After playing through the game it made me wonder... Is there a Thunderbolt 1? After looking around I guess not. Of course I also couldn't fine anything on Thunderbolt 2, so I doubt this is an actual NES game. But anyway we have Thunderbolt 2 on here (there's also a Genesis version of the game on this website, but it didn't work for me. It kept freezing up at the same part.) =This game is a pretty decent shooter, it's no Gradius or Life Force but it could be worse.
Graphics-6 Well it's space, it's just a black screen with some dots on it. The ships look decent, you at least know what they are, the bosses look pretty good. So do the little side ships you can get. Overall the game's graphics are pretty mediocre, it's nothing to brag about.
Sound-6 The sound effects are nice and pretty enjoyable, while the actual music is bland, but it does make you feel like you are in the future, It still does kind of wear on you and because the game is a bit hard you might hear that tune a lot
Addictiveness- 8 This game is simplicity at it's finest. Just hold down the Fire button and never let go. The game is so easy to pick up and play that it's hard to stop.
Story-2 Alright try and follow me on this story it might be hard to wrap your head around. Alright so a big laser comes down from sky, city burns, the Thunderbolt plane is sent in to action with an anime looking male (or female I have no clue) piloting the mighty plane. Then you go of into space to destroy ships. Yeah take a moment to wipe the tear from your eye, it's a great story. Joking aside, the story is all it really needs to be.
Depth-8 The Thunderbolt has three types of weapons, which you pick up by blowing up spaceships, blue, yellow, green, and red. Blue is a laser which at max power can fire from six directions, four in the front, two in the back, also it leaves you unguarded in the back because the back lasers fire diagonally. Yellow fires little yellow arrow looking objects, which at max power fires in six directions like the blue weapon, but yellow is more equal with three in the front and three in the back, keep track of your sides, there is nothing to protect you there. Green stinks to put it bluntly; it is just a green ray. At max power it fires in only three directions, all in the front so stay at the bottom. Plus the range on green is pathetic, so just stay away from it. Finally red is a wave beam, which at max power shoots in the four cardinal directions (North, South, East, West), this leaves your diagonals open for a stray fighter to move in. Also you can pick up a power that gives you two side ships that spiral around you as a shield, and a heat seeking star that moves really slowly. If you want my advice use blue or yellow combined with the shield ships.
Difficulty-8 Sometimes the stuff flying at you just comes in too fast, so when you play this game get your reflexes ready, and keep your finger on the fire button and you should be fine. The bosses on the other hand are pretty hard. The game is pretty odd on how you lose a life. Sometimes when you get hit your weapon power goes down. Other times your plane blows up, which is really confusing.
Overall 6.5 The game is just a mediocre vertical shooter with a decent amount of weapons and power-ups. The game overall is enjoyable, there is no bugs or glitches that drag the game down. People that would enjoy this is anyone who enjoys Star Soldier and games of that style, fans of shooters, and for someone just looking for something new.
