Hello and welcome to the first CD Sailor Moon Game!"Sailor Moon Collection" This game came out in 1994,during the second season of Sailor Moon,Sailor Moon R. Now lets head to the review!
Game-play - Basically, this is a minigame collection, and when you win (or lose sometimes) you get a random cutscene! Even some of them are cut-scenes of the attacks and transformations of them from the show! But there are five mini-games.
Mercury's Questionnaire - This mini-game is!.... Really hard to understand if you do not know katakana. This game is a quiz game where you have a question and you have 3 answers and a time limit to answer them. However, since I do not know Japanese or katakana, this mini-game is impossible to go through, even when you lose in level 1 and 2, you get no cut-scene. Thankfully,we have the save state/load state features! In order to get a cut-scene,you need to have at least been to level 3.
Mars's Dress Up - This mini-game is very easy, this game is like simon, there are 4 outfits, you use each direction of the arrow keys (or D-Pad) to wear the outfit, the mini-game will tell you which outfit to wear, and then a pattern starts, this mini-game was alot of fun, but you need to have alot of patience to follow the pattern, you can get cut-scenes if you lose, but you will definitely get a cut-scene if you are at least on the second row.
Jupiter's Butt Battle! - Its not what you think,it is not like Dead or Alive X-Treme Volleyball. Basically, you fight one of the other sailors while playing as Jupiter, you use the Right arrow key to push your butt in to try to hit them off the platform, and the left arrow to try to prevent them, but be careful! pressing the left arrow too long can make you fall off the platform yourself! Get them off the platform three times and you win! This game was very fun, but it is difficult trying to get one of the sailors off the platform. If you lose you can get a cut-scene, but it is a guarantee you will get a cut-scene if you win.
Venus's Rock Paper Scissor Showdown! - Like Jupiter's Mini-Game, you choose one of the Sailors while you play as Sailor Venus, for some reason, Jupiter seems to be the strongest, and can beat you in almost an INSTANT. Basically, its a game of luck, when you press the I button (the 1st button) to stop the wheel and if you get the better hand say scissors over paper you hit them, you have a 5 heart gauge, and when you get a tie, your attack gets one heart stronger using one of your normal moves like Venus Love Me Chain! Run out the other Sailor's heart gauge and you win! This game was my favorite out of all of them, it was so much fun. Again,if you lose you might get a cut scene, but you will definitely get one if you win.
Moon's Red or White Flags - In this game, you use your 1 and 4 buttons to use the red or white flag, 1 is red, 4 is white. however, she says which one you should put up,and if you don't know how to speak Japanese, this game is unplayable. if you get a number of questions right, you get a cut-scene.
Phew! Now that were done with game-play, lets go to the other categories.
Graphics - This game's graphics are like the SNES graphics, the cut-scenes are very pretty and colorful, and at times, they even move the characters bodies while sledding and waving and talking! (Yes,I am impressed by mouths moving, but please remind yourself that this is a game from 1994) however, their are times where the background just feels rushed, but overall,it is impressive.
Sound - Holy cow, sound. And I am not talking about the music, besides the title screen music, the rest is generic and not very memorable, but if its so generic, why would I give it a 9? It is because of voice acting. They voiced almost everything from this game, the only thing they didn't was instructions. But all the cut-scenes are fully voiced, and with the mouth moving, it feels like I am watching a real cut-scene from the show!
Addictiveness - You will most likely play this game again if you are a completionist (like me) and want every cut-scene from this game, but if you don't, then you mostly just play this game for about 1 hour and your done playing.
Depth - There is alot of cut-scenes you can unlock from this game, and when you go to Chibusa's or Rini's
selection, you can re-watch the cut-scenes you have unlocked. So their is alot of depth if you count that.
Difficulty - While I did say it before, I am just going to summarize it. Mercury = Unplayable if you do not know how to read katakana. Mars = Very fun but you need to have patience and memory skills. Jupiter = Difficult to predict. Venus = Based on luck. Moon = Unplayable if you do not know Japanese.
So how did you like my review format, did I do good at explaining the game? This took alot of time to type but it was worth it,happy gaming!
