Wii Sports Resort is a masterpiece that throws repeated waves of fun at you and other people around you.Its exciting games, beautiful colors, and fluent control really make this one great classic for the Wii and will always be remembered.
Graphics: 8
The 3D models in the game are very colorful and realistic, however some models such as the Miis could've been done better. Most people would like to see their characters have arms and legs all the times instead of sometimes because it can feel weird to be floating as a blob with a head and floating spheres as hands. But, for the most part, the graphics are beautiful and very detailed, for example, the sea is colored quite nicely and does not appear to be pixelated or very bland. Another great example are the cabins that you find when flying around the island. If you can get close enough, you can clearly identify that they are made of wood because of their textures and because you can find gaps that separate the wall into individual planks. The ducks on the pond look very cute and adorable, like you want to play with them. I would say the same for the dogs, too.Overall, the graphics are mostly well-done, they show the true graphical capabilities if the Nintendo Wii.
Sound: 10
The music track in this video game is very catchy and nice and suits the word "Resort" perfectly. Just by listening to the music, you can get the sense that you are on a tropical island, lying on a beach while feeling the waves hit your feet. The music is extremely enjoyable, and it makes you feel happy and gives you a sense of joy. Especially the hidden music in this game; for instance, when you are near the Cabana Lagoon, if you cut off the engine, you can hear someone in the lagoon playing a guitar version of the title screen theme.
The sound effects are very realistic, such as the noise of splashing water you hear when you are canoeing, the sound of your sword slicing through a fruit, a candle or even a machine, and the sound of a the ping pong ball bouncing on the table. To sum it all up, the music tracks are excellent, and the sound effects are realistic and clear.
Addictiveness and Depth: 10
The level of addictiveness is extremely high. The activities you do in this game are very fun because there is always so much to complete and so much to do, because of that, they can really make you want to play this 24/7.
For example, in Island Flyover, there are a whopping 80 I points to collect and an even higher number of balloons to pop, plus two islands and everything in between to explore. Every time you play, you only get five minutes, so you need to play a lot to collect all I points and pop all balloons. Another reason why it is so addictive is because of how many mini games there are to play. There are 12 mini games with a lot of different modes, so it counts as more than 15 mini games; and half of them are multiplayer!
The multiplayer is a great addition to this game. You can try to shoot down your friend in dogfight, or you can all work as a team in canoeing or cycling.
In a nutshell, the huge depth of this game makes it very addictive and fun to play. You may spend hours playing this.
Story: (Blank)
There is no story to this game however in the introduction, we see a random Mii from the Mii Channel skydive down to Wuhu Island, where all 12 mini games take place; insisting that the Miis are taking a vacation. There are also some back stories to some I point areas. For instance, the Mysterious Ruins' description says that the ruins may have been built to scare of thieves. In conclusion, there is no story but there are mini stories about certain I point areas.
Difficulty: 5 (May Vary)
The difficulty in this game may vary because it depends on how much you exercise. If you exercise often, this game will be a breeze. If you are inactive or have stubby arms, this may be difficult. The mini games aren't generally hard, they just require some skill. However, sometimes they can?exaggerate?the feeling; such as when you are playing canoeing, sometimes in order to finish the race, you must move you arms so fast until they feel so stiff and uncomfortable that you feel like they will fall off at any time.
However, the controls are very fluent and accurate, so you cannot say that the controls are horrible.
Summary
This game is truly great. With amazing, colorful graphics, enjoyable music, life like sound effects, high level of addictiveness, interesting back stories and introduction, 12 mini games and multiplayer, and average difficulty, this game is awesome. This is certainly a must have game for the Wii and even if you don't agree with me we can all agree on one thing: This will always be remembered.
