So my mom is in the states and I ask her to buy Either Call Of Duty Ghosts or Assassin's Creed Black Flags for me . She said no to Assassin's Creed because it had the word " Assassin " it in . She said no to Ghosts because she thought it wasn't teenager friendly. Yeah I know it has shooting and knifing and stuff like that and I have watched the review and to be honest it isn't KID friendly but it doesn't look THAT bad for teens . I mean if we play Grand Theft and other games like that then what is so bad about performing Government Ghost Operations ? I mean its practically a soldier simulation game . Whats so bad about it ?

There is very little violently bad about Call of Duty: Ghosts. Over here in the UK it is rated PEGI 16+ so yes it may not be made for 14 year olds but the content is mild anyway. There is less blood than most Call of Duty games and instead of the gory Zombies mode there is a game mode called extinction. They are quite similar concept wise but there is less graphic content in extinction and it is less traumatic and frightening. 
There is a lot more bad in GTA if you play that. Over here it is rated 18+. I mean there are strip clubs, extreme gore like the torture scene in GTA 5. How are you allowed to play games like that and not Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty. Ghosts should be fine! Though I recommend Assassin's Creed... I am just too mad at CoD at the moment!

From a veteran player of CoD since the first one all of the CoD games look like they have violence enough to only give it a T rating. The violence is pretty much as bad as the second CoD game. To me the M rating was only gotten because of some of the cutscenes and cursing in the game. So to me it is 14 year old friendly. Frick, a E for everyone rated game can be more gruesome or just down right creepy than CoD.  

Does your mom really let you play GTA-games? But not CoD? Maybe she should try the games herself.

To be honest, when my little bro was 14 I told my mom not to let him play GTA but Cod was fine with me.

Call of Duty is fine for a 14 year old. My parents aer kind of strict about what movies I can watch and what games I can play, but I have been playing COD since I was 11. There is little cursing, no sexual content, and violence, but the violence isn't even that bad. GTA is worse than COD.

Mr. Zed- I would say it isn't suitable for 14 year olds, because of the language it uses. As for the shooting and such, I've only seen trailers, and it seems alright compared to other games. In the end, I'm sorry, but I have to agree with her. :

About the language thing, by now 14 year olds would learn that curses are pretty much words that shouldn't be used. So the language thing is fine. Well, it is fine as long as the parents actually teach kids that curses are things that really should not be used.

I guess it's ok for a fourteen year old but it does kind of mater because if you're not mature then you might be saying a little bit more bad words like my friend did when Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 first came out. He started to shout more and say a bit more bad words (to the point he acted like a ten year old) which made me not talk to him for awhile (just until he got whatever problem he had during that time sorted out). I would like to say that maybe it wasn't just MW2 that made him act more immature so to answer your question I'll have to say "It's ok as long you know the game isn't real and such". Who am I kidding? Everyone knows games aren't real. So yeah it's ok.

Brigand :  I just meant that here in Jamaica almost EVERY teen my age or older who has a Xbox , Ps1,23,or4 has or is going to get GTA5 . I don't have ... but I did play True Crime once ... no cursing or nudity in that and I still played it . And I have enough sense to mute or turn down cutscences with bad words . ANd Beside ... IN JAMAICA YOU CAN'T GO ONE DAY WITHOUT HEARING A BAD WORD so I don't see what the big deal is . I ignore the ones I hear in real life and I'll ignore the ones in the game . And I do not mean Jamaica is like a ghetto or slum its just that kids here are a bit immature

fablefire : While that is true, it's also true that many parents don't like their kids being exposed to that stuff, and I know I wouldn't either. I don't even like exposing myself to that stuff, so for me it doesn't have anything to do with maturity or age. I just hate swearing, and it often carries a negative vibe with it. I try to keep a more upbeat and happy mood in my house than that.

Now before anyone gets offended by that, I'm not down on anyone that talks like that, or likes movies or games with it in it or anything. I just can't stand it myself. I have to hear that too much when I'm outside of my house, I don't want to bring it into my household entertainment as well.

I'll give you some advice, don't buy either game since they are both awful and generic franchises by now and COD always ha been and they have no real skill level to beat them. Stick with Nintendo based games particularly from the mega man, metroid, zelda, castlevania, ninja gaiden series and you'll have a bette rand more rewarding time.

Call of Duty in general is violent and intense, which already isn't that good for a kid. More so, the games are all copies off of the other games.

If you want a Call of Duty game, get Black Ops and Modern Warfare, you'll never need any other games in the series. They are fun games with an actual direction, the best in the series.

But really, the advice to stick to Nintendo isn't a good idea, there's so many other games out there like Bioshock, Skyrim, or Grand Theft Auto V that will give you some of the most enjoyable things ever.

And try out Sony, their games are the best. With games like Uncharted, Killzone, InFAMOUS, Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid 4, you'll never run out of enjoyment.

The violence and swearing isn't going to affect you, it's just a game, so it doesn't matter.

alexanyways : Thank for  your opnion But I have only played ONE Call of Duty Game and it wasn't even mine . World At War . Wasn't bad and I liked it So COD Ghosts with Space and Underwater missions , and you can play as a dog seems good to me anyways . But then again I am not a type ofperson who sits down and analizes a video game while they play it . I am one of those crazy guys who just like to go out , get a video game , and shoot some stuff Short sweeet and to the point .


UFC : I haven't really played or showed interest in p;laying any of the games you just mentioned . I prefer the newer ones with advanced options and stuff . Sure they are all good games and good recommendations but I kinda like to .. as I said before .. " Shoot Em Up " Like in Doom64 . Now THAT  ..... I will play

Eirinn : I can see from your perspective and you are right Why would I want to bring such a volgour use of language into my house ? Cuz I get to shoot stuff . Not a GOOD reason but I am not going to pay ANY attention to the bad language .. I'll mute . And for guys like me who don't want to ACTUALLY join the army and put our lives on the line with a great possibility of death ..... but we like to ACT like we do it .... Video games help Plus I a 14 so I tend to think in a ... somewhat endocrine and testosterone charged way than you adults who have fully matured and have not as much fun as we teens . And I am sure you have ALOT of fun and stuff... but not as much as ... well .. me . Anywho :

Fair enough. It's all a matter of opinion, and to be quite honest, I'm glad that not everyone sees it the way I do. If they did, the video game industry would become stale, with no new games, and though I don't think it's very creative now, we at least get the occasional unique idea still. So...yeah, good to hear there are differences of opinion out there.

Your mom sounds like someone I once who never let you have girls over because you were either too young or too old. CoD Ghosts is about as unrealistic as a "realistic" game can get. I played GTA Vice City when I was 6, CoD2 when I was 8, and Assassin's Creed when I was 11. I'm above average intelligence, A and B honor roll at lowest, and I wouldn't hurt a fly. No, CoD isn't kid friendly, but if a 14 year old can't handle it, then they have bigger issues than finding games to play

No, it is not aimed at teens. But they are still unarguably fun to play.
There have been gigantic debates about this topic, some even going to court.

But to me, who cares if they're "appropriate"?
