Kirby is back once again to save dreamland from the nightmares.

Story: 8
The story is very similar to other Kirby games. It is a peaceful day in Dreamland. Kirby and some of his friends are fishing. Suddenly, the rings around Dreamland shatter. The sky turns dark it appears that Dark matter is back to wreck havoc on Dreamland. Dark Matter starts to posses some of the residents. King Dedede, is one of the first to be possessed along with other residents who are normally friendly. Why has dark matter returned after being defeated several times in the past by Kirby?. Kirby and his friends head out to collect the shattered rings to restore Dreamland, and to liberate the possessed residents. The heroes find it is going to take a lot more to vanish the nightmares this time than it has in the past. Okay, the plot was nicely told and nicely done. However, the thing is this is the same plot used in Kirby games. So, while the plot was good it really did not offer anything new to the series. For those that do not know. The nightmares possessed victims in Kirby's Adventure and Kirby's dreamland 2. I was hoping they would have come up with something different. I wonder if Hal Labs was just trying to get this game on the market and didn't really consider they had used that plot twice? Certain Video games have reoccurring plots. For example, Mega Man games either have Wily or Sigma trying to take over the world. In the Mario games it is Bowser. However, those games the bad guys have new ways of trying to get their goals. In this game Dark Matter is back to possessing people and its the same way he does it in other Kirby games. Thus, since this plot was the same as other games I had a hard time rating it higher. But do not get me wrong it is still a good plot just nothing new.

Graphics: 9
The graphics in this game were pretty good. I really liked the backgrounds in this game. The ice stages really sparkle and are shiny just like a winter level should be. The ocean levels were nicely done the way the trees, flowers, and water moves really shows how great the Super Nintendo really was. However, the only thing is the graphics look like this was an artists theme. Here is what I mean. Some of the levels look like they were colored in as in a coloring book. I do not know if Hal Labs meant for it to look that way or what? Do not get me wrong it looks very nice. I guess I was just expecting really good graphics like Mega Man X games, Mario SNES games and even Donkey Kong. The controls for the most part were very smooth. I really liked how the controls had improved from the Dreamland's Game Boy games. Kirby does not feel sluggish at all. The sprints in this game were also nicely done. The bad guys sprints when they attack are very good even better than the Game Boy ones, which I would expect this being a 16 bit system. Some of the bad guy's sprints even show them making faces when they hit you which is kind of funny. So aside from the coloring book graphics. Kirby's Dreamland 3 really had good graphics.

Sound: 10.
The sound was very good in this game. In fact, it was so much improved from Dreamland 1 and 2. I really liked how this game had a very diverse soundtrack. The music I found to be very relaxing and fitting the world's themes very nicely. The forest, water and ice themes are my favorite. Even the boss battles had a good sound to them. I really like how each animal friend has a different sound depending on the special power the player has. My favorite is the sound that the cat makes when he has Kirby it is priceless. I also like how the special powers sound, it really lets the player know there weapon is going to cause pain to the enemies. Speaking of enemies the enemies really have good sounds some make loud thuds when they are running, and others have special sounds. I also like the sound when Kirby gets hit, it is like he is saying ow. Moreover, it would not be a Kirby game if we did not have the infamous death sound Kirby makes when he loses all of his health bars. I still think that is funny. I compared the sound track to other Kirby games I can only think of two Kirby games that rival this one's sound. The two games that rival Kirby's Dreamland 3's sound are Kirby's Adventure and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Those three games had the best soundtracks of any Kirby game. I will o on to say they should be how Kirby games are supposed to sound. Thus I give Dreamland 3's sound a perfect 10.

Addictiveness: 9
Kirby's Dreamland 3 has a high replay value. I rank this up there with two other Kirby games in their replay value. I think this game is up there with Kirby's Adventure and The Amazing Mirror when it comes to replay value. I often find myself playing this one a lot. The only thing that keeps this one from getting a perfect rating is the plot. Sometimes it just feels like the same old thing when playing Kirby games especially when nothing has really changed in how the evil force is trying to take over Dreamland. But, that is very minor and like I said I enjoy playing this game. I have played it several times since I first got it.

Depth: 10
The game really shines on depth there is a lot going on in this game. First of all, every stage has a mini quest the player needs to complete to get a shattered ring. If the player does not complete the quests in each stage the player can still go to the next world. Not completing the quests means you will not get the shattered ring that is needed to get the correct ending of this game. In addition, a lot of the quests will require searching every area of a stage or solving puzzles. Players may need to revisit stages to complete the quests. As with most Kirby games there are lot of items to collect. Dreamland 3 also has a lot of special powers in it. Most of the same powers that were in Kirby's Adventure can also be acquired here (Note a few special powers in Kirby's Adventure are not in this game, but the main ones are). Moreover, the levels in this game are really long each world has 5-7 stages in it. The game is going to take a while to beat to get 100%. Thankfully, Hal Labs keeps track of your progress so you do not have to start over. To sum it up Dreamland 3 had a lot going on it. I really like and I am used to games that have a lot of depth. I was glad to see Dreamland 3 have Depth. Some of the great Kirby games shine on their depth. Thus, I give the depth rating a perfect score.

Difficulty: 6
If Dreamland 3 suffers in anyway it is its difficulty. This game does have some tricky spots in it. For example, the enemy placement in this game can be a problem. Enemies can hit you from behind, gang up on you or even corner you. Also some enemies do drop out of the sky so it is easy to get knocked into a pit. The enemy placement did cause me to lose a few lives in this game a few times. Another thing that adds to the difficulty is certain animal allies can only be used to get the special items. Some levels will require you to bring a certain animal friend to complete the quests. Then there are puzzles to solve some of them can be tricky to solve to get the special items. However, this game was really not that bad. The bosses in this game are pretty easy. I think I only died a few times facing the final boss. I was kind of expecting more while fighting the bosses. I did mention that enemy placement got me and will probably get the players a few times. But they do give you special powers to get yourself out of a jam. Even if you do find yourself cornered by enemies, there is a good chance one of the enemies can give you a special power. Also the game is very good on giving you a chance of extra lives so even if you do die, you can usually get the lost life back. The difficulty in this game is better than the other dreamland games, but it is not like Kirby's Adventure or even the Amazing Mirror. I was really hoping this game would be more of a challenge. If you have read my other reviews, you know that I like a game that challenges you. Yes, this game does test your skills and creativity at solving the puzzles. But when it comes to boss fights not so much. Thus, I give Dreamland 3 a decent middle of the road rating of 6 out of 10.

Overall: 9.2
I really liked this game. I got this game at a game store that was wanting to get rid of their Super Nintendo games. I saw this one and I thought this looks like a fun game to play. I had played over Kirby games and I do like to play Kirby games. I was glad I picked up this game I really enjoyed it. The game has good graphics, good sound and huge depth. I later learned that this game I think was released in 1997 or 1998. I made reference to I wonder if the game might have been rushed out. Here is why, when this game came out the Super Nintendo was being replaced by the new Nintendo 64. The Super Nintendo was also competing with the Sony Play Station. The Super Nintendo was at the end of its amazing run. In fact, Dreamland 3 was one of the last major hits on that system the other games that were major hits, when the SNES was past its peak, were Mega Man X3 and Donkey Kong 3. I can also make a good argument that if anybody out there owns the game it should be a collector's item, since it was one of the last hits on the SNES. So Hal had good reasons to hurry up with this game to get it out. Still, despite the coloring book graphics at times. This game had very high quality. I really like to play this game. Even today I still play this game. It is in my top 3 of favorite Kirby games, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, and Kirby's Adventure, are my other two favorite Kirby games. As far as recommending this game. By all means I recommend this game. It is a fun game and it has that good quality that Kirby games should have. The negatives I mentioned in this game are very minor. Thus, Dreamland 3 gets a good rating of 9.2. Hope you take the time to play this game you will not be disappointed.
