bad but why Nintendo would do a second mega form for Charizard?

I like Mega Charizard X because his typing but I forget the dragon typing.

Charizard Y mainly for the fact it keeps the same color scheme instead of it getting its shiny colors. Also keeps it same typing meaning I don't have to change my attacks to be mixed between normal and mega. Another thing the flames around the charizardx mouth sorta bothers me.

X is superior competitively, it's attack is monstrous, even killing off behemoths such as ferrothorn, chansey and heatran! And the fact that he's FINALLY a dragon type (take notes mega gyarados) and lastly, he's black and black is awesome.

Having used both, they each have their strengths and weaknesses, but of the two, I have to say that I prefer charizard X slightly more...mainly for design purposes, the color as well as the overall appearance are really amazing, not to mention its high attack and decent special attack which give it the opportunity to be a mixed attacker. Charizard Y is also very good as well, especially paired with its drought ability which can be dangerous when paired up with a solar beam. It all comes down to personal preference, but of the two, I like X more, probably since I have used it more, but still.....it is unfortunate that a stone edge can probably wipe both of them out. 

Wow.. I'm shocked that I'm going to be the oddball here! I mean, the poll is even, but the majority of the posts here lean towards Charizard X.  It's curious because I actually love black color schemes with most things.  I also own X and not Y because I liked the Pokémon better in X.  That being said, I think Charizard Y takes the cake all the way. Not being a very 'professional' Pokémon player, I would have no clue which one is more advantageous in battle (though I see in these posts that the consensus is X).  I simply don't like the black and blue color scheme even remotely. I think the orange Charizard is MUCH more appealing to look at.... not only for its color, but also for its body shape.

   Although X looks far cooler than Y, mostly since Y doesn't even look all that different, I love Mega Y Charizard. Not having to set up for Solar Beam helps defend him from slow water types, and it boosts fire moves as well. X is a more defensive Pokémon, but I think that with how many things can take him out quickly because of rock weakness for either mega, I'll take the more offensive one.
