TITLE: RESCUE THE EMBASSY MISSION SYSTEM:NES REVIEW BY GOLGO 14

                                                                                                                                           8-BIT PATROIT***

(GOLGO 14 SUDDENLY RECEIVES THE FOLLOWING EMERGENCY MESSAGE....) ATTENTION!! We have a situation that has

escalated in the last twenty four hours. At approximately seventeen hundred hours our Embassy was overrun by what our

intel can best describe as an unknown eight bit terrorist organization that hit us hard and have eliminated all of our

security..I also regret to inform you that they've started taking hostages and if they're demands aren't met soon.. they are

going to start to EXECUTING THEM ONE BY ONE.This leaves no time for negotiation.Golgo 14 ,you're country needs you

more than ever as you and a team I have waiting for you will only have one crack at this..so do you're best..and above all

stay frosty ! Captain out..
(END OF TRANSMISSION)

the following recording accounts the real life 8-bit actions Golgo 14 and his brave team underwent..

(GOLGO 14)"As you can see on our map, the Embassy is in the center and I need three snipers to take point to cover our infiltration...Mike, I need you to

take northeast..Steve you take the west point..when all of you are in position I will send in Ron, Dick and Kemco to infiltrate from the rooftops and rappel

to smash through the windows"(MIKE)" How many tangos are located inside?"(GOLGO 14)" I count fourteen on multiple floors" (MIKE)" Roger that

Golgo"(GOLGO 14) "Mike, you're our stealthiest guy, I need you to go the farthest and sneak by all those nasty search lights so you are going to have to

depart immediately "(MIKE)" I'm on it!(GOLGO 14)"We only got twenty minutes guys, let's rock this!(EVERYONE)"OORAHH!"(MIKE)"I'm almost

half way there...woah.(GOLGO 14)"Mike? are you there? (MIKE) " ..Close one, man.. I had to dive behind these bushes in the west corner..almost

there '(KEMCO)"C'mon bro"(GOLGO 14)"You've got forty seconds Mike..push it.." (MIKE)"In position." (GOLGO 14)"Roger that...Steve you're up!"

(STEVE)"Gone like the wind!".(STEVE)"In position." (GOLGO 14)"Kemco move now! (KEMCO)"Moving!(RON)"You can do this Kemco..but do this

quick so we can make happy hour,I'm getting thirsty..(KEMCO)"Ron.." (RON) "Yeah buddy?"(KEMCO)" I was gonna tell you this sooner, but I need you

to know.."(RON)"What is it Kemco?" (KEMCO)"I'm gonna be a father." (RON)"Oh my, ..well nice timing ol' buddy!(GOLGO 14)"Focus Kemco, how

much longer?"(KEMCO)"Thirty seconds..I'm behind the doorway quarter of a block away ..wait for the lights...wait for it..Ok I'm moving ..almost th..".

(MACHINE GUN SOUNDS) (RON)"Kemco! Kemco!(GOLGO 14 )"He's gone..we've been compromised everyone , go, go , go!"(GLASS SMASHES

FOLLOWED BY NON STOP GUNFIRE)(GOLGO 14)"I'm inside, took down three Tangos..(STEVE)"Behind you Golgo..got him Tango Down!"(GOLGO

14)"Moving below to the second floor"(GUNFIRE)(DICK)"Golgo, there are eight Tangos in the room to your west, it looks like the hostag(GUNFIRE)

(RON)"Noooo! they got Dick!"(GOLGO 14)I'm outside the room , Ron.do you still got eyes..?(RON)"I can't get a shot..too many innocents in the way..oh

no ..Golgo."(GOLGO 14)"What?"(RON)"They are lining the hostages up against the wa"(GOLGO 14)"No time..breaching NOW!"

(GUNFIRE,SCREAMING)(RON)"Golgo?"(DICK)"Golgo? Are you there?(RON)"I can't see anything..too much smoke..(DICK)"There he is ! Coming out

the front with the hostages..but he's shot up pretty bad, I'm going down to them now'..(RON)" Rest in peace my fallen brothers'.(GOLGO 14)"Their lives

saved many."

GRAPHICS: 8/10 The graphics for Rescue:The Embassy Mission are presented with well drawn sprites with some neat little touches of animation like the

way you dive behind cover to avoid searchlights is quite smooth or the way you roll out of the way underneath the searchlights looks convincing. The walking

animation though, looks a little bit stiff and in fact, other than when you have to rappel there is mostly just static images that represent the other gameplay

features. The colors are a lot of crushed blues and grays with some green and brown colorization matching the dark militant tone the developers were after and

overall the graphics reflect a clean style and mostly everything is very easy to distinguish.

SOUND: 7/10 The music in Rescue:TEM works perfectly here. When you turn the game on a dark thumping catchy synth track sets the tone right away and

seems very fitting for the events about to unfold. When you start playing the stealth sequence the music will vary based on your actions. When you are on the

move the music kicks in all of it's catchy synth sounds and when you're hiding behind a bush or behind a doorway the synth sounds are slightly reduced

enhancing that stealthy mood. When you breach the Embassy the music gets really intense and fits the climatic sequence of the game. The sound effects

themselves are rather generic and you're machine gun kinda sounds like a lawn sprinkler and it would be nice to hear some of the terrorists let out some cries

but for the most part the effects are adequate.

ADDICTIVENESS: 8.5/10 .The gameplay is broken down into four different sequences.First, you have to get past the enemy search lights in a side scrolling

stealth sequence using three different(though identical)characters named Mike, Steve and Jumbo. Each one of these characters will have to travel further than

the last one to reach their own vantage point of the Embassy and help wipe out the terrorists quicker during the final sequence. The second sequence involves

rappelling down the side of a designated spot on the Embassy then when you are right at the window and all of you're snipers are in place you can prepare

for the 3rd sequence, some good ol' sniping which works really well here which brings us to the final sequence I like to call the raid. When you smash through

the window from the outside the perspective switches to a first person perspective with a handy map displaying the amount of enemies that are on each

floor and what rooms they're in.Depending on the amount of enemies you were able to wipe out from you're sniper points you will increase or decrease the

amount of enemies you have left inside as you try to rescue the hostages. The control takes some getting used to (especially the stealth sequence) but once

you get the hang of all the mechanics you realize you're having a lot of fun with Rescue:TEM and to me that's everything.

STORY : 7/10 The story is pretty simple wherein a bunch of terrorists take over the Embassy and only you and your band of merry men are tasked with

stopping them.I say merry men because with names like "Jumbo" and "Kemco"(Ha! that's the developer!) how can they not be?.Seriously though, I love that

a mature realistic sort of 8-bit Tom Clancy type plot even exists on NES at all .The story is really an excuse for you to be part of a great action set and

to me that's very good!

DEPTH: 5/10 You can complete Rescue:TEM in like 10 minutes. What keeps this game from receiving a lower score in this department is the opportunity to

adjust the difficulty that can significantly extend you're time with it. As it is though, once you have mastered the whole set up and execute you're mission on

the highest difficulty what remains is really not much at all.

CHALLENGE: 8/10 If you play this game on the highest difficulty like mentioned above it will extend you're enjoyment and proves to be very tough as the

searchlights in the opening sequence alone move more erratically and quicker than ever, plus you have to travel much further than you would playing on a

lower difficulty. The challenge lies with perfecting each sequence without losing any of your team members to maximize your chances at the end which of

course is excellent and should prove challenging for intermediate players.

CONCLUSION: Though Rescue:TEM is painfully short, it is a title any fan of modern day tactical first person shooters should respect and give a go

because the execution of this game was ahead of it's time and without this game I'm not sure we would have the games we have today and that alone speaks

volumes!

Nice job on this review man, you really broke it down and went into great detail with it, you also categorized it which makes it more organized. One thing I will say though, the font is a little hard to read in the introduction and since there is so much of it close together, I think it would help to space it out a little bit. It is an easy fix though. Other than that though, an amazing job, you are doing great with these reviews man and I am glad to see you are still making them so frequently.

Overall, keep up the great work and keep making more awesome reviews. You are only getting better and better and you are really showing the true extent of your potential. I look forward to reading your next review!
