Hello everyone, Ro.kerr here. Today, I'll be reviewing one of my favorite titles for the GBA: Megaman and Bass (not to mention this will also be my first review, so hopefully it's not too painful for you). Without further adieu, let's get started!

-Graphics-
In short, the graphics for Megaman and Bass are superb. The game developers made sure to add details to the environment around the characters, the background, etc. The other thing I really like about the graphics is how well it fits this specific game: they're beautiful and detailed, yet not too much detail is put into the things that don't matter as much. Each of the characters animations are well done and sets each character apart from one another.

-Sound-
The sound for Megaman and Bass is good, but I wouldn't say it's the game's strongest point. If I could categorize the music, I would say that it's traditional to the Megaman Classic series (mainly because, and correct me if I'm wrong, it IS a part of the Megaman Classic series). Each specific area has it's own stage music that's unique enough to help you when you're blasting through hordes of robots. I am slightly disappointed that each of the bosses all share the same music, but it's part of what usually happens in a Megaman game. The one soundtrack that I couldn't get enough of was the battle music against (SPOILER...ish?) King's tank and King's war plane. It was absolute madness fighting these tough enemies with this soundtrack playing, and I LOVED IT.

-Addictiveness-
Megaman and Bass can be very addictive, depending on who is playing. Let me elaborate on this a bit. For some people, losing to the same boss over and over again can be irritating, yet they continue playing until those people defeat that specific boss and feel so much joy after it has been defeated. I would know that feeling since I played through this game about 4 times as Bass and once as Megaman, but I'll go in depth about that in the difficulty. For people who refuse to lose to a specific boss, or for people who must complete a game 100%, Megaman and Bass will be quite addictive, ESPECIALLY if the person playing can't lose to a boss. *Cough, cough* ASTROMAN. *Ahem*

-Story-
I rated the Story for this game a 6 because the story isn't anything we haven't seen before. In fact, it's almost the exact same thing that usually happens in the Megaman Classic series: Bad guy (Dr. Wily) wants to rule the world somehow, hero has to fight through the bosses and beat the big bad boss, etc etc. The game doesn't go into huge details about things like "Why were these robots made?" or "Why and how do the characters get new powers?". I feel that if someone is completely new to the Classic Megaman series, he/she should read a brief description about the old Megaman before playing through this game, if he/she wishes. Although the Story for this game is generic, I am slightly okay with it since the game developers did the best thing they could have for the story, which is sticking to the same type of generic formula that has worked for them since the first few Megaman games.

-Depth-
Although Megaman and Bass is similar to the other Classic series, it has a few points that help it stand out from the others. For one, a player can collect bolts (In game currency) in order to buy upgrades to help you fight as you progress through the game. The other "side-quest" that you can do is to collect all the CDs, which are small, glittering CDs located all throughout the game. Most of them either require a specific power, skills, or both simultaneously. These CDs contain data on most, if not all, of the robot masters in the Megaman Classic series. The last point I want to make here for the depth portion is how the player can choose to play between Megaman and Bass. Both have their strong and weak points, their own respective upgrades, and different endings depending on who you play as. Besides the separate upgrades, CD hunting, and different endings, I feel that Megaman and Bass doesn't have much to offer outside of fighting robots. However, since fighting robots is the main point of the game, it's lack of depth is, how I can say, understandable.

-Difficulty-
The ONE thing, the absolute ONE THING that I MUST critique this game on is it's difficulty, and my goodness, was it tough! Described to some as one of, if not ,THE most difficult game to come from the Classic Megaman series, this game is an absolute nightmare to playthrough. Okay, a nightmare is a bit of an exaggeration, but playing through this game without any outside sources or help will have you losing lives like it's no tomorrow. What I really like about the difficulty is just how well it was done, such as capping your lives at 9 maximum, withholding better upgrades until you progress, each character's pros and cons, etc. As difficult as the game is, it's more of a challenge that must be defeated. If you're looking for a real challenge, PLEASE, play through this game without any outside help. In addition, I would also recommend playing as Bass first and then play through as Megaman (Trust me, it's more fun this way )

In summation, Megaman and Bass is an amazing game for anyone looking for a real challenge. I highly recommend at least trying it out.
That's it for my review, I hope you lived through it. Please, comment on what you think about the game (without spoilers for others) or what you think of the review itself! It was pretty sloppy, considering I did this on a whim.

Really great review. It had very good wording and details. Made me want to go play the game even though I am not much of a gamer. It also had a good length too it. I hope you keep writing reviews because I enjoyed reading yours.

Truly, honest to goodness, it makes me SO HAPPY that you enjoyed my first review! I really appreciate the kind words! I think I'll review either a Mario game, or perhaps Pokémon. I'll be sure to make another review soon!
