Welcome to my review for... Mega Man 2. The Blue Bomber strikes back in this sequel to Mega Man. The first release of Mega Man was a struggling game by Capcom. *Clears throat* I wonder why. *Looks at box art of Mega Man 1* Plus the level design was NOT as creative as what I am reviewing...Mega Man 2. This game for the Nintendo Entertainment System was a bestseller. This was the first Mega Man game that was actually good. This game has new suits, levels, enemies, and a better North American box art. I hope you enjoy my review for the Blue Bomber's hit game, (A.K.A. Mega Man) Mega Man II.

Overall: 8.5/10

Okay, this game is just amazing with its music, levels, enemies, controls, difficulty...it's just all amazing. I rounded all my ratings to get an 8.5 for an overall rating. Now in this review, you will find out what molds its game into perfection. Like I said, this was Capcom's first, actual GOOD GAME. I'm sure the only reason limited collectors bought Mega Man I is because of its rarity as of now. Let me put this in a very good example. At first, computers in society were horrible. They were less powerful than modern calculators. Now, computers are good. Basically, Mega Man wasn't very special, but Mega Man II was a great game with its depth. But anyways, you will find that Mega Man II is a great game behind a unique, yet strange, box. He he he he.

Graphics: 9/10

I know, I know. Why am I rating 8-bit graphics a nine? Well the sprites for Mega Man, AND the enemies are pretty good. Of course in the early Mega Man games, Mega Man looks like he's wearing blue panties, Mega Man also has a facial expression that says, "HELLO, WORLD, AND ALL WHO INHABIT IT! i'm bored..." But Mega's power suit is very nifty. Also, I should mention that the sprites for the enemies are better than the sprites for the bosses. Complete opposite in the game Contra. But the enemies...the sprites aren't as good as Mega Man X, but they are crazy good for the date. The graphics are pure, but this is not the only thing that makes this game wonderful. The graphics are like watching a movie based off a video game (if the movie was 8-bit). As I've said, these graphics are just unforgettable.

Sound: 9/10

This is the best part about the game! Every song in the soundtrack is amazing. From the title screen, to the introduction to each level (Intro to each level is the best part of the Mega Man series, but this version has the best level intro theme by far. Very futuristic). Each level has its unique theme. From Bubble Man to Wood Man. All of the levels has the best themes. Bubble Man reminds me of Sonic Colors (Or the original Sonic the Hedgehog, actually). The boss battle theme is home to the very catchy tune. The theme is just too addicting to let go of. Now let's stop blabbering on how good the game soundtrack is. (Even though it's just that awesome). When Mega Man uses his hand to shoot a bullet, it sounds like a very generic Star Wars gun being shot with 8-bit sound. When Mega Man loses energy, you know what happens, don't you? He explodes. And that makes a generic 8-bit explosion. That is the only way I can describe those sound effects, unfortunately. When you shoot an enemy, it just sounds like that same sound effect from the Home Run Bat from Super Smash Bros, except high pitched. It's funny, they sound dreadfully similar. (This sound effect is also in Dragon Ball Z) This is really all the sound effects in the game, but they're all very interesting. Especially the soundtrack. This game has one of the best soundtracks in video game history. You gotta hear the tunes to believe me, know what I'm saying?

Replay-ability: 8/10

Let me put this out here. This game can get dreadfully addicting. Now if only there was a two player side-scrolling mode just like the Contra series. But, none of the less, this is a very addicting game. The fact that you can't save your progress, limited levels, not a complicated story, the SOUNDTRACK, and the weird, yet creative, level designs. Well I guess all video game levels are weird in one way. And the levels in this game aren't as weird as Mega Man I, let's say that. The story, difficulty, level design, graphics, and sound make this game a potion of power, wisdom, and courage. Picture this: Nintendo is in the middle of their hexing ritual. They use a good story, difficulty, soundtrack, graphics, and game-play to make a gift from God. *Cough* Capcom* *Cough* But man, is this an addicting game. I'm surprised there is no side-scrolling co-op mode to make this game super, ultra addicting. The level design is perfect for that. (Please, somebody hack the ROM to make this possible) But I think I've proved my point that this game is amazingly addicting in lots of great ways...

Story: 7/10

Huh. This is a very original story. Not 10/10 worthy, but very original story. But anyways, way into the future, Dr. Wily is creating a robotic army to put havoc among the world. Unfortunately, we have the Blue Bomber to save the world. The man in blue must go through painful levels of a lifetime to take down Wily's minions, robots, and save the world. Will Mega Man pull off this feat? So, the story is very generic, it's actually pretty good. (HEY MEGA MAN, YOU GOT +7 more games to go) This story well fits the game. I mean, it's the future, you're blowing up robots for crying out loud, I mean seriously. Story is perfect for the genre, there isn't really anything wrong with the story. Now all we need is an annoying princess that could have used her powers to save herself a LONG time ago.....Mario Brothers, you're supposed to react.

Depth: 7/10

I am impressed with all the depth offered in this game. I think I may make this review +2,000 words. He he. But anyways, there are 9 levels in the entire game. Bubble Man, Air Man, Quick Man, Heat Man, Dr. Wily, Wood Man, Flash Man, Metal Man, and Crash Man. There are two difficulties. Normal and Difficult. I do not recommend Difficult, because this game is hard enough on Normal. Now, here are the basic controls. A to jump, B to fire, R to do a tiny jump, and L to do a double fire. (Use L on any boss fights, trust me) In this game, there are passwords that can be used. They can cause levels to be already defeated, cause you to instantly have upgraded armor, change in music, there's also a ton of Game Genie codes. Game Genie codes are pretty fun to use. For an example, there's a code in Super Mario Bros that makes every enemy fire hammers! Now, lots of enemies have gimmicks. For an example, there's an enemy that is VERY powerful, but when he isn't firing, he does NOT use his shield. That is when he is vulnerable. This enemy can destroy you. Now, this is back when you couldn't stick to walls in Mega Man games. This adds a challenge into the game. The levels are either side-scrolling horizontal levels, or vertical levels like Heat Man. Horizontal levels are very easy. Vertical levels are nightmares in 8-bit formation! There's a lot of weird enemies like the frog from Bubble Man that spews out frogs that jump all over the place, or that bunny from Wood Man that shoots carrots at you and it even hops around like it needs to urinate. You're in a forest, just pee in a bush! The final battle is VERY hard. Unless you're playing the Mega Man II High Jump hack. You'll need an upgrade to defeat Dr. Wily in this game... bosses in the Mega Man series are always quick and nimble. You don't know what to expect from them, honestly. Are they gonna run towards you? Will they throw a projectile at you? This is what you'll ask yourself if you make it alive to the end of the level. But as you can see, this game offers a lot of depth for the average Nintendo Entertainment System arcade classic. Most of them are limited levels like the game Popeye.

Difficulty: 7/10

Now, this game is HARD. But in Difficult mode, enemies are stronger. This game has some serious platforming within. And when you're backing up from an enemy, and you kill it from your draw distance, it RE-SPAWNS. The draw distance hit box is very strange. This adds challenge to levels like Wood Man, Bubble Man, and Heat Man. The bosses hit very hard, their attacks are dreadfully difficult to dodge, there's enemies placed in the worst places, the hit box on them is messed up, they re-spawn easily like I said, and the platforming can be pretty difficult like in Bubble Man. As you can see/hear, this game is very difficult. Not Hard Corps hard or Ghosts N' Goblins hard, but hard. If you want an easier Mega Man game, try Mega Man X. Less raging on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System! None of the less, this game is hard, but it's still fun. For an example, Street Fighter II The World Warrior...hard. Addicting? Yes. There is countless difficult games that are fun. *Cough* Contra III *Cough* *Cough*

I hope you enjoyed my review for MEGA MAN II.

Nice review!    It had a good amount of detail and was worded great! Just one thing, why is the text black? It makes it hard to read.
