Twinleaf Academy - Chapter Two:
Each School Year has its Charms
My adoptive mother, Johanna Berlitz, drove me over to the school where my next adventures would begin.I was cheerful and looking forward to it. That was until the huge "NO!" we received at the gate. "No?" said my mom. "Why not? Courtney has been looking forward to this for a month! You can't not let her in now. Poor thing. Especially after what she's had to go through recently." The security guard looked sorry. "I apologize, ma'am..." he started. "But students have to be at least twelve years old to enter." Before she could start an argument, I poked her shoulder. She turned to me. "It's alright, Mom. I can wait. It'll only be a couple of years." Then we just stood there for a moment. She gave the security guard an angry stare, and we headed home. The next two years of my new life in Sinnoh were not as good as those in Kalos, but they weren't bad either. I've decided to go meet and become friends with kids my age in Twinleaf Town. My closest friend since Charles would probably be Dylan, my new next-door neighbor. The winters weren't as snowy, and the memories weren't as precious, but Dylan was a kind, sympathetic young lad, who supported me through those two years. He stuck with me through thick and thin, and he told me that he also planned to go to Twinleaf Academy when he was ready. The brunet was just as enthusiastic as I was, if not more. Finally, after a two-year wait, we were old enough to attend. I still have a quite vivid memory of how excited I was as the silver gates were opening. I waved my parents goodbye, and dashed off deeper into the campus with Dylan, anxious to explore the place. After all students arrived, we were told our room numbers, where we would go and find our roommates, who we hoped we would like, for we would have to bear with them for the rest of the year. I looked at my key, and the number on it. "Thirty-six.... room thirty-six... must be on the last floor." I grabbed my bags and run up the stairs, excited to see my new roommate. Quite breathless, I arrived at the fifth floor. I entered room thirty-six. "Hello?" A raven-haired girl with a pink tank top and pair of skinny jeans came over to me. "Ew!" she exclaimed. "Why do I have to be paired with a first year?" I just put my bags down. "Er..hello. My name is Courtney! You must be a second year." She just rolled her eyes. "Duh. What does it look like? Anyway, can you just promise to keep out of my way till this darned year ends?" I frowned. "Um. Maybe we should get know each other first. You can learn to like me. And would you do the honor of telling me your name?" She groaned. "Ugh. My name is Samantha. Now, would you do the honor of getting out of my face?" "With pleasure!" I regretted that. We shouldn't have gotten off on the wrong foot. I was so tired, though, I could barely think at all, so I just collapsed on the bed and drifted off.
