Graphics -   I'll be covering the ps3 portion of this and treating this as if those of you who are reading have never played this game, over the average version this game should only be picked up if you've never played the original, as it stands to be more of a game of the year type of deal, the detail models on the characters are what one would except from a studio like NetherRealm (creators of Mortal Kombat),  this game is a love letter to all the long time DC comic fans, the costumes respect source material to the general outline of each carefully crafted costume for hero/villain alike but with that special touch of NetherRealm's flair giving them sort of a gritty adult filter to fit the world around them, this attention to the costumes can even be seen amid/post battle where the scratches, bruises and other combat related injuries can be seen on your war-torn costumes.

The love and attention to detail didn't just stop at the characters however, it sprouted to the environment and interactables that we'll cover later on in the review, the battle rages on spanning from Arkham Asylum, to Metropolis and beyond, each stage being littered with Easter Eggs that would leave many a comic book lovers giddy with delight, most larger stages present what is known as a 'transition', in these transitions the player is able to use a strong knock-back attack that can blow their opponents through walls and other crazy devices that take you from one background scenario to another, Metropolis I believe being the prime example as the entire stage is actually broken up into three parts of the city, these actually flow surprisingly well without any frames dropping on you.

Sound -  We'll go ahead and start this off with the games soundtrack, it's credited for two as there are various artist that play actual songs that were either made or based around the game, the other is an orchestrated set list that matches the gritty and desperate tone of the game, it's great background noise for when you're trying to relax or you're on the great forums here of Vizzed!

Now lets jump into the real thick of the sound department, NetherRealm really pulled it together when they were making this game, the voice casting is either original actors from their respective animated series, or people who sound nearly identical to the personalities that they were portraying, it really brought out quirks of the DC universe that we've come to love, be the humor between Green Lantern and Green Arrow, or the special clash between characters like Superman and Lex Luthor, one thing I really-really loved about this game was the fact it was synced up properly to the mouth movements of all the characters.

Amid combat the background scenes are cluttered with heroes and villains battling it out on a war torn alternate Earth that will be slightly covered in our story telling segment, but this does not disrupt the noises that the immediate background of interactibles pose, there was a certain degree of care from the sound department the day they decided to record all the different sound effects for combat animations, as punches pack a meaty wallop to the ear drums while you're kicking in peoples teeth, from lasers, to guns and the norm of the DC universe everything is spot on and just like you'd hope to see in a video game based on your favorite characters.

Addictiveness - I don't usually include this section into my reviews but since my reviews will now specifically be for Vizzed, I will use this segment to talk about the overall niche that keeps you coming back in a fighting game, the multi-player.

There is a profound sense of tension and pride when going up against other players globally with your favorite elected hero/villain, it becomes a battle of wits and skill to see who can overcome the other first and get a lead early in the round on health, the feeling of immersion is bare but still present as it feels like you're living out your childhood dream of being in a comic book and ripping through the streets with super powered combative martial arts and brutality.

There is in fact a ranking system that goes mostly be levels all the way in to the upper 100s, each level can grant you access cards, which you can use to unlock different alternate world costumes, or just concept art of pre-character outfit stages and the like, or some levels will present you with special icons/display photos/backgrounds to use to make your player card stand out from the rest of the characters, these can also be unlocked via combat prerequisites that you gradually gain over time.

The net code for this game is about average, which means with the right internet connection you shouldn't have any problems with lagging mid-combat, unless you're playing with a friend who has a closed router, otherwise all is right as rain with the match-making system that i've experienced in this game, it's kept me playing well past the point of some other fighting games.

Story - Normally in a game like this I would have nary a notion as what to say, but thankfully Injustice does something that not many other fighting games have ever done, it actually tries to tell a decent story based on the characters that fill it's roster, it starts off like your average Justice League episode with a gathering of heroes fighting the slew of super villains that have banded together, this spans from ground battles all the way up into the Justice League Watch Tower, time goes on and they eventually find out that The Clown Prince of Darkness is at it again only this time he means business, a comic book series released along side the game to fill in the gaps that the games story had, but for player purposes we didn't really mind not knowing the whole story, Joker got his hands on a nuclear device that would wipe out Metropolis as a whole, after some events occur that I shall not spoil, we end up in yet another alternate Earth where the Joker was fooled Superman and forced him destroy all that ever it was that made him human.

So begins a war between not only heroes, but villains in the fight between what is considered right and what is considered wrong, it's up to first realm rosters to battle their alternate versions in the dystopian realm to free the human race from being enslaved by the super powers that be.

It really is quite the treat for a super hero based game, I think most comic book fans will happily appreciate the care that NetherRealm and DC have partnered with to create.

Gameplay -  If you've played any of Mortal Kombat 9 you'll vaguely know how similar the combat style is, there is in fact a practice mode that you can either play alone, or with a friend online to infinitely practice combos and chaining together some flashy and brutal moves that sure to pack a wallop, the games mechanics are broken down into strong and light attacks that can be mixed for hard hitting effect, or partnered with your respective characters super powers to create an interesting dynamic to chaining together juggles, wall bounces and other forms of fighting game lingo, it's all here in one way or another for fans of the fighting genre, be it the wall transitions, or powerful grab attacks, or the endless combos that drive you into a satisfying victory if you can pull off that 90% health beat down.

While we're on the subject of the fighting mechanics, I should mention the AWESOME super specials that you can pull off with a maxed out bar, which allowed you to do an extremely flashy albeit a bit silly at times ultra combo, which can allow for things like Superman yanking his enemy into space and then hurdling him back down to Earth with a brutal hammer fist, or General Zod yanking his opponent up through the moon, only to yank him back through the other side and hurdling down towards the Earth, the game really can be a bit larger than life with these flashy move sets.

That said, there is only one ultra move per character and after seeing them for the billionth time after countless matches of story/online play, the 'ooouuh, ahhhh' factor begins to grow old and stale, making it a shame that they never introduced a secondary ultra in post updates or DLC that would've been bundled with this edition.

Apart from supers, you can actually use your meter to enhance the damage on your combos allowing for some jaw shattering attacks that'll leave your opponent on the defensive, this meter burn can also be used to enhance your super powers actually changing the animations from a few frames into an extended four-to-five second long attack that can leave a stunned moment of opportunity to open wide with the fists and feet of fury!

The circle button is also a host to some pretty special moves that vary from character to character, allowing things for like electronic bats for Batman that can force an enemy to defend while he's trying to attack, or bringing out a mirror minion with Zod to grab and control the enemy for a short duration so you can get in close to chain a combo off of.

Lets cover some of the things like interactables, which are items set around the stage that with the simple press of the R1 button you can throw giant objects are your enemy for some massive damage, depending on the character and their size it can have varied effects, like a car that would be thrown by super man with ease, would actually be detonated by Batman with some sort of sticky bomb, it's things like these that can be a real game changer/saver if you need some last minute hard pushes, or quick escapes from your enemy.

On character neutrality, there have been cries from some players that characters like Death Stroke, or Superman are supposedly horrendously broken, but this actually isn't the case if you know the proper characters and moves to combat those said players, these characters I mentioned in example are in fact extremely hard to properly master, regardless of some of their easier opening attacks.

In the end it really comes down to mastering your craft as a fighting styled player, if you don't want to devote that kind of time to fighting others online, there will always be something to do in one of the many various single player modes, the story, or even just messing around with friends and family in some friendly competitive multi-player!

Customization - Now this is very select and limited in terms of true customization, as it really just comes down to what kind of costume you want to wear, this is really a part of where the love letter comes into play however, as costumes from some of the most beloved iterations on the roster have been implemented for universal use between single and multi-player helping further drive that carbon copy apart from player to player, some of these can only be painfully unlocked however by playing their free mobile game on smart devices like Android, or iPhone, this wouldn't be a major issue only not every player has a smart phone these days still, nor do they want to play the crappy mobile game just to grind their way up to a costume.

With that having been said, I really like the choice between costumes that this game bundles in together from all the DLC, some of these also come in the form of extra player cards and backgrounds for flashy multi-player individuality.

Difficulty - Another category that is Vizzed exclusive, this will be extremely brief as the difficulty isn't really what's important in a game like this, you get the usual gradual curve of difficulty as you progress in the arcade mode where it almost begins to feel like the AI are cheating you in some way or another, but this type of game really is about just sitting down and mastering the craft over a weeks duration of off and on playing, experimenting on what combos work and what doesn't, it really helps to have a friend for this kind of thing to speed the process along, but regardless the game hands you some mighty fine tools to help you hone your craft.

Overall Value - A fighting game like this is unique in the sense that it tries to be more than the others on the market of it's kind, in some ways it fell in on itself for trying to be more than advancements have allowed, but for the type of game it is and the type of market it was reaching out to, i'd say it's a must buy for fighting fans and comic fans alike, given that this is the ultimate edition and includes all the costume DLC and extra character DLC? It's quite a value for the level of replay-ability.

Thanks for reading this review, game on!

Perfect review it is a great length and has really really great details. The wording is easy to read and I didn't notice and grammar issues.Nicely said and done. Also great format and awesomely played out. Now I want to go play the game. (too bad I don't have a PS3) Keep making reviews and I hope to see a lot more in the future.
